  • In order to perform photovoltaic (PV) operation and management (O&M) efficiently, individual PV module monitoring is becoming more important. In this research, we developed wireless IoT sensor which can monitor individual photovoltaic modules. This IoT sensor can detect the output voltage, current and module temperature of individual modules and provide monitored data by wireless communication. Measured voltage error was 1.23%, and it shows 16.6 dBM, 0.42sec and 7.1 mA for voltage, transmittance output, response time and mean power consumption, respectively. IoT sensors were demonstrated in the test field with real climate environment condition and each of 5 sensors showed precise results of voltage, current and temperature. Also, sensors were compared with commercial power-optimizers and showed result difference within 5%.

  • This article focuses on providing remedial solutions for COVID disease through the data collection process. Recently, In India, sudden human losses are happening due to the spread of infectious viruses. All people are not able to differentiate the number of affected people and their locations. Therefore, the proposed method integrates robotic technology for monitoring the health condition of different people. If any individual is affected by infectious disease, then data will be collected and within a short span of time, it will be reported to the control center. Once, the information is collected, then all individuals can access the same using an application platform. The application platform will be developed based on certain parametric values, where the location of each individual will be retained. For precise application development, the parametric values related to the identification process such as sub-interval points and intensity of detection should be established. Therefore, to check the effectiveness of the proposed robotic technology, an online monitoring system is employed where the output is realized using MATLAB. From simulated values, it is observed that the proposed method outperforms the existing method in terms of data quality with an observed percentage of 82.

  • Traditional approaches for structural health monitoring (SHM) seldom take ambient uncertainty (temperature, humidity, ambient vibration) into consideration, while their impacts on structural responses are substantial, leading to a possibility of raising false alarms. A few predictors model-based approaches deal with these uncertainties through complex numerical models running online, rendering the SHM approach to be compute-intensive, slow, and sometimes not practical. Also, with model-based approaches, the imperative need for a precise understanding of the structure often poses a problem for not so well understood complex systems. The present study employs a data-based approach coupled with Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) to correlate recorded response time histories under varying temperature conditions to corresponding damage scenarios. EMD decomposes the response signal into a finite set of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). A two-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network (2DCNN) is further trained to associate these IMFs to the respective damage cases. The use of IMFs in place of raw signals helps to reduce the impact of sensor noise while preserving the essential spatio-temporal information less-sensitive to thermal effects and thereby stands as a better damage-sensitive feature than the raw signal itself. The proposed algorithm is numerically tested on a single span bridge under varying temperature conditions for different damage severities. The dynamic strain is recorded as the response since they are frame-invariant and cheaper to install. The proposed algorithm has been observed to be damage sensitive as well as sufficiently robust against measurement noise.

  • High-rise buildings are widely being constructed in the Middle-East, South-East, and East Asia. These buildings are usually willing to stand for the landmark of the region and, therefore, exhibit some extraordinary features such as super-tall height, elevation set-backs, overhangs, or free-form exterior surface, all of which makes the construction difficult, complex, and even unsafe at some construction stages. In addition to the elaborately planned construction sequence, prediction and monitoring of building's movement during construction and after completion are required for precise and safe construction. This is often called the Building Movement Control during construction. This study describes Building Movement Control of the KLCC Tower, a 58-story office building currently being built right next to the famous PETRONAS Twin Towers. The main items of the Building Movement Control for the KLCC Tower are axial shortening and verticality. Preliminary prediction of these items are already carried out by the structural design team but more accurate prediction based on construction stage analysis and combined with time-dependent material testing, field monitoring, and site survey is done by the main contractor. As of September 2010, the Tower is under construction at level 30, where the plan abruptly changes from rectangle to triangle. Findings and troubleshooting until the current construction stage are explained in detail and implementations are suggested for future applications.

  • This paper deals with the quick and precise disaster prevention automation system (DPAS) based on information communication technology (IT) that detects fire and disasters in the building automatically and quickly and then activates the facilities to extinguish fire and disasters, monitoring such situation in a real time through wire-wireless communication network. The proposed DPAS is applied a programmable logic controller (PLC) of one-chip type which is smallsize and lightweight and also has highly sensitive-precise reliabilities. The one-chip type PLC analyzes detected signals from sensors in a case of fire and disasters, then activates fire extinguishing facilities for rapid suppression. The detected data is also transferred to a remote situation room through wire-wireless network of RS232c and bluetooth communication. The transferred data sounds an emergency alarm signal, and operates a monitoring program. The proposed DPAS based on IT will minimize the life and wealth loss from rapid measures while prevents fire and disasters.

  • This study materialized the new module which enables to measure more precise data than the existing modules in order to examine the cardiac disorder critical patient's state by using Swan-Ganz Catheter. There was bolus type CO(Cardiac Output) module which measured CO by measuring the blood changes in temperature and recovery time by injecting cold sap into the heart in the past, but recently, it is not used in most of hospitals due to limit of difficulty of continuous monitoring for the patients. To overcome this limit, the continuous cardiac output measurement platform was materialized to enable the continuous monitoring for patients. The wasted cost issues because of introducing the expensive imported equipment to observe the critical patient`s state with abnormal cardiopulmonary function in the hospitals can be solved by using this new module, and the problem of existing modules should be supplemented for more accurate diagnosis by collecting more precise data.

  • Drones, one of the 4th industrial technologies that are expanding from military use to industrial use, are being actively used in the search missions of the National Police Agency and finding missing persons, thereby reducing interest in a wide area and the input of large-scale search personnel. However, legal review of police drone operation is continuously required, and the importance of advanced system for related operations and analysis of captured images in connection with search techniques is increasing at the same time. In this study, in order to facilitate recording, preservation, and monitoring in the concept of precise search and monitoring, it is possible to achieve high efficiency and secure golden time when precise search is performed by constructing spatial information based on photo rather than image data-based search. Therefore, we intend to propose a spatial information construction technique that reduces the resulting data volume by adjusting the unnecessary spatial information completion rate according to the size of the subject. Through this, the scope of use of drone search missions for large-scale areas is advanced and it is intended to be used as basic data for building a drone operation manual for police searches.

  • The State Space Representation (SSR) method provides individual corrections for each Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) error components. This method can lead to less bandwidth for transmission and allows selective use of each correction. Precise Point Positioning (PPP) - Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) is one of the carrier-based precise positioning techniques using SSR correction. This technique enables high-precision positioning with a fast convergence time by providing atmospheric correction as well as satellite orbit and clock correction. Currently, the positioning service that supports PPP-RTK technology is the Quazi-Zenith Satellite System Centimeter Level Augmentation System (QZSS CLAS) in Japan. A system that provides correction for each GNSS error component, such as QZSS CLAS, requires monitoring of each error component to provide reliable correction and integrity information to the user. In this study, we conducted an analysis of the performance of residual error bounding for each error component. To assess this performance, we utilized the correction and quality indicators provided by QZSS CLAS. Performance analyses included the range domain, dispersive part, non-dispersive part, and satellite orbit/clock part. The residual root mean square (RMS) of CLAS correction for the range domain approximated 0.0369 m, and the residual RMS for both dispersive and non-dispersive components is around 0.0363 m. It has also been confirmed that the residual errors are properly bounded by the integrity parameters. However, the satellite orbit and clock part have a larger residual of about 0.6508 m, and it was confirmed that this residual was not bounded by the integrity parameters. Users who rely solely on satellite orbit and clock correction, particularly maritime users, thus should exercise caution when utilizing QZSS CLAS.

  • Network RTK is a precise positioning technique using carrier phase correction data from reference stations within the network, and is constantly being researched for improved performance. However, the study for the system accuracy has been performed but system integrity research has not been done as much as system accuracy, because network RTK has been mainly used on surveying for static or kinematic positioning. In this paper, adequate monitoring system for network RTK is designed as basis research for integrity monitoring on network RTK. To this, fault tree on network RTK is analyzed, and a countermeasure is prepared to detect and identify the each fault items. Based these algorithms, monitoring system to use on central processing facility is designed for network RTK service.
