New Discrete-Time Modeling and Simulation Techniques for PWM converters (PWM 컨버터에 대한 새로운 이산시간 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 기법)

  • New discrete-time modeling and simulation techniques are proposed which take advantages of the special features of PWM converter power stages and their compensation circuits. These techniques provide reduction of system order, and allow for the faster simulation without any numerical convergence problem. A buck converter with two-stage output filter Is employed to confirm the usefulness of the proposed techniques. The simulation results show these techniques can simulate the responoes of PWM converter system up to high frequencies.

  • This paper presents a study of DFIG wind power generation system for real-time simulation. For real-time simulation, the real-time digital simulator (RTDS) and its user friendly interface simulation software (RSCAD) are used. 2.2MW grid-connected variable speed DFIG wind power generation system is modeled and analyzed in this study. Stator-flux oriented vector control scheme is applied to stator, rotor side converter control, and back-to-back PWM converters are implemented for the decoupled control. The real-wind speed signal extracted by an anemometer is used for realistic and accurate simulation analysis. Block diagrams for DFIG and control scheme of stator, rotor-side are introduced. Real-time simulation cases are carried out and analyzed for the validity of this work.

  • Computer simulation was carried out to predict the motion and overturns of power tiller-trailer system this system when traveing over an obstacle on inclined planes. To estimate the effects of design factors (mass center of main body and wheel base), ground factors (ground inclination and height of obstacle), and operation factors (traveling velocity) on the sideways overturn, the motion of power tiller-trailer system was simulated as the factors were varied with five different levels.

  • This paper describes the faun phenomena by the simulation in power system including underground transmission power cable. Studying on fault phenomena is a very important part to decide the circuit breaker, protective relay and system configuration. Simulation was carried out in several different model system depended upon cable kinds using PSCAD/EMTDC, which is one of the transient program. The simulated results show the possibility to analyze transient phenomena for the cable system.

  • In this paper, the power simulation is used for the prediction of regenerative energy and examination of install location of regenerative inverter for DC railway system. The power simulation was composed to train performance simulation(TPS) and power flow simulation. We performed the power simulation for Seoul subway line 5 and 7, calculation of regenerative energy and examination of substations where regenerative inverter is installed.

  • In this paper, authors developed a real-time simulation algorithm for the power device application of HTS(High Temperature Superconducting) wire by using Real Time Digital Simulator(RTDS). At present, in order to extend the power capacity of some area where has a serious problem of power quality. especially metropolitan complex city, there are so many problems such as right of way for power line routes. space for downtown substations. and the environmental protection, etc. HTS technology can be useful to overcome this problem. Recently, according to the advanced HTS technology, the power application is being researched well. Simulation is required for safety before installation of HTS power cable, a fabrication model used at the power system simulation. This paper describes a real time digital simulation method for the application of HTS wire to power device. For the simulation analysis, test sample of HTS wire was actually manufactured. And the transient phenomenon of the HTS wire was analysed in the simulated utility power grid. This simulation method is the world first trial in order to obtain much better information for installation of HTS power device into a utility network.

  • This paper presents an improved maximum power point tracking method that can fast track the global maximum power point (GMPP) for a photovoltaic system under partial shading conditions. The proposed method combines the advantages of the maximum power trapezium (MPT) method and the search-skip-judge method to minimize the tracking voltage intervals. Thus, the proposed method can quickly track the GMPP by skipping unnecessary tracking voltage intervals. The superiority of the proposed method is verified through simulation results in the MATLAB/Simulink and experimental real-time operation results with the hardware-in-the-loop simulation. The simulation and experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method has a faster tracking time than the MPT method under various partial shading conditions.

  • Vehicle electric power system, which consists of two major components; an alternator and a battery, supplies electric power to vehicle electric and electronic systems. In recent years, bigger power supply is required for the rapid demand of the number of vehicle electric and electronic systems. It is important that vehicle power system should be analyzed exactly. For the simulation of vehicle electric power system, appropriate component model of vehicle electric power system should be chosen. In this paper, a simplified and accurate battery model is developed to obtain the battery parameters, and a Variable Alternator Terminal Voltage Model is introduced to described an alternator. The case study shows that simulation results using the suggested models are well agreed with the experiments.

  • This paper describes the operation mode development for the grid-tied PMSG(permanent magnet synchronous generator) wind power system combined with a battery energy storage. The development of operation modes was carried out through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software and experiments with a 10kW hardware prototype. The detailed simulation models for PMSG wind power system and battery energy storage were developed using user-defined models programed with C-code. A 10kW hardware simulator was built and tested in connection with the local load and the utility power. The simulation and experimental results confirm that the grid-tied PMSG wind power system combined with battery energy storage can supply highly reliable power to the local load in various operation modes.

  • This paper proposes a soft-switching current -source inverter with a sitched-capacitor module The system operation was analyzed by a theoretical approach with equivalent circuits and verified by a computer simulation with ISPICE software. The proposed system could be effectively applied for the power converter of photovoltaic power generation interconnected with the power system.
