  • Due to the characteristics of 3 ${\times}$ 3 Latin square design which is composed of two block effects and one main effect, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect are very superior to powers of parametric statistic without regard to the type of population distributions. By order of when all three effects are fixed, when on one block effect is random, when two block effects are random, the rank transform statistic for testing the main effect shows relatively high powers as compared with the parametric statistic. Further when the size of main effect is big with one equivalent size of block effect and the other small size of block effect, powers of rank transformed statistic for testing the main effect demonstrate excellent advantage to powers of parametric statistic.

  • Powers of rank transformed statistic for testing main effects and interaction effects for $2{\times}2$ factorial design in randomized complete block design are very superior to powers of parametric statistic without regard to the block size, composition method of effects and the type of population distributions such as exponential, double exponential, normal and uniform. $2{\times}2$ factorial design in RCBD increases error effects and decreases powers of parametric statistic which results in conservativeness. However powers of rank transformed statistic maintain relative preference. In general powers of rank transformed statistic show relative preference over those of parametric statistic with small block size and big effect size.

  • Let $p$ be an odd prime number and let F be a finite field with $p^m$ elements. We study representations and strict representations of polynomials $M{\in}F$[T] by sums of ($p^r$ + 1)-th powers. A representation $$M=M_1^k+{\cdots}+M_s^k$$ of $M{\in}F$[T] as a sum of $k$-th powers of polynomials is strict if $k$ deg $M_i<k$ + degM.

  • This paper presents a method for computing the powers and inverse of an element in GF($2^m$). This method is based on the squaring algorithm $A^2=\sum\limits_{i=0}^{2m-2}P_i$, where $Pi={\alpha}_{i/2}$ if i is even, Pi=0 otherwise, derived from the multiplication algorithm for two elements in GF($2^m$). The powers and inverses in GF($2^m$) for m=2, 3, 4,5 were obtained using computer program, and used in circuit realization of Galois switching function. The squaring and inverse generating circuits are also shown.

  • A major concern in a cellular mobile communication system is how to efficiently utilize the limited amount of frequencies. Various channel assignment methods and traffic sharing schemes have been proposed to improve system performance. However, these approaches suffer from complicated software and hardware requirements due to increased amount of traffic control In this paper, we propose a new method for improving system performance by controlling the powers of the set-up and voice channels of each cell site. We first show that the average number of blocked calls in a system is minimized when the traffic reates are made identical for all cell sites in a system. This result, together with the relationship between the channel powers and the service area, is used to determine the appropriate channel powers of each cell site. We also determine the upper limit on the channel power of each cell site considering co-channel interference and numerically show that the proposed method is effective in reducing the number of blocked calls without an excessive increase in the amount of system control.

  • This paper suggests power optimization technique in multi-level SCPC system as a method for efficient utilization of limited satellite power. The power optimization is realized by optimal assignment of satellite input carrier powers considering interference and noise generated in up-link and down-link. The Fletcher-Powell algorithm searching minimum(or maximum) point using gradient information is used to detemine the optimal input carrier powers. To apply Flectcher-Powell algorithm mathematical descriptions and their partial derivatives to interference and nose are presented. Because a target, which should be optimized, is satellite input carrier power, amplitude of each carrier group will be assumed to be an independent variable. The performance criterion for optimal power assignmentis classified into 4 categories with respect to CNR of destination receiver earth station to meet the requirement for various satellite link environment. Simulation results for two-level, four-level and six-level SCPC system are presented.

  • To perform high-strength of concrete, fine powers of pozzolan such as fly ash, silica fume mixed with cement. But mobility of cement and concrete decreased due to using of these powers. To control decrease of this mobility, it is required that mobility is improved by using of chemical admixture such as superplasticizer. We used admixtures -NSF, NM-2, NT-2 etc- in order to improve mobility of cement paste being substituted by 10, 20% of pozzolans respectively. It proved that optimum dosage of NSF, NT-2 was 2.0% for being substituted 10%, 3.0% for 20% so as to increase mobility of cement paste mixed paste mixed with fine powers of pozzolan at W/C=0.40.

  • We present a graphical method for determining a pair of optical materials and powers to design an achromatic and athermal lens system with corrected Petzval curvature. To graphically obtain the solutions, a three-dimensional (3D) glass chart is proposed. Even if a particular material combination is unavailable, we can select an element suitable for a specific lens and continuously change the element powers of an equivalent single lens for aberrations correction. Thus, we can iteratively identify the materials and powers on a 3D glass chart. By designing a fisheye lens using this method, an achromatic and athermal system with flat Petzval curvature is obtained, over the specified waveband and temperature ranges.

  • The purpose of this paper is to derive powers $A^{n}$ using a system of recursive sequences for a given $2{\times}2$ matrix A. Introducing a recursive sequence we have a quadratic equation. Solutions to this quadratic equation are related with eigenvalues of A. By solving this quadratic equation we can easily obtain an explicit form of $A^{n}$. Our method holds when A is defined not only on the real field but also on the complex field.

  • Maintaining the voltages is important in the power systems and the voltage is closely associated with the reactive powers. Therefore, the voltages are maintained by controlling the reactive powers. However actually it is impossible to control reactive power for maintaining all bus voltages. Thus, Secondary Voltage Regulation was designed. It divides power systems into some control areas and controls pilot node with the included generators. The reactive powers of generators can control pilot bus voltage continuously and fast. Therefore we need to divide areas and select control generators for SVR with Electrical distance. Then estimation of the reactive power reserves of geneators is needed in voltage control areas to control voltages of the pilot nodes.
