  • Highly loaded LiCoO2 positive electrodes are prepared to construct high-energy density lithium-ion batteries, their electrochemical performances are evaluated. For the standard electrode, a loading of about 2.2 mAh/㎠ is used, and for a high-loading electrode, an electrode is manufactured with a loading level of about 4.4 mAh/㎠. The content of carbon black as electronic conducting additive, and the porosity of the electrode are configured differently to compare the effects of electron conduction and ionic conduction in the highly loaded LiCoO2 electrode. It is expected that the electrochemical performance is improved as the amount of the carbon black increases, but the specific capacity of the LiCoO2 electrode containing 7.5 weight% carbon black is rather reduced. When the conductive material is excessively provided, an increase of electrode thickness by the low content of the LiCoO2 active material in the same loading level of the electrode is predicted as a cause of polarization growth. When the electrode porosity increases, the path of ionic transport can be extended, but the electron conduction within the electrode is disadvantageous because the contact between the active material and the carbon black particles decreases. As the electrode porosity is lowered through the sufficient calendaring of the electrode, the electrochemical performance is improved because of the better contact between particles in the electrode and the reduced electrode thickness. In the electrode design for the high-loading, it is very important to construct the path of electron conduction as well as the ion transfer and to reduce the electrode thickness.

  • This paper investigates the success and failure factors of technology commercialization for SMEs developing public sector technologies. The 2014 Korea Technology Transfer Commercialization Status Report states that only 30% of the technologies that are transferred are being used and the rest are neglected. The objective of this paper is to determine the relationship between quantitative variables and the success rate of technology commercialization of 1,222 SMEs in Korea by using three analyzes (cross tabulation, process and logistic) methodologies to increase the success of public technology commercialization. The outcome shows that the number of successful technology deployment cases and the number of IPR registration cases have a positive impact on the success rate of public technology commercialization. The statistical outcome also verifies that unnecessary technology development, more attempts and failures of technology development, and longer lead time in the planning phase have a negative impact on the success rate of the public technology development and commercialization. For policy implications, the government should be selective in supporting public technology commercialization and development for SMEs as not all technology attempts exert positive effects.

  • The present study was carried out to examine the efficiency of cloning of transgenic embryos by nuclear transfer(NT) using gene-injected rabbit embryos. The rabbit embryos at pronuclear stage were microinjected with methallothionein-human growth hormone(MT-hGH) gene and cultured to 8- and 16-cell in TCM-199 containing 10% FCS with a monolayer of rabbit oviductal epithelial cells in a 5% $CO_2$incubator. The recipient oocytes were collected from the oviducts 14~16 h after hCG injection. The oocytes were enucleated and activated with 5$\mu$M ionomycin and 2mM 6-dimethylaminopurine. Blastomeres form gene-injected embryos were transferred into the enucleated oocytes by micromanipulation. The nuclear transplant oocytes were electrofused and co-cultured with rabbit oviductal cells. Following 120 h of culture, blastocysts were prepared for gene analysis by polymerase chain reaction(PCR). In previous experiment, the rate of gene-positive embryos detected by the nested PCR analysis was significantly decreased while developing to blastocyst(25%)(Kang et al., 1998). The fusion rate of gene-injected blastomeres was significantly(P<0.05) lower than non-injected blastomeres(66% vs 80%). However, the NT embryos that were derived from gene-injected donor embryos did not differ from control embryos in development to the blastocyst stage(39% vs 31%). Of the 43 NT blastocysts developed from the gene-injected donor embryos, twelve(28%) were positive for the injected DNA. The results indicate that NT with gene-injected embryos can be successfully used for cloning and multiplication of transgenic embryos, furthermore applicable to improvement of transgenic animal production.

  • Multinational corporations' overseas R&D activities bring host countries positive effects such as knowledge spillover, technology transfer, job creation and etc. For this reason, many countries have made efforts to attract foreign firms' R&D investment in their national territories. Korean government have also implemented some policy measures to expedite foreign firms operating in Korea to increase R&D activities. However, the firms' R&D investment in Korea has still been unsatisfactory, and only few studies have examined this issue. Therefore, this study attempts to explain the R&D investment of foreign firms operating in Kore, from the perspective Dunning's eclectic paradigm. Utilizing linear regression and Tobit model, this study analyzes the influence of OLI advantages on R&D intensity of foreign firms in Korea. The result shows that locational advantages of Korea (such as revealed technological advantage) had positive influences on foreign firms' R&D intensity. However, the influence of other OLI advantages were different by foreign firms' nationalities. For instance, internalization advantages had influences on R&D intensity, but the directions were different between Japanese and other nationalities. Based on the results, we provided some discussion and attempted to draw implications for Korean government's FDI and R&D policy.

  • In Sasang constitutional medicine, I have researched the process of visceral structure in the Eight Constitutionals under circulation of the five elements and the formation of primary source of illness. From this research, I could draw following conclusions through combination of the auxiliary psycho-formulas by applying the constitutional acupuncture therapy on the five elements diagnostic calculation. Since the arrangement for the five dimensions of organs in the eight constitutions has been formulated by circulation of the five elements in Sasang constitutions, if the five elements begin circulating count-clockwise from the reference point at the organs in Sasang constitutional medicine, the positive constitutional arrangement of organs is built up such as, the positive constitution of metal, earth, wood and water, while begin circulating clockwise, the negative constitutional arrangement of organs is formulated, such as the negative constitutions of metal, earth, wood and water. The source of illness results from imbalance of the organic force being generated by transfer of the five elements from compatibility to incompatibility when the five elements circulate. Hence, it has been acknowledged that if the source of illness comes from the strongest organ, it is the time when circulation of the five elements progresses from the second organ (the second strongest) in incompatibility, and if the source of illness comes from the weakest organ, it is the time when circulation of the five elements progresses from the third organ (the middle) in incompatibility. It is considered proper to diagnose meridians of the pericardium and the Triple Burners rather than to diagnose meridians of the heart and the small intestine which forms the visceral arrangement of the eight constitutions. For instance, the auxiliary psycho-formula obtains its prescription by attenuating the first organ (the strongest) while augmenting the fourth organ (the second weakest) when the axis of incompatibility in the five elements circulation crosses the second and the third organs, and it gets its prescription by attenuating the second organ(the second strongest) while augmenting the fifth organ(the weakest) when the axis of incompatibility in the five elements circulation crosses the third and the fourth organs. In addition, when medicating, the $4{\sim}5$ times of repeated performance can be assumed to represent the amount of an energy that each organ bears depending on the phase in the arrangement of the eight constitutional organs.

  • The algebra is an important tool influencing on a mathematics in general. To make good use of the algebra, it is necessary to transfer from a given situation to a proper algebraic representation. But some research in related to algebraic word problems have reported the difficulty changing to a proper algebraic representation. Our study have focused on transformation and elaboration of algebraic representation. We investigated in detail the responses and perceptions of 29 Grade 7 students while transforming to algebraic representation, only concentrating on the literature expression form the problematic situations given. Most of students showed difficulties in transforming both descriptive and geometric problems to algebraic representation. 10% of them responded wrong answers except only a problem. Four of them were interviewed individually to show their thinking and find the factor influencing on a positive elaboration. As results, we could find some characteristics of their thinking including the misconception that regard the problem finding a functional formula because there are the variables x and y in the problematic situation. In addition, we could find the their fixation which student have to set up the equation. Furthermore we could check that making student explain own algebraic representation was able to become the factor influencing on a positive elaboration. From these, we also discussed about several didactical implications.

  • Purpose - This study examines the effects of the influence strategies on sales representative and headquarter trust, and investigates how sales representative trust plays a mediating role in the relationship between influence strategies and headquarter trust. For these purposes, a structural model which consists of several constructs was developed. In this model, influence strategies that consist of relational influence strategies (information exchange, recommend, promise) and mandatory influence strategies (legal plea, request, threat) were proposed to affect the sales representative trust and in turn, increase the headquarter trust. Thus, this study proposed that sale representative trust plays a core mediating role in the relationship between relational and mandatory influence strategies and headquarter trust in B2B food materials distribution context. Research design, data, and methodology - For these purposes, the authors collected the data from 208 B2B specialized complex agents. We used the 2,200 B2B specialized complex agents which trade with CJ, Ottogi, and Daesang firms and supply food materials to restaurant, school cafeteria, supermarket and traditional market as a sample frame. Once we identified 330 B2B specialized complex agent owners, CEOs, and/or Directors who had agreed to participate in this study, we dropped off a questionnaire at each B2B specialized complex agent and explained the purpose of this study. The survey was conducted from October 1, 2015 to December 15, 2015. A total of 230 questionnaires were collected. Of these collected questionnaires, 28 questionnaires excluded since they had not been fully completed. The data were analyzed using frequency test, reliability test, measurement model analysis, and structural equation modeling with SPSS and SmartPLS 2. Results - First, information exchange, recommendation, and promise of relational influence strategies had positive effects on sales representative trust. The threat of mandatory influence strategies had a negative effect on sales representative trust, but legal plea and request did not have a significant effect on sales representative trust. Second, information exchange and recommendation of relational influence strategies had positive effects on headquarter trust, but promise did not. Also, legal plea, request, and threat of mandatory influence strategies did not have a significant effect on headquarter trust. Third, this findings show that sales representative trust plays a partial mediator between information exchange and headquarter trust, and threat and headquarter trust, and a full mediator between promise and headquarter trust, and recommendation and headquarter trust. Conclusions - The aim of this study was to examine the effects how diverse dimensions of relational and mandatory influence strategies relate to sales representative trust and headquarter trust. To do so, we integrated the influence strategies and the trust transfer theory to hypothesize that various influence strategies increase sales representative and headquarter trust. The findings of this study suggest that headquarter firms should establish and enforce proper influence strategies guidelines to make clear what proper actions sales representatives should implement in relationship with B2B specialized complex agents. Also, relational and mandatory influence strategies must be regarded as a long-term and ongoing strategy that eventually build a long-term orientation with B2B specialized complex agents and guarantee a company's sustainable growth and success.

  • The aim of this study was to test if 3,5,3'-triiodothyronine (T3) are involved in the osmoregulatory actions in euryhaline starry flounder Platichthys stellatus. We investigated osmoregulatory parameters ($Na^+,\;Cl^-$ and osmolality), blood cortisol and glucose in starry flounder acclimated to seawater (SW, 33 psu) and that were transferred and allowed to acclimate to freshwater (FW, 0 psu). Fish in SW were injected with T3 (5, 10, and $15{\mu}g$/g body weight) or vehicle (0.9% NaCl), and then transferred to FW. They were sampled 3 days after the transfer. With T3 at $10{\mu}g$/g, levels of plasma $Na^+$ and $Cl^-$ were significantly higher than in sham (only saline) and control fish (without hormone and saline). Osmolality was significantly higher after injection with T3 at 10 and $15{\mu}g$/g than in the control. However, T3 at $5{\mu}g$/g had no effect on hyper-osmoregulation. In this study, all dose of T3 induced a significant increases in plasma cortisol without glucose. These results suggest a positive hyper-osmoregulatory role of T3 in starry flounder to hypoosmotic environment, maybe a positive interaction of T3 with cortisol for maintenance of hyper-osmoregulatory ability.

  • Co-residence is a type of intergenerational private transfers of resources: money, time and space. Adult daughters and their elderly parents decide to co-reside, depending on their utility levels before and after co-residence that mainly depend on the health status of the elderly. Therefore, co-residence implies positive net benefits to both parties in the sense that, when they co-reside, elderly parents share childcare and adult daughter provide elderly care. In other words, formal (paid) care can be substituted with informal (unpaid) one. Both marriage and giving births are considered as the major obstacles to labor market attachment of women who bear burdens of home production and childcare. Co-residence can be a solution for married women to avoid career interruption by sharing burdens with their elderly parents. However, most previous studies using the U.S. data on intergenerational private transfers focused on elderly care and have concluded that they reduce government expenditures associated with public subsidies to the elderly. This study focuses on adult daughters and it examines effects of co-residence on labor supply of married women in Korea, who face limited formal childcare programs in terms of both quantity and quality. It applies the Tobit model of married women's labor supply to the data from the Second Wave of the Korean Labor and Income Panel Survey( 1999), in order to investigate effects of co-residence and the work and health status of the co-residing elderly as well as their own health status. Four specifications of the empirical model are tested that each includes co-residence with elderly parents, their gender, or their work and health status. Estimation results show that co-residence, co-residence with female elderly, and co-residence with not-working female elderly have significant positive effects on labor supply of married women while poor health status of co-residing female elderly does not bring about any negative effects. However, co-residence with male elderly, regardless of their work and health status, has no significant effect The results indicate that co-residence is closely related to sharing of home production among female elderly and adult daughters who are married and, through intergenerational private transfers of resources in terms of time, it helps women avoid career interruption.

  • Recently, most of the pile foundations have been applied as a method to transfer the heavy load of the structure to the ground with high bearing capacity. In this study, the pile-cap behavior between foundation and hollow-head precast reinforced concrete(HPC) pile reinforced with longitudinal rebar and filling concrete was experimentally evaluated depending on the cyclic load and reinforcement ratio. As the drift ratio increases, it was found that the cracks pattern and fracture behavior of two types of pile-cap specimens according to the reinforcement ratio were evaluated to be similar. As the reinforcement ratio increases by 1.77 times, the BS-H25 specimen increases the maximum load by 1.47 times compared to the BS-H19 specimen. However, the ductility ratio of positive and negative was decreased by 76% and 70% respectively. After the yielding of the pile-cap reinforcing rebars, the positive and negative stiffness of the all specimens were decreased by a range from 66% to 71% and a range from 54% to 57% respectively, and the average stiffness of BS-H25 specimen is 13% higher than that of BS-H19 specimen. The cumulative dissipated energy capacity of BS-H19 and BS-H25 specimen under ultimate load state is 5.5 times and 6.6 times higher than that of service load state.
