  • Ultrafine NiO/YSZ (Yttria Stabilized Zirconia) powders were made by using a glycine nitrate process which is used as anode material for solid oxide fuel cells. The specific surface areas of synthesized NiO/YSZ powders were examined with controlling pH of a precursor solution and the content of glycine. The binding of glycine with metal nitrates occurring in the precursor solution was analyzed by using FTIR. The characteristics of synthesized powders were examined with X-ray diffraction(XRD) Brunauer Emmett Teller with N2 absorption. scanning electron microscopy (SEM). and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Ultrafine NiO/YSZ powders of 15-18 m2/g were obtained through GNP when the content of glycine was controlled to 1 or 2 times the stoichiometric ratio in the precursor solutions. Strongly acid precursor solution increased the specific surface area of the synthesized powders. This is suggested to be the increased binding of metal nitrates and glycine under a strong acid solution of pH=0.5 that lets glycine consist of mainly the amine group of {{{{ { NH}`_{3 } ^{+ } }}. After sintering and reducing treatment of NiO/YSZ powders synthesized by GNP the Ni/YSZ pellet showed ideal microstructure where very fine Ni particles of 3-5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were distributed uniformly and fine pore around Ni metal particles was formed. leading to anincrease of the triple phase boundary among gas Ni and YSZ.

  • This study aims to obtain technical data for improvement of utilization of Blast Furnace Slag(BFS), recycled aggregate in the future by complementing fundamental problems of BFS such as manifestation of initial strength and excessive alkali quantity as well as weakness of recycled fine aggregate through manufacturing of recycled fine aggregate mortar using BFS. Since hydroxide ion concentration of calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) ion erupted from recycled fine aggregate newly produced is over 12. In recycled fine aggregate mortar transposing and using BFS powder, calcium hydroxide(Ca(OH)2) erupted from recycled fine aggregate played a role of stimulus from the day 3 and manifestation of compressive strength was slowly increased with mortar using natural fine aggregate and showed considerable increase from the day 7.

  • The antioxidant activity was examined on ultra-fine powdered (UFP) Ulmus davidiana (U. davidiana) var. japonica. The average particle size of UFP or commercial powdered (CP) was $1-3{\mu}m$ or $100{\mu}m$. The extraction was performed using either ethanol (EtOH) or hot-water. Contents of phenolic compound of CP and UFP U. davidiana extracts in EtOH was 40.38 and 65.61 mg/g, respectively. In DPPH, EtOH extract of UFP U. davidiana showed a significantly greater activity than hot-water extract at 40 and $200{\mu}g/mL$. At $200{\mu}g/mL$, the activity was over 90% in all groups. The reducing power of UFP U. davidiana var. japonica in EtOH extraction was 74.3%, which was significantly greater than in other samples (p<0.05). In addition, reducing powder was significantly higher in UFP-EtOH than in other samples at all concentrations except for $0.32{\mu}g/mL$. The above results suggest that EtOH extraction of U. davidiana showed slightly higher DPPH radical scavenging activity, and ultra-fine powder of U. davidiana extracts may show higher antioxidative activities based on reducing power.

  • Recently, we have witnessed the gradual miniaturization of electronic devices. In miniaturized devices, flip-chip bonding has become a necessity over other bonding methods. For the electrical connections in miniaturized devices, fine-pitch solder bumping has been widely studied. In this study, high-volume solder-on-pad (HV-SoP) technology was developed using a novel maskless printing method. For the new SoP process, we used a special material called a solder bump maker (SBM). Using an SBM, which consists of resin and solder powder, uniform bumps can easily be made without a mask. To optimize the height of solder bumps, various conditions such as the mask design, oxygen concentration, and processing method are controlled. In this study, a double printing method, which is a modification of a general single printing method, is suggested. The average, maximum, and minimum obtained heights of solder bumps are $28.3{\mu}m$, $31.7{\mu}m$, and $26.3{\mu}m$, respectively. It is expected that the HV-SoP process will reduce the costs for solder bumping and will be used for electrical interconnections in fine-pitch flip-chip bonding.

  • The aim of this study was to utilize ferronickel slag produced in the manufacture of stainless steel as a flowable backfill material for underground use using crushed fine powder. Experimental combinations were made using two components: Case A (sand) and Case B (soil). The optimal mixing ratio of Case A was sand (58.4%), ferronickel slag fine powder (21.6%), cement (1.8%), and water (18.2%). In the case of B, the optimal mixing ratio was determined to be soil (53.0%), ferronickel slag fine powder (20.0%), cement (1.7%), and water (25.3%). The uniaxial compressive strength of case A, which is a mixture of ordinary sand and ferronickel slag powder, was relatively larger than that of case B using soil. In addition, the strength of the specimen increased with increasing curing time. The uniaxial compressive strength tended to increase with increasing curing time. In addition, the unconfined compression strength of the fluid backfill material using common sand as the main material was relatively larger than that of the mixed material using soil as the main material. In case A, the uniaxial compressive strength ranged from 0.17-0.33 MPa, 0.21-0.39 MPa, and 0.19-0.40 MPa, respectively, at curing times of 7, 14, and 28 days. From the experimental results, it was concluded that the ratio of FNS powder and cement mixture was the most appropriate for Case A3. Case B, which used soil as the main material, showed a similar tendency to Case A. As a result of the dissolution test for evaluating the environmental harm of the FNS fine powder, there was no dissolution of substances harmful to the environment.

  • Recently, the broken concrete lumps resulting from the demolition of concrete structures are creshed for reuse as aggregates(i.e. recycled fine and gravel). And also, in the processing of crusing, the recycled powder of an equivalent of between 20% to 30% by wt.% of the broken concrete lumps is generated. The extensive research of recycled concrete aggregates has been carried out in various parts of the world. But less reseatch on the reuse of recycled concrete powder has been carried out. It is the purpose of this report that the study on the quality evaluation of recycled aggregates for recycled concrete. In specially, this report deals with the properties such as flow, compressive strength, bending strength, drying shrinkage and wight loss rate of mortars replaced standard fine aggregate with recycled powders at the rate of 3, 7, 15, 20 and 30 wt.%. Since the characteristics of recycled mortars with the recycled powders were comparable to those of the normal mortar without the recycled powders as described above, its concretes could be found extensive application in such field as concrete products.

  • The structural ceramic, such as $A1_2O_3,\;ZrO_2\;and\;Si_3N_4$ have applied as several parts of precision machines, automotives and instruments for semiconductor. The mechanical properties depended on purity, morphology and microstructure of the ceramic and its fabrication process. High purity and fine starting powder for the structural ceramic was prepared mainly by wet process and powder processing such as milling, mixing, drying and granulating strongly influenced on the fabrication process. Powder processing included powder synthesis technology is essential for ceramic manufacture. Also, the advanced mechanical treat[neat in powder processing to create nano composite powder was developed to improve several properties of ceramic materials. Innovation of powder processing will lead to improve mechanical and functional properties of the ceramics.
