Power line communication channels are very complicated and models for communication channels vary with the types of electrical equipment, devices and load fluctuations. So, modeling and analysis of power line channels for implementation of power line communication systems is a very important process. Power line channel modeling and simulation are performed based on power system transient simulation models and power system CAD tools to create precise and accurate models. In this paper, a channel modeling and simulation method is proposed for power line communication systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, in which a PN 63 sequence code generator is applied for impulse response of the power line channel in the simulation model.
This paper describes a monitoring system that monitors power quality and undesirable accidents when distributed generations are connected to the power grid. Prior to develop and operate a physical monitoring system, we constitute a simulation device to simulate the monitoring processes for the situations. The simulation system consists of the server and the client that connected by communication line. This system has various functions to monitor the power quality and the connection situation. Those functions are generation, transmission, acquisition and analysis of the simulated power data. This research seems very important to get the reliable and intelligent connection algorithm through the result of simulated monitoring system. Also hereafter, as this system uses the remote monitoring system through network and constitute the data base(DB), it will play an important role in building the automation of power system efficiently and systematically.

The paper presents development of a Hardware-In-the-Loop simulation (HILS) system for the purpose of testing performance, stability, and reliability of an electronic power steering system(EPS). In order to realistically test an EPS by the proposed HILS apparatus, a simulated uniaxial dynamic rack force is applied physically to the EPS hardware by a pnumatic actuator. An EPS hardware is composed of steering wheel &column, a rack & pinion mechanism, andas motor-driven power steering system. A command signal for a pneumatic rack-force actuator is generated from the vehicle handling lumped parameter dynamic model 9software) that is simulated in real time by using a very fast digital signal processor. The inputs to the real-time vehicle dynamic simulation model are a constant vehicle forward speed and from wheel steering angles driven through a steering system by a driver. The output from a real-time simulation model is an electric signal that is proportional to the uniaxial rack force. The vehicle handling lumped parameter dynamic model is validated by a fully nonlinear constrained multibody vehicle dynamic model. The HILS system simulation results sow that the proposed HILS system may be used to realistically test the performance stability , and reliability of an electronic power steering system is a repeated way.
Since the Internet-based real-time Global Positioning System(GPS) synchronized widearea power system frequency monitoring network (FNET) was proposed in 2001, it has been monitoring the power system frequency in interconnected United States power systems and numerous interesting behaviors have been observed, including frequency excursion propagation. We address the consistency of a frequency excursion detection order of frequency disturbance recorders in FNET in relation to the same generation trip, as well as the ability to recreate by power systems dynamic simulation. We also propose a new method, as an application of FNET measurement, to locate a tripped generator using power systems dynamic simulation and wide-area frequency measurement. The simulation database of all the possible trips of generators in the interconnected power systems is created using the off-line power systems dynamic simulation. When FNET detects a sudden drop in the monitoring frequency, which is most likely due to a generation trip in power systems, the proposed algorithm locates a tripped generator by finding the best matching case of the measured frequency excursion in the simulation database in terms of the frequency drop detection order and the time of monitoring points.
Recent power converting system for an electric train has characteristics of a complex electromechanical system, which includes VVVF inverter, bidirectional converter, ac motor and controller and etc. So in order to analysis its dynamic characteristics reliably, a powerful and flexible simulation technique is needed. Concerned with this respect, because the Simulink has a veriety of powerful functions and analysis tools not available in conventional power electronics simulation packages, it can be effectively applied to the simulation of the power converting system. In this paper, a schematically similar model for an electric train power converting system is derived on the Simulink Window, based on the Dynamic Node Technique, and several simulations have been implemented with the model. With the simulation results, the characteristics of the power converting system and the easeness of the proposed Simulink-based simulation technique could be verified clearly.
This paper deals with high-Tc superconducting (HTS) power charging system with GdBCO magnet, photo-voltaic (PV) controller, and solar panels to charge solar energy. When combining the HTS magnet and the solar energy charging system, additional power source is not required therefore it is possible to obtain high power efficiency. Since there is no resistance in superconducting magnet carrying DC transport current the energy losses caused by joule heating can be reduced. In this paper, the charging characteristics of HTS power charging system was simulated by using PSIM. The charging current of HTS superconducting power charging system is measured and compared with the simulation results. Using the simulation of HTS power charging system, it can be applied to the solar energy applications.

Voltage instability has been studied for some decade now. But, There is not generally accepted definition of voltage instability because of the complex phenomenon and the variety of ways in which it can manifest itself. Both IEEE and CIGRE have the respective definitions. The areas of voltage instability research are the analysis, simulation and countermeasure of voltage instability. It needs to model the components of the power system to simulate the voltage instability and voltage collapse. At the beginning, the static simulation was used. This method provides the voltage stability indices and it requires less CPU resource and gives much insight into the voltage and power problem. However, it is less accurate than the dynamic simulation peformed in the time domain simulation. So, when it appears difficult to secure the voltage stability margin in a static stability, it is necessary to perform the dynamic simulation. To perform time-domain simulation, we have to model the dynamic component of the power system like a generator and a load. The dynamic simulation provides the accurate result of the voltage instability. But, it is not able to provide the sensitivity information or the degree of stability and it is time consuming and it needs much CPU resource. In this Paper, we perform a dynamic simulation of voltage instability and voltage collapse using EMTP MODELS. The exponential load model is designed with MODEIS and this load model is connected with test power system. The result shows the process of voltage change in time domain when the voltage instability or voltage collapse occurs.
A fast decoupled algorithm for time domain simulation of power electronics circuits is presented. The circuits can be arbitrarily configured and can incorporate feedback amplifier circuits. This simulation algorithm is performed for the input series output parallel connected 2 switch forward converter. Steady state and large signal transient responses due to a step load change are simulated. The simulation results are verified through experiments.
This paper presents a simulation method with constant power model for the train load. In power system simulation loads could be modeled as a constant power, constant current, constant Impedance or a function of voltage and frequency. At this time, however, representing a train load as the function is difficult because of the lack of data. Therefore as a first step, simulation method with a constant power model fer a train is studied, and the test result is compared with the simulation result using the constant Impedance model.

This paper presents an advanced modeling and simulation technique applied to DC/DC power electronic converters fed through renewable energy power sources. The distributed generation (DG) system at the Illinois Institute of Technology, which employs a phase-l system consisting of a photovoltaic-based power system and a phase-2 system consisting of a fuel cell based primary power source, is studied. The modeling and simulation of the DG system is done using the generalized state space averaging (GSSA) method. Furthermore, the paper compares the results achieved upon simulation of the specific GSSA models with those of popular computer aided design software simulations performed on the same system. Finally, the GSSA and CAD software simulation results are accompanied with test results achieved via experimentation on both, the PV-based phase-l system and the fuel cell based phase-2 power system.
