터빈오일과 물이 혼합될 때 증기터빈 선박엔진 저어널 베어링의 열유체윤활 해석 (Thermohydrodynamic Lubrication Analysis of Journal Bearing on Steam Turbine Shipping Engine Involving the Mixture of Water within Turbine Oil)

  • In this study, using the governing equation for thermohydrodyamic lubrication involving the homogeneous mixture of incompressible fluid derived by based on the principle of continuum mechanics, it is discussed the effects of water within turbine oil on the performance of high speed journal bearing of a steam turbine shipping engine. The governing equation is the general equation being able to be applied on the mixture of Newtonian fluid and non-Newtonian fluid. Here, the fluid viscosity index, n of power-law non-Newtonian fluid is supposed to be 1 for the application of the journal bearing in a steam turbine shipping engine lubricated with the mixture of two Newtonian fluid, for example, water within turbine oil. The results related with the bearing performance are showed.

  • The control performance of a vehicle installed with an MR(magnetorheological) fluid-based damper is investigated on the basis of Herschel-Bulkley shear model. Generally, most of MR fluid damper has been analyzed based on a simple Bingham-plastic shear model. However, the Bingham-plastic shear model can not well describe the behavior of the damper on the condition of high velocity and high current field input. Therefore, in this study, the Herschel-Bulkley shear model in which the constant post-yield plastic viscosity in Bingham model is replaced with a power law model dependent on shear rate is used to assess control performance of a vehicle with MR fluid damper suspension system. This study deals with a two-degree-of-freedom suspension using the MR fluid damper for a quarter car model. The response for the bump input to identify the fastness of MR fluid damper embedded skyhook controller and requested magnetic field are investigated.

유기랭킨사이클을 이용한 병렬 열병합 발전시스템의 열역학적 이론 성능 특성 (Theoretical Characteristics of Thermodynamic Performance of Combined Heat and Power Generation with Parallel Circuit using Organic Rankine Cycle)

  • In this study a novel cogeneration system driven by low-temperature sources at a temperature level below $190^{\circ}C$ is investigated by first and second laws of thermodynamics. The system consists of Organic Rankine Cycle(ORC) and an additional heat generation as a parallel circuit. Seven working fluids of R143a, R22, R134a, R152a, $iC_4H_{10}$(isobutane), $C_4H_{10}$(butane), and R123a are considered in this work. Maximum mass flow rate of a working fluid relative to that of the source fluid and optimum turbine inlet pressure are considered to extract maximum power from the source. Results show that due to a combined heat and power generation, both the efficiencies by first and second laws can be significantly increased in comparison to a power generation, however, the second law efficiency is more resonable in the investigation of cogeneration systems. Results also show that the working fluid for the maximum system efficiency depends on the source temperature.

SiO2 계열 젤화제에 따른 케로신 젤 연료의 유변학적 특성 연구 (Rheological Characteristics of Kerosene Gel Fuel with SiO2 Gellant Derivatives)

  • 본 연구에서는 $SiO_2$ 계열 젤화제로 알려진 Aerosil(R) R972, Silica 230, Silica 530을 사용하여 케로신 기반 젤 연료를 제작하였다. 케로신 계열 연료로는 Jet A-1을 사용하였으며 젤화(gelification) 여부를 확인하기 위한 전단박화(shear thinning) 현상은 멱법칙(power-law) 모델을 이용하여 검증하였고 제작된 모든 젤 연료는 전단박화 효과와 함께 $SiO_2$ 젤화제의 함유량이 증가할수록 젤의 점도가 높게 형성됨을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 젤화제 중 Aerosil(R) R972를 첨가한 젤 연료의 점성계수가 전단률 전 영역에 걸쳐 멱법칙 모델을 따르는 것이 확인되었으며 상대적으로 Silica 230과 Silica 530을 첨가한 젤 연료는 전단률 150 [1/s] 근방 이하에서 멱법칙이 유효하지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 젤화제 함유량이 증가할수록 vortex 혼합법과 수동 혼합법 간의 유변학적 특성이 크게 차이 나는 것이 관찰되었다.

Here, the fluid viscosity index, n of power-law non-Newtonian fluid is supposed to be 1 for the application of the journal bearing on a turbocharger lubricated with the mixture of two Newtonian fluids, water dispersed within engine oil. The results related with the bearing performance are showed that the friction force and bearing load capacity decrease as increasing the volume percent of water.

매끈한 관내 공기유동에서 유량과 속도분포에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Flow-rate and Velocity Profile of Air Flow in the Smooth Pipe)

  • Experimental study was conducted to obtain the air velocity profiles in turbulent pipe flow. The acrylic smooth pipe (${\phi}=80mm$) was used for the test section of the flow loop. It was known that the velocity profiles of turbulent flow were different with Reynolds numbers and the viscous sublayer was usually quite thin. The following conclusions were drawn from the experimental investigations. Maximum velocity of the pipe center and flow-rate are useful for the duct design on the spot. The velocity profiles of high Reynolds number was flatter than those of low Reynolds number. It was known that the exponent, n, for power-law velocity profiles was $6{\sim}9$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from $10^4$ to $10^5$ in the turbulent flow, However, in this experiment study, it was $9{\sim}14$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from 17,000 to 123,727 in the turbulent flow, and $1.7{\sim}3.5$ depending on Reynolds number ranging from 2,442 to 4,564 in the transition region.

테일러 반응기 내의 입자응집과 분해에 관한 수치 연구 (Numerical Study of Aggregation and Breakage of Particles in Taylor Reactor)

  • 전산유체역학(CFD)을 이용하여 테일러 반응기 내 입자간 응집과 분해반응을 고려한 유동해석을 수행하였다. 입자크기분포를 파악하기 위하여 모멘트 적분법(QMOM)을 이용하여 집합체 균형방정식(Population Balance Equation)을 계산하였다. 초기 여섯 개의 모멘트를 이용하였으며, 응집커널은 Brownian kernel 과 turbulent kernel의 합을, 그리고 분해커널은 멱법칙 커널(power-law kernel)을 사용하였다. 입자의 초기 부피분율에 따른 최종 입자크기를 예측하였다. 그 결과, 초기 부피분율이 증가할수록 입자의 크기와 초기 성장속도가 증가하는 것을 확인하였다.

Nonlinear vibration and stability of FG nanotubes conveying fluid via nonlocal strain gradient theory

  • In this work, a model of a functionally graded (FG) nanotube conveying fluid embedded in an elastic medium is developed based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) in conjunction with Euler-Bernoulli beam theory (EBT). The main objective of this research is to investigate the nonlinear vibration and stability analysis of fluid-conveying nanotubes. The governing equations of motion are derived by means of Hamiltonian principle. The analytical expressions of nonlinear frequencies and critical flow velocities for two different types of boundary conditions including pinned-pinned (P-P) and clamped-clamped (C-C) conditions are obtained by employing Galerkin method as well as Hamiltonian Approach (HA). Comparison of the obtained results with the published works show the acceptable accuracy of the current solutions. The effects of the power-law index, the nonlocal and material length scale parameters and the elastic medium on the stability and nonlinear responses of FG nanotubes are thoroughly investigated and discussed.

  • Three-dimensional optimum design of coat-hanger die is performed using power-law and Carreau models. It is found that the three-dimensional optimum design algorithm shows good convergence with the non-Newtonian fludis. the nore realistic optimum design is accomplished by employing Carreau model with the three-dimensional design method. The effect of vixcosity modles is investigated by comparing the optimum manifold profiles and flow rate distributions of power-law and Carreau modles. Through the accurated viscosity representation of Carreau model, the effect of total flow rate on the optimum manifold profile is investigated.

뉴턴유체와 비뉴턴유체에 대한 분기관 유동의 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis of Branch Flows for Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids)

  • Branch flows for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids are simulated by the finite volume method. The modified power-law model is employed as a constitutive equation of the non-Newtonian fluids. Numerical analyses are focused on understanding of flow patterns for different values of branch angles, diameter ratios and Reynolds numbers. The numerical results are compared with the existing experimental data. The calculated velocity profiles and pressure variations are in good agreement with available experimental results.
