Effect of Emotional Intelligence on Customer Orientation among Flight Attendants -moderating effect of social support- (국내 항공사 승무원의 감성지능이 고객지향성에 미치는 영향 -사회적 지원의 조절효과-)

  • The principal objective of this study is to examine the relationship between the emotional intelligence and customer orientation in airline service context. Moreover, this study was designed to test the moderating effect of social support to provide fundamental and practical data for airline industry. In this study, 2 hypotheses based on literature reviews were employed. A questionnaire was also developed based on previous studies. A convenience sample of 233 flight attendants was surveyed and a total of 214 usable questionnaires were analyzed. Then the data and hypotheses were examined using multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. The results are as follows. Firstly, emotional intelligence was divided into 'self-emotional appraisal', 'other's emotional appraisal', 'regulation of emotion' and 'use of emotion' according to the literature review. Analysis showed that emotional intelligence has partial effect on customer orientation accordingly. Secondly, social support has partial moderating effects between emotional intelligence and customer orientation. Continuous and systematic training program which build up team work should be conducted to administer 'emotional intelligence'.

  • In this paper, we collected the articles related to artificial intelligence among SCI(E) journals published by Korean authors in 'Web of Science' and conducted frequency analysis and keyword network analysis. As a result of the analysis, the artificial intelligence thesis showed an average growth of about 10% per year, but the relative ratio decreased. As time went on, we could confirm that there is a lot of practical and applied research in artificial intelligence research. Unlike the US 'National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence Research and Development,' the field of research in Korea was focused on local and technical aspects. Therefore, Korea should go beyond the theoretical and technical iterations of artificial intelligence, and research should be carried out to present a comprehensive future direction.

The Determinant Factor on the Cautious Purchasing and Satisfaction of Online Shopping Mall: Moderating Effect of Emotional Intelligence (온라인 쇼핑몰 신중구매의 영향과 결정요인 : 정서지능의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to identify the related factors of cautious purchasing for buyers who have purchased products in online shopping mall. First, we focus on the prevention focus, which is one of the personal characteristics, that affect the cautious purchase, and analyze the satisfaction of purchasing according to cautious purchase. Furthermore, we investigate the influence of emotional intelligence (self-awareness and social-awareness) on the process of cautious purchasing and satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach In order to verify the hypotheses, this study surveyed individuals who purchase products on the Internet for about 2 months from August to September 2016. A total of 250 copies were returned, but 20 questionnaires that were incomplete were excluded. Thus, the final 230 samples were analyzed. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for hypothesis testing. Findings The result of this study showed that the cautious purchasing is stronger for the buyers with the prevention focus. And consumers who purchase carefully have higher satisfaction after purchasing. In addition, emotional intelligence in the cautious purchasing process has a positive moderating effect. Based on the results of this study, the theoretical and practical implications are suggested.

Living Lab and Confusion Matrix for Performance Improvement and Evaluation of Artificial Intelligence System in Life Environment (생활 환경에서의 인공지능 시스템 성능 개선 및 평가를 위한 리빙랩 및 혼동 매트릭스)

  • Recently, the daily life safety detection functionalities such as fall accident detection and burn danger detection are widely disseminated along with the development of IoT and smart home. These safety detection functionalities are mostly performed by artificial intelligence. However, simple accuracy measurement of the safety detection in laboratory environment is often far from practical performance in daily life environment. To mitigate this problem, this paper introduces two techniques, i.e. living lab and confusion matrix. Living lab is more than simple simulation of daily life environment, and it enables users to directly participate technology development and product design. Various performance measures induced from confusion matrix significantly help to evaluate the performance of artificial intelligence system for proper application purposes.

  • There are concerns that the recent surge in multicultural families and the continuation of non-face-to-face education, such as remote classes caused by COVID-19, are causing educational gaps among lower grades in elementary school. In particular, the importance of reading, writing and listening to our language should be established in lower grades of elementary school. Therefore, the research has recently developed contents that can enhance understanding by utilizing highly interested artificial intelligence tools and provide interesting Korean language education through play. In the future, there will be various attempts for artificial intelligence tools to be used in lower-grade elementary school education.

  • At the present time when the need for universal artificial intelligence education is expanding and job changes are being made, research and discussion on artificial intelligence liberal arts education for non-majors in universities who experience artificial intelligence as part of their job is insufficient. Although artificial intelligence education courses for non-majors are being operated, they are mainly operated as theory-oriented education on the concepts and principles of artificial intelligence. In order to understand the general concept of artificial intelligence for non-majors, it is necessary to proceed with experiential learning in parallel. Therefore, this study designs artificial intelligence experiential education learning contents of difficulty that can reduce the burden of artificial intelligence classes with interest in learning by considering the characteristics of non-majors. After, we will examine the learning effect of experiential education using App Inventor and the Orange artificial intelligence platform. As a result of analysis based on the learning-related data and survey data collected through the creation of AI-related projects by teams, positive changes in the perception of the need for AI education were found, and AI literacy skills improved. It is expected that it will serve as an opportunity for instructors to lay the groundwork for designing a learning model for artificial intelligence experiential education learning.

Arbitrator Acceptability in International Maritime Arbitration: The Perspective of Korean Shipping Companies

  • Purpose - In the international shipping industry, arbitration is mainly chosen for resolving maritime disputes. This study investigates the "acceptability" of an international maritime arbitrator based on an existing theoretical model of arbitrator acceptability. Design/methodology - Using structural equation modeling techniques, this study examines a sample of senior managers who engage in the judicial affairs of their international shipping companies to verify a hypothesized model of arbitrator acceptability that covers cultural intelligence, arbitral experience, reputation, practical/legal expertise, and procedural justice as independent variables. Furthermore, the relative "perceived required time" of arbitration is tested as a moderator. Findings - Arbitrator acceptability is significantly influenced by six constructs of arbitrator characteristics: cultural intelligence, arbitral experience, reputation, practical and legal expertise, and procedural justice. Furthermore, the moderating effect of the perceived required time of arbitration is demonstrated in the relationship between arbitrator acceptability and arbitrator characteristics even though these relationships are not equally influenced. Originality/value - The originality of this study can be found in its context, that is, international maritime arbitration. Despite the potential growth of international maritime arbitration, existing studies have mainly focused on domestic arbitration. The findings of this study are expected to provide useful guidelines for nurturing international maritime arbitration in Korea.

The Advertising Effect on A.I. as an Endorser: Focusing on Innovativeness and Anthropomorphism of Consumer (인공지능(A.I.)의 보증인 광고효과 분석: 수용자의 혁신성과 의인화 영향을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify whether the endorser effect similar to humans can be created in advertising campaigns based on the artificial intelligence endorser. In particular, considering the characteristics of artificial intelligence, a research model was presented by convergence of consumer innovativeness and anthropomorphism. The results of the online survey of 244 respondents showed that expertise of the artificial intelligence endorser has a positive effect on both brand attitude and purchase intention, but not for trustworthiness while it has a positive effect on brand attitude. Also, the effect of consumer innovativeness and anthropomorphism on brand attitude and purchase intention for artificial intelligence was found. The endorser effect was expanded to artificial intelligence, which is an intangible object, and the existing theory and research results were combined to re-verify it. Theoretical and practical implications for artificial intelligence-based products and services were presented.

The Effects of Plant Raising Activities in Home Upon School Student' Emotion Intelligence (가정내 식물 가꾸기 활동이 초등학생들의 정서지능에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of raising plants at home on elementary school students' emotional intelligence. The experimental group in the post-test showed significant differences in all the domains of emotional perception, emotional expression, emotional empathy, emotional control, emotional application, compared to the control group, which indicated that the activity of raising plants at home has positive effects on the emotional intelligence of high graders in elementary school. Even in the change of students' emotional intelligence according to their gender, male students in the experimental group had higher average values more than the control group, showing significant differences in all the domains of emotional perception, emotional expression, emotional empathy, emotional control, emotional application. Female students in the experimental group had the same tendency. Accordingly, as a result of this study, it was found that the activity of raising plants at home has positive effects on the improvement of elementary school high graders' emotional intelligence.

Convergence Education Program Using Smart Farm for Artificial Intelligence Education of Elementary School Students (초등학생 대상의 인공지능교육을 위한 스마트팜 활용 융합교육 프로그램)

  • This study was conducted to develop a convergence education program using smart farms with both input data(temperature, humidity, etc.) and output data(vegetables, fruits, etc.) that are easily accessible in everyday life so that elementary school students can intuitively and easily understand the principles of artificial intelligence(AI) learning. In order to develop this program, we conducted a prior study analysis of a horticulture, software, robot units in the 2015 Practical Arts curriculum and artificial intelligence education. Based on this, 13 components and 16 achievement criteria were selected, and AI programs of 4 sessions(a total of 8 hours). This program can be used as a reference when developing various teaching materials for artificial intelligence education in the future.
