  • The current source HVDC using thyristor valves requires the reactive power compensator, the increasement of short circuit ratio(SCR) by AC source, and the harmonic filter in power transmission. The voltage source HVDC that controls active power and reactive power independently can minimize the requirements and also can be used as a reactive power source without additional reactive power compensators. In this paper, the solution of supplying active power using direct current transmission and compensating additional reactive power at the heavy load zone in metropolitan area is proposed and verified by simulations.

  • The Voltage Source Converter (VSC) is replacing the conventional line commutated current source converters in High Voltage DC (HVDC) transmission systems. The control of a two-level voltage source converter and its design dealt with HVDC systems and various factors such as reactive power, power factor, and harmonics distortion are discussed in detail. Simulation results are given for the two-level converter and designed control is used for bidirectional power flow. The harmonics minimization is taken by extending the 6-pulse VSC to multipulse voltage source converters. The control is also tested and simulated for a 12-pulse voltage source converter to minimize the harmonic distortion in AC currents.

  • In this paper, we composed of utility interactive pv generation system of voltage source inverter, and represented uninterrutible power supply (UPS) equipment maintaining constant voltage, using a pulse width modulation(PWM) voltage fed inverter, as power source disconnection, voltage variation and output current variation with load variation. This system is driven by being synchronized voltage fed inverter and AC source, and in the steady state of power source charge battery connected to dc side with solar cell using a photovoltaic (PV) that it was so called constant voltage charge. In addition, better output waveform was generated because of PWM method, and it was proved to test by experiment maintained constant output voltage regardless of AC source disconnection, load variation, and voltage variation of AC power source.

  • In this paper, we have designed and manufactured 10MHz power source for the application of short distance wireless power transmission. The designed power source consists of a DDS(direct digital synthesizer) signal generator, a buffer driver and a balanced power amplifier. Short range wireless power transmission is usually carried out by near-field inductive coupling between source and load. The distance variation between source and load gives rise to the change of load impedance of power amplifier, which has effect on the operation of power amplifier. To overcome this problem due to load variation of power amplifier, we have adopted the balanced power amplifier using the quadrature hybrid implemented by lumped capacitors and a mutually coupled coil. The experiment results show the above 40dBm output power, frequency range of 9 to 11MHz, and total DC power consumption of 36W.

  • Recently as distributed source has increased, the distribution system has changed from unidirectional power flow to bi-directional power flow. This power flow causes the PCC voltage variation, which can adversely affect voltage sensitive loads. In this paper, the relation between the active power, reactive power and PCC voltage of the distributed source is analyzed, and the PCC voltage control scheme by reactive power compensation is proposed in the distributed source itself. In addition, limitations and conditions according to the standard for interconnecting distributed resources are specified and verified through simulation.

Morphology Evolution of GaAs(100) Surfaces during Inductively Coupled Plasma Etching at Biased Potential (유도결합 플라즈마 식각시 bias에 의한 GaAs(100) 표면의 형태 변화)

  • We present the morphological evolution at different source powers in the ion-enhanced etching of GaAs(100) in $BCl_3-Cl_2$ plasma. With little ion bombardment at floating potential, the surface develops <110> ridges and {111} facets, as it does in purely chemical etching. Higher source power (900 W) produces well developed crystallographic surfaces while lower source power (100 W) produces poorly developed crystallographic surfaces. This is attributed to the availability of excited reactive species (chlorine atoms) depending on source powers. With more concentration of the reactive species at higher source powers, the surface of GaAs(100) would be a surface that is expected from thermodynamics while the surface morphology would be determined by sputtering in the lack of reactive species. Statistical analysis of the surfaces, based on scaling theory, revealed two spatial exponents: one (smaller than one) is formed by atomic scale mechanisms, the other (larger than one) is formed by larger scale mechanisms which is believed to develop facets. When samples are biased, the surfaces experienced bombardment resulting in suppression of ridge formation at high source power and islands formation at low source power.

  • Power packet (PP) distribution system distributes power to different loads that share the same distribution cable in a packetized form. When compared with conventional power systems, a PP distribution system (PPDS) can reduce standby power, eliminate Point-of-Load (PoL) power conversion, and intelligently control the load demand from the source side. Due to the absence of PoL conversion, when multiple power sources at different voltage levels and conditioning requirements jointly send power to various loads at different voltage ratings, the generated voltage has an irregular shape. A large filter at each of the load sides is required to reduce such a large voltage ripple. In this paper, a single-inductor, multiple-input-single-output converter structure based multiple-energy-source mixer is proposed. It combines PP generation, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of renewable energy sources (RESs) and filtering at the source side. To demonstrate the possible renewable energy integration, a PV panel is used as a power source together with other constant voltage sources. The PV power is approximately tracked using the constant voltage method and it is used for each of the PP generations. The proposed PP distribution system is experimentally verified and it is shown that a conventional PI controller is sufficient for stable system operation.

Analysis of Switching Clamped Oscillations of SiC MOSFETs

  • SiC MOSFETs have been used to improve system efficiency in high frequency converters due to their extremely high switching speed. However, this can result in undesirable parasitic oscillations in practical systems. In this paper, models of the key components are introduced first. Then, theoretical formulas are derived to calculate the switching oscillation frequencies after full turn-on and turn-off in clamped inductive circuits. Analysis indicates that the turn-on oscillation frequency depends on the power loop parasitic inductance and parasitic capacitances of the freewheeling diode and load inductor. On the other hand, the turn-off oscillation frequency is found to be determined by the output parasitic capacitance of the SiC MOSFET and power loop parasitic inductance. Moreover, the shifting regularity of the turn-off maximum peak voltage with a varying switching speed is investigated on the basis of time domain simulation. The distortion of the turn-on current is theoretically analyzed. Finally, experimental results verifying the above calculations and analyses are presented.

펄스 플라즈마를 이용한 라디칼 제어에 의한 실리콘 건식 식각시 RIE lag 개선에 관한 연구

  • 본 논문에서는 HBr, O2 gas를 사용하여 나노급 반도체 디바이스에 응용되는 실리콘 트렌치 패턴의 건식 식각시 중요한 인자중의 하나인 RIE (Reactive Ion Etching) Lag현상에 관하여 연구하였다. 실험에서 사용된 식각 장치는 유도 결합 플라즈마(Inductively Coupled Plasma) 식각 장치로써, Source Power및 기판에 인가되는 Bias power 모두 13.56 MHz로 구동되는 장치이며, Source Power와 Bias Power 각각에 펄스 플라즈마를 인가할 수 있도록 제작 되어있다. HBr과 O2 gas를 사용한 트렌치 식각 중 발생하는 식각 부산물인 SiO는 프로파일 제어에 중요한 역할을 함과 동시에, 표면 산화로 인해 Trench 폭을 작게 만들어 RIE lag를 심화시킨다. Br은 실리콘을 식각하는 중요한 라디칼이며, SiO는 실리콘과 O 라디칼의 반응으로부터 형성되는 식각 부산물이다. SiO가 많으면, 실리콘 표면의 산화가 많이 진행될 것을 예측할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 RIE lag도 나빠지게 된다. 본 실험에서는 Continuous Plasma와 Bias Power의 펄스, Source Power의 펄스를 각각 적용하고, 각각의 경우 Br과 SiO 라디칼의 농도를 Actinometrical OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy) tool을 사용하여 비교하였다. 두 라디칼 모두 Continuous Plasma와 Bias Power 펄스에 의해서는 변화가 없는 반면, Source Power 펄스에 의해서만 변화를 보였다. Source Power 값이 증가함에 따라 Br/SiO 라디칼 비가 증가함을 알 수 있었고, 표면 산화가 적게 형성됨을 예측할 수 있다. 이 조건의 경우, Continuous Plasma대비 Source Power 펄스에 의하여 RIE lag가 30.9 %에서 12.8 %로 현격히 개선된 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, 식각된 실리콘의 XPS 분석 결과, Continuous Plasma대비 Source Power 펄스의 경우 표면 산화층이 적게 형성되었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 식각 중 발생한 Br과 SiO 라디칼을 Source Power펄스에 의한 제어로 RIE lag를 개선할 수 있으며, 이러한 라디칼의 변화는 Actinometrical OES tool을 사용하여 검증할 수 있음을 보여준다.

The Effects of Power-of-Speech and Sex of Source on Persuasion, in Radio CM (라디오 광고에서 언어 힘의 설득 효과와 정보원 성(性)의 영향)

  • The main purpose of this study is to examine whether power-of-speech have an impact on persuasion in radio CM and to determine what is stronger variable either power-of-speech or sex of source. Previous research showed confused result about this issue. Some research supposed the effect of power-of-speech depend on sex of source/Carli, 1990) but the others supposed it is not(Holtgraves & Lasky, 1999; Erickson, Lind, Johnson, & O'Barr, 1978). So present research is designed to show empirical evidence about this issue examining the interaction between effect of power-of-speech and sex of source. Result revealed that power-of-speech affects strongly on persuasion and that effect have no interaction with sex of source. This result means that the effect of power-of-speech is stronger than the effect of sex of source. But in attitude toward product exceptionally, female source using powerful speech induce more favorable attitude toward product than female source using powerless speech whereas male source using powerful and powerless speech induce same attitude toward product.
