Current [Guideline for Installation and Management of Sidewalks and Safety Facilities on Roads] suggests that the types of curbs should be Barrier curb ($85^{\circ}$). Although Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$) were not specified in the guideline. The curbs installed on the roads currently are Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$) which are not specified in the installation standard. Therefore, it is critical to prepare for the installation standard of curbs by researching types of curbs and driving safety. This research have assessed the driving safety throughout Full Scale Crash Test according to type of curbs (Barrier curbs ($85^{\circ}$) and Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$)). Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$) showed higher figure in Theoretical head Impact Velocity, Post-impact Head Deceleration, Vehicle Damage when Crash, Passenger's Wounds Severity, and every other items than Barrier curbs ($85^{\circ}$). Barrier curbs ($85^{\circ}$) were found to have better Occupant Safety Index. Analysis of Behavior Using Full-Scale Crash Test showed difference depending on the Impact Condition between Barrier curbs ($85^{\circ}$) and Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$). Generally, Barrier curbs ($85^{\circ}$) were superior than Barrier curbs ($90^{\circ}$) in terms of protecting the passengers and vehicle damages. When an impact angle increases, Acceleration of Vehicle, Variations of Speed, and Contact Relationship between Wheels and Curbs, two types of curb showed similarity. However, if an impact of an angle decreases, Barrier Curbs ($85^{\circ}$) showed excellence in Driving Safety such as Acceleration of Vehicle, Variations of Speed, and Contact Relationship between Wheels and Curbs.
Brine leakage is a common phenomenon during construction facilitated by artificial freezing technique, threatening the stability of frozen wall due to the continual thawing of already frozen domain. This paper takes the frequently encountered soft clay in Wujiang District as the study object, and remolded specimens were prepared by mixing calcium chloride solutions at five levels of concentration. Both the deformation and pore water pressure of frozen specimens during thawing were investigated by two-stage loading tests. Three sections were noted from the changes in the strain rate of specimens during thawing at the first-stage load, i.e., instantaneous, attenuated, and quasi-stable sections. During the second-stage loading, the deformation of post-thawed soils is closely correlated with the dissipation of pore water pressure. Two characteristic indexes were obtained including thaw-settlement coefficient and critical water content. The critical water content increases positively with salt content. The higher water content of soil leads to a larger thaw-settlement coefficient, especially at higher salt contents, based on which an empirical equation was proposed and verified. The normalized pore water pressure during thawing was found to dissipate slower at higher salt contents, with a longer duration to stabilize. Three physical indexes were experimentally determined such as freezing point, heat conductivity and water permeability. The freezing point decreases at higher salt contents, especially as more water is involved, like the changes in heat conductivity. The water permeability maintains within the same order at the considered range of salt contents, like the development of the coefficient of consolidation. The variation of the pore volume distribution also accounts for this.

The results of an experimental and analytical study of composite pressure hull on buckling pressure are presented for URN 300. We predicted the buckling and post buckling analysis of composite laminated cylindrical shell and panel under external compression by using ABAQUS/Standard[Ver 6.4]. To obtain nonlinear static equilibrium solutions for unstable problems, where the load-displacement response can exhibit the type of nonlinear buckling behavior, during periods of the response, the load and/or the displacement may decrease as the solution evolves, used the modified Riks method. Experiments were conducted to verify the validation of present analysis for cross-ply laminated shells. The shells considered in the study have four different lamination patterns, [${\pm}{\Theta}$/0/90]$_{14s}$,[${\pm}{\Theta}_{14}$/$0_{14}$/$90_{14}$],[${\pm}$45/0/90]$_{18s}$ and [/0/90]$_{18s}$. At the result of this study, the optimized ply orientation angle is $75^{\circ}$. The critical load from experiment is 69% of that of numerical analysis, because the fracture of matrix was generated before buckling. So URN 300 is not proper to use at the condition under high external pressure.

In this manuscript, static and dynamic behaviors of geometrically imperfect carbon nanotubes (CNTs) subject to different types of end conditions are investigated. The Doublet Mechanics (DM) theory, which is length scale dependent theory, is used in the analysis. The Euler-Bernoulli kinematic and nonlinear mid-plane stretching effect are considered through analysis. The governing equation of imperfect CNTs is a sixth order nonlinear integro-partial-differential equation. The buckling problem is discretized via the differential-integral-quadrature method (DIQM) and then it is solved using Newton's method. The equation of linear vibration problem is discretized using DIQM and then solved as a linear eigenvalue problem to get natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes. The DIQM results are compared with analytical ones available in the literature and excellent agreement is obtained. The numerical results are depicted to illustrate the influence of length scale parameter, imperfection amplitude and shear foundation constant on critical buckling load, post-buckling configuration and linear vibration behavior. The current model is effective in designing of NEMS, nano-sensor and nano-actuator manufactured by CNTs.
Structures may need retrofitting as a result of design and calculation errors, lack of proper implementation, post-construction change in use, damages due to accidental loads, corrosion and changes introduced in new editions of construction codes. Retrofitting helps to compensate weakness and increase the service life. Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) is a modern material for retrofitting steel elements. This study aims to investigate the effect of deficiency location on the axial behavior of compressive elements of Circular Hollow Section (CHS) steel short columns. The deficiencies located vertically or horizontally at the middle or bottom of the element. A total of 43 control column and those with deficiencies were investigated in the ABAQUS software. Only 9 of them tested in the laboratory. The results indicated that the deficiencies had a significant effect on the increase in axial deformation, rupture in deficiency zone (local buckling), and decrease in ductility and bearing capacity. The damages of steel columns were responsible for resistance and stiffness drop at deficiency zone. Horizontal deficiency at the middle and vertical deficiency at the bottom of the steel columns were found to be the most critical. Using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) as the most effective material in retrofitting the damaged columns, significantly helped the increase in resistance and rupture control around the deficiency zone.
Birth weight and subsequent weight gain is of critical importance in the survival and performance of piglets on a commercial swine farm setting. Oropharyngeal microbiome could influence immunity, and feeding behavior thus impacting health and weight gain. We used 16S rRNA gene sequencing to profile the composition and predicted metabolic functionality of the oropharyngeal microbiota in 8 piglets (4 with a birthweight ≤ 1.0 kg and 4 with a birthweight ≥ 1.7 kg) at 11, 26, and 63 days of age. We found 9 genera that were significantly associated with average daily gain (ADG) at 11 days (false discovery rate, FDR < 0.05) and 26 days of age (FDR < 0.1), respectively. The microbial functional profile revealed several pathways associated with ADG (FDR < 0.05). Among these, pathways related to degradation of catechols showed a positive association with ADG at 11, 26, and 63 days of age, implying a potential to breakdown the host-derived catecholamines. We also noted that pathways related to the biodegradation of nucleosides and nucleotides increased with ADG during the pre-weaning phase, while those involved in their biosynthesis decreased. Our findings provide insights into the oropharyngeal microbial memberships and metabolic pathways that are involved in a piglet's weight gain. Thus, providing a basis for the development of strategies aimed at improving weight gain in pigs.
The primary objective of this paper is to grasp many characteristics of buckling behavior of latticed spherical domes under various conditions. The Arc-Length Method proposed by E.Riks is used for the computation and evaluation of geometrically nonlinear fundamental equilibrium paths and bifurcation points. And the direction of the path after the bifurcation point is decided by means of Hosono's concept. Three different nonlinear stiffness matrices of the Slope-Deflection Method are derived for the system with rigid nodes and results of the numerical analysis are examined in regard to geometrical parameters such as slenderness ratio, half-open angle, boundary conditions, and various loading types. But in case of analytical model 2 (rigid node), the post-buckling path could not be surveyed because of Newton-Raphson iteration process being diversed on the critical point since many eigenvalues become zero simultaneously.

The aims of this study was to determine the mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading, and also to insestigate the mechanism fiber reinforcement in order to improve the possible applications of steel-fiber reinforced concrete. In this study the major variables of experimental investigation were fiber conntents, and the lengths and diameters of fibers. The major results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The strength, elastic modulus and energy absorption capability of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading were improved as increasing of fiber contents. 2. The direct tensile strength of steel-fiber reinforced concrete was not influenced by the lengths of fiber, but was decreased as increasing of fiber diameters. 3. The direct tensile strength of steel-fiber reinforced concrete was not influenced by the fiber aspect-ratio, but this was because the fiber contents were below the critical value of fiber content. 4. The correlation of direct tensile strength and combined parameter, Vf l/d, was not good. 5. Mutiple cracking and post-crack resistance were investigated at stress-strain curves in direct tensile test. 6. The effect of fiber reinforcement can be influenced by fiber orientation and the bond strength between fiber and matrix. 7. The improvement of mechanical properties of steel-fiber reinforced concrete under direct tensile loading can be theoretically explained by the concept of composite materials.
This study investigates the developmental pattern of adhesive discs (ADs) to highlight the ontogeny and structural changes that occur during the growth of Boston ivy. Initiation to postmortem features of ADs were examined through light and scanning electron microscopy. The study also reveals a new finding of the dislocation of peripheral tissues of adaxial origin. Four phases of attachment are suggested with regards to its climbing behavior: 1) pre-attachment, 2) upon attachment, 3) after attachment, and 4) final attachment. During initiation, several ADs originate from tendril primordia without epidermal differentiation. However, different growth rates in the epidermis results in completely different ADs. ADs were discerned by size, shape, and color during expansion, but cells in the adaxial surface remained alive longer than the other side. Upon contact, the ADs demonstrate simultaneous growth and deterioration, but once attachment is established the latter process subdues to final stages. Epidermal transformation, adhesive secretion, cellular disruption, and mechanical stress were essential for the self-clinging nature of Boston ivy. The post-attachment sequence is also believed to be critical in achieving maximum mechanical strength to provide extensive support. The developmental process of ADs is prompted by tactile stimulation but in a highly organized and systematic manner.

The corrosion behavior of super austenitic stainless steel was studied by examining the characteristics of the sigma phase formed in the steel. A range of experimental and analytical methods was employed, including potentiodynamic polarization tests, critical pitting temperature tests, transmission electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Three steel samples with different sigma phase levels were obtained by intentionally adjusting the manufacturing process. The results showed that the corrosion resistance of the samples was strongly dependent upon the size and distribution of the sigma phase precipitated in the samples. The larger the size of the sigma phase, the higher the Mo content in the sigma phase and the higher the depletion level of Mo at the interface between the matrix/sigma phase, the more samples with a coarse-sized sigma phase were susceptible to localized pitting corrosion at the interface. These results suggest that various manufacturing processes, such as welding and the post-heat treatment of the steel, should be optimized so that both the size and fraction of the sigma phase precipitated in the steel are small to improve the resistance to localized corrosion.
