  • Fine nickel metal powder of uniform morphology, narrow size distribution, and high purity was prepared from high purity metal solution. Slurry reduction method for the synthesis of metal powder was applied with a special interest in their fine and spherical shape. The products were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Well dispersed ultrafine nickel powder with the particle size range of 100~200 nm was produced from Ni-hydrazine precursor using hydrazine as a reductant for 90 min reaction in 4.5 M NaOH solution.

  • This study aims to examine the influence of the unit powder content of concrete and the fine aggregate ration of high flowing concrete after the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate. According to the experimental results, flowbility and compating of concrete presents the best states in the S/a which has the smallest void ratio. The coarse aggregate after improvement of grain shape has been changed from 0.68 circular ratio of disc shape to 0.73 circular shape. It lead to be down 6% of fine aggregate ratio (from 47% to 41%), which is satisfactory to compacting. Also, the improvement of grain shape of the coarse aggregate lead the lowest unit powder content to be down 60kg/㎥ from (530kg/㎥ to 470kg/㎥). And about 11% unit water content can be reduced as unit powder conent is down.

  • This study is about the compensation of early age strength on mortar and concrete admixed with blast-furnace slag powder. For study, we have used fine powder of gypsum and kiln dust from cement factory. According to the test results, we have obtained proper mixing ratio of slag powder, gypsum and kiln dust for the compensation of early age strength on mortar and concrete property.

  • Sintered materials have been applied widely in Valve Seat Inserts (VSI). The demands for VSIs are not only good heat and wear resistance but also good machinability. The sintered materials, which are made of a mixture of manganese containing iron powder and certain types of sulfide powder, have superior machinability due to precipitation of the fine MnS particles in the matrix. This report introduces a new VSI material, which has both superior machinability, and wear resistance due to applies of this "MnS precipitation" technique.

  • In this study, we considered the characteristic of drying shrinkage from age of high strength concrete with garnet minute powder to be industry by-product. The factors of experiment are unit water content$(160kg/m^3)$, water-binder ratio(30, $35\%$), fine aggregate ratio(40, 42, $44\%$), admixture replacement ratio(0, 10, $20\%$), admixture type(garnet minute powder, fly ash, blast-furnace slag). We make a comparative study of shrinkage about concrete with a passage of age(1, 3, 7, 14, 28, 56, 91 days). As a result of experiment, we reach a conclusion as follow. In the same mix condition, as unit water content and fine aggregate ratio go up, the drying shrinkage ratio increase. In the drying shrinkage ratio according to admixture replacement ratio, it goes up when admixture replacement Ratio increase in case of fly ash and blast-furnace slag. But, drying shrinkage ratio decrease when admixture replacement ratio increase in case of garnet minute powder.

  • Ultra fine titanium carbide particles were synthesized by novel metallic thermo-reduction process. The vaporized TiC1$_4$+$CCl_4$ gases were reacted with liquid magnesium and the fine titanium carbide particles were then produced by combining the released titanium and carbon atoms. The vacuum treatment was followed to remove the residual phases of MgC1$_2$ and excess Mg. The stoichiometry, microstructure, fixed and carbon contents and lattice parameter were investigated in titanium carbide powders produced in various reaction parameters.

  • The bond strength of metal to ceramic sealing in Mo-Mn metallizing was investigated by examining the effects of flux composition in alumina ceramics particle size of molybdenum metal powder wet hydrogen atmosphere and temperature in metallizing. The maximum bond strength was obtained when the glass phase filled almost all the microstructural cavities around the interfacial area with few micropores. Such a favorable microstrcutre waas formed and maximum bond strength was observed between 130$0^{\circ}C$. Also the metal to ceramic bond strength was increased using finer molybdenum metal powder than coarse powder. When content of $SiO_2$ in the flux of alumina ceramics was constant metal to ceramic bond strength was improved with increasing the ratio of CaO to MgO in the flux.

  • Microstructural and mechanical characteristics of P/M 6061 Al alloy subjected to equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) were investigated. The P/M 6061 Al alloy had an intial grain size of approximately $20\mutextrm{m}$. An equiaxed ultra-fine grained structure with the mean grain size of $~50 \mutextrm{m}$ was obtained by four repetitive ECAP at 473 K. The microhardness of P/M 6061 Al alloy was drastically increased from about 40 Hv to 80 Hv by two repetitive ECAP at 373 K. However, the microhardness decreased with increasing ECAP temperature. The tensile stength of as-hot-pressed P/M 6061 Al alloy before ECAP was 95 MPa, whereas it increased to both 248 MPa after two repetitive ECAP at 373 K and 130 MPa after four repetitive ECAP at 473 K. The tensile properties of the ECAPed sample were compared with those of commercial cast 6061-O and 6061-T4 Al alloys.

  • Ultra-fine grained and dispersion-strengthened titanium materials (Ti-Si, Ti-C, Ti-Si-C) have been produced by high energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS). Silicon or/and carbon were milled together with the titanium powder to form nanometer-sized and homogeneously distributed titanium silicides or/and carbides as dispersoids, that should prevent grain coarsening during the SPS compaction and contribute to strengthening of the material. The microstructures and the mechanical properties showed that strength, hardness and wear resistance of the sintered materials have been significantly improved by the mechanisms of grain refinement and dispersion strengthening. The use of an organic fluid as carrier of the dispersoid forming elements caused a significant increase in ductility.
