The paramedic students with clinical experience showed a positive attitude toward death, of whom 72.0% answered that a DNR order is necessary. The mean level of attitude toward DNR was 2.88. The paramedic students with clinical experience showed a positive attitude toward a DNR order. They indicated that sanctity of life should be respected rather than extending ineffective treatment and that patients' decisions on DNR should be respected. The students who had more knowledge about DNR and felt the necessity of DNR had a positive attitude about death and DNR. Conclusion: Paramedic students need systematic education for proper recognition and values establishment about death and DNR.

Methods: Methods: The participants included 474 fifth and sixth grade students. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficients, ANOVA and Tukey test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: Mean scores were for knowledge about cancer 6.03 out of a possible 1, attitude about cancer 2.23 out of a possible 5, attitudes about child with cancer 1.11 out of a possible 3, and empathy 3.18 out of a possible 5. There were significant differences in knowledge about cancer according to school grades and parents' interest in health management. Attitude about cancer showed significant differences according to harmony of family life, worries about cancer, school life, academic achievement, school parents' interest in health management and cancer education. Empathy showed significant differences according to school grades, gender, school life, harmony of family life, and parents' interest in health management. Attitudes about child with cancer showed significant differences according to school grades, school life, and parents' interest in health management. Knowledge about cancer and empathy showed a positive correlation with attitudes about child with cancer. Knowledge and attitude about cancer, and empathy showed a significant influence on attitudes about child with cancer. Conclusion: Results of this study indicate that development of an appropriate knowledge and attitudes about cancer, and empathy by late school-aged children should lead to the positive attitudes about child with cancer.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to carry out research on nurses regarding end of life decision and advance directives (ADs) and their attitude, experience and confidence towards them in order to define the role of nurses. Methods: In this research, questionnaire was distributed and data were collected and analyzed after receiving a written consent from 332 nurses. The survey was conducted from the $14^{th}$ to $30^{th}$ of September, 2009. The instrument used for conducting the study was revised version of KAESAD (The Knowledge, Attitudinal, Experiential Survey on Advance Directives). Results: We have come to a conclusion that nurses have positive attitude towards ADs. However, they hardly had any experience regarding them which leads to low confidence in assisting preparing ADs. Also, attitude towards ADs had no correlation with experience and confidence. Conclusion: In order to bring about the confidence level from positive attitude that nurses have, there needs to be a systematic change in nursing education. For that, it requires an education system that emphasizes the role of nurses which incorporates Korean culture and characteristics regarding death issue.
This study aimed to identify the integral factors influencing the attitudes of nursing students toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments. Methods: 139 nursing students were selected from the school of nursing of a single university. Questionnaires were used as measurement tools to measure their good death recognition, attitude towards death & towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment. The degree of good death recognition, attitude towards death & towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Correlation between variables was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and factors influencing the attitude towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment using multiple linear regression. Results: Attitude towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment was significantly positively correlated with good death recognition(r=.312, p=.000). As a result of multiple linear regression, good death recognition significantly influenced (β=.312, p=.000), accounting for 8.5% of the variance in attitude towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment. Conclusions: The results from this study can be contribute to develop educational programs to foster positive attitudes towards withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the relationship among health-related quality of life, smoking knowledge, smoking attitude, and smoking cessation intention in male smokers. Method: The subjects were 259 male smokers in J city. The data was collected using structured questionnaires from Nov. to Dec. of 2003. The data was analyzed by the SPSS (ver. 10.0)computer program, and it included descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and Stepwise Multiple Regression. Result: The smoking cessation intention had a significant positive correlation among health-related quality of life (r=.159), smoking knowledge (r=.161), and smoking attitude (r=.127). These variables account for $26.8\%$ of smoking cessation intention. Conclusion: These results suggested that the smoking cessation program to enhance the health-related quality of life, smoking knowledge, and smoking cessation intention and to increase a negative influence on smoking attitude need to be developed. Purpose: This study was a descriptive study to identify factors affecting the attitude toward life-sustaining treatment of nurses working at long-term care hospitals. Methods: Data were collected through structured questionnaires from August 2nd to 27th, 2019. Study participants consisted of 163 nurses who were working for at least 6 months from 7 long-term care hospitals in B and K city. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe' test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression with SPSS WIN v 21.0. Results: There were significantly positive correlations between awareness of good death (r=.46, p<.001) and perception of patients' rights (r=.32, p<.001). The factors affecting participants' attitude toward life-sustaining treatment were awareness of good death (β=.35, p<.001) and their own view of death (β=.24, p=.001), which explained about 27.0% of the attitude toward life-sustaining treatment. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is necessary to develop nursing educational materials that can establish values for deaths, and cultivate legal and ethical knowledge related to attitude toward life-sustaining treatment. In addition, since the severity of a patient's condition varies and the characteristics of the institution vary depending on the type of hospital, a study is needed on the relevance of variables considering the hospital environment.

The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA with Turkey tests, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple linear regression analyses using SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. Results: The existential spiritual well-being (β=.52, p<.001), attitude toward death (β=.24, p<.001), dual diagnosis (β=-.17, p=.003), occupation (β=.12, p=.035) of the participants were significant factors, which explained 63.7% of the variance of quality of life. Conclusion: The study findings highlight the need to develop psychological nursing strategies to enhance the spiritual well-being and improve a positive attitude toward death based on the job and dual diagnosis among AA members to improve their better quality of life.
Although the life-sustaining treatment decision law is in effect, health care worker have many difficulties in determining life-sustaining treatment. Therefore, the relationship between the awareness of well-dying(WD), the attitude toward withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment(AWLST), and the attitude toward euthanasia(AE) for nursing students who will take care of dying patients in the future will be analyzed and used as basic data for bioethics classes. The study period was from April 1 to May 6, 2018, and a survey was conducted on 288 nursing students in D City. As a result of the study, WD was found to have positive (+) correlations with AWLST and AE, while AWLST was positive (+) with active and passive euthanasia. As nurses are expected to experience many ethical conflicts in the life-sustaining treatment process, it is necessary to receive education related to well-dying awareness, bioethics education, and life-sustaining treatment during the nursing student period.
