The Relationship between Course Assessment and Program Objective Evaluation in Engineering Education Accreditation - Toward a Practical Evaluation of Program Objectives (공학교육인증에서 교과목 학습성과와 프로그램 학습성과의 관계 - 실질적인 프로그램 학습성과 평가를 지향하며)

  • It is strongly desirable to continuously study the program outcomes that are one of the requirements of engineering accreditation. In this paper, the results of program outcome evaluation obtained by using four tools - exit written exams, essay tests, capstone design, and an official English test - were compared to those of program outcome evaluation obtained by a course-embedded assessment method. The former evaluation was carried out for 15 students who graduated in February 2010 by using the four evaluation tools, while the latter was performed by using a course offered in the Spring and Fall semesters in 2009. Two evaluation results revealed no large difference in almost all 12 program outcomes, which indicates that course-embedded assessment would be one of the practical and effective program outcome evaluation tools.

The Study on the Management and Application through Analysis of Actual Condition of Palustrine Wetland in Rural Area (농촌마을 소택형습지 실태 분석을 통한 관리 및 활용방안 연구)

  • This study was accompanied to develop the management and application plans as resources for rural tourism through the analysis of distribution characteristics, inhabitants' practical use, need item for management and application, and aesthetic/recreation function of Palustrine wetland in rural area. The 2.3 Palustrine wetland per farm village were located, and 77.5% of total wetland was used by agricultural water, landscape, rural tourism The management and water quality were steadily getting better in used wetland than in unused wetland. Also, 91.8% of respondents answered that there is a practical use plan afterward, and much preferred the mode of ecotourism through restoration of ecological wetland. As the results from the appropriateness evaluation of management and application in used wetland for ecotourism, improvement item was required in observation deck, entrance lane, guidance facilities etc. And, insufficient result was deduced in appropriateness of operation program and special learning course, and in participation of inhabitants and experts. The result of evaluation of the aesthetic and recreation functions generally appeared high, but the need improvement item was required in artificial water wall and plantation base that deteriorate biological diversity. These results will be used to data for conservation, management and practical use of wetland, an important natural resource in farm village, which are confronted in crisis of land reclamation by use reduction of use and false management.

  • The purpose of this study is to select the talented and competent personal caregiver personnel through a professional and rational inspection system, and to provide safer personal care services to the public so that the people who are eligible for service can lead a safe life. The purpose of this study is to cultivate qualified and competent personal guardian personnel and provide professional and stable services to the people so that the people who can use the service can lead a safer life. In order to grow into a system that meets the objectives of the personal guardian qualification screening system, it must be revised and supplemented from various evaluation methods. The improvement measures related to the practical test of the system for qualifying personal guardians are as follows. First, the fitness evaluation items should be added. Second, it is necessary to reestablish the test technology. (Remove technology that causes the second threat) (Adds skills that can be used as civilian status) Third, the fallout and application action must be added. Fourth, evaluation in various starting positions is necessary. Fifth, evaluation should be made by diversifying the distance and direction with the opponent.

A Study on the Evaluation Process Development for the Use of Outflowing Groundwater in Large-Scale Buildings (대형건축물의 유출지하수 활용을 위한 평가 프로세스구축에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, as a countermeasure to the buoyancy of a building, the use of permanent drainage methods have been on the increase, and these provide benefits both in terms of economical feasibility and efficiency. When a permanent drainage method is applied, some underground water can drain out. Korea has been designated by PAI (Population Action International) as a water-stressed country, and the use of outflowing groundwater is required for the efficient oversight of water resources. However, the evaluation process on the practical use of underground water is currently insufficient. Therefore, the amount of outflowing groundwater put to practical use and the standard for the water quality were examined in this research, with the aim of establishing anappraisal process on the practical use of underground water drainage. In addition, standards for the assessment of the treatment process and the application cost of underground water drainage were developed. On this basis, an evaluation process on the use of outflowing groundwater was developed and applied inthe field. The application result proved that it was possible to assess the initial investment cost and the maintenance and management cost in the field, and thesecan be compared to the costs when supplied water is used, which makes it possible to apply in the field.

  • Value engineering (VE) of the construction project is classified into design phase value engineering and construction phase value engineering. Design phase value engineering must apply to over 10 billion public construction projects by government law. Therefore, the design value engineering apply to actively in construction projects. In contrast, the construction value engineering apply to a limited certain construction project. The reason is that construction value engineering process can not reflect practical demands quality. The construction value engineering can implement to positive impact through the feasibility verification for constructability. In this research, we propose a method of construction value engineering that reflect the practical demands. This method is experts alternative evaluation of using by GFI-based. And, this study was applied to the practical cases to verify the applicability of the proposed method. As a result, proposed alternative evaluation method were analyzed highly efficient in terms of applying the process as well as the method compare to the conventional method.

  • To enhance the practical usage of solely quantitative evaluation method for each students on the current public education fields which might cause some social problems, an intelligent and adaptive fuzzy logical inference methodology for the additional qualitative evaluation technique is proposed to utilize each students personal characteristic properties to be evaluated. Proposed method uses some verbal descriptions for the linguistic qualifier in addition to the grade points. An imaginary virtual experimentation only has been implemented due to some difficulties with the critical national educational policy problems in the case of some possibly real and practical experimental environments to be utilized for the simulation.

STRATEGY-ORIENTED EVALUATION OF MIS

  • Performance evaluation is essential for the successful management and operation of MIS. The more MIS grows and relevant investment enlarges, the more performance evaluation grows in importance. However, MIS managers as well as top management still have difficulty in evaluating the performance of MIS. This arises from various reasons, such as the specialty of MIS, diversified influences of MIS, multidimensionality of evaluation items, and the difference between evaluation levels. In this paper, MIS is understood in a broad sense. MIS's scope is of a very wide range from each application system to system innovation view. The MIS should support the firm's objectives, and, consequently, MIS evaluation should be implemented at corporate level, not merely at application system level. The most critical problem of MIS evaluation is that a systematic frame covering various viewpoints and factors of MIS evaluation does not exist. Not a single measure covers all aspects of MIS evaluation. To help resolve this problem, this paper proposes an hierarchical approach for practical use that includes most aspects of evaluation approaches from previous studies, and, furthermore, emphasizes the evaluation of strategic aspects of MIS.

Teaching Effectiveness and Adequacy of Practical Training in Nursing Students (간호대학생이 지각한 임상실습 교수 효율성과 임상실습 적절성)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the teaching effectiveness and adequacy of practical training in nursing students. Methods: This descriptive research was conducted using a convenience sampling. The sample consisted of 619 nursing students with experience in practical training among five colleges, located in four cities. The data collection was performed using self-reported questionnaires. Research tools, developed by Kim (1996), were used to measure the effectiveness of clinical instructors and the adequacy of practical training developed by researchers. The data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0. Results: The average of teaching effectiveness was 3.43 (out of 5) and adequacy of practical training was 3.33 (out of 5). Teaching effectiveness and adequacy of practical training showed a significant positive correlation (r=.74, p<.001). Teaching effectiveness and each sub-area: adequacy of practical training, practical contents (r=.59, p<.001), practical attitude (r=.45, p<.001), practical instructor (r=.62, p<.001), practical environment (r=.46, p<.001), and practical evaluation (r=.64, p<.001), revealed a significant positive correlation. Conclusion: Nursing students prefer the actual training from professors who are more professional and clinical experienced. Professors presenting the theory lectures should also be aware of clinical practice so that education can be more professional and effective in terms of clinical practice.
