This study aims at advancing waterfront of Pusan Port and attempting to establish an identity through studying characteristics of place in Pusan Port. The place is consisted of two elements ; orientation and identity, which is expressed clearly the environmental totality including the character and space. The urban waterfront is also one of the place pattern, and that is consist of land area, water area, and transit zone combining two areas. Although there are a lot of primary factors to be able to make the most of the character and identity in Pusan port, badly planned development prevents the plan promoting the sense of place in urban waterfront. The point in the waterfront development plan of Pusan Port is how to secure aminities based on Identity and Orientation; node, landmark, edge, path, district. The result of this study is for planners to develop more and systematic approaches which could utilize waterfront.

A lot of city have different characteristics in their location, space and environment each other. These characters are the factors showing inherent placeness of each space, and those factors should be reflected sufficiently in urban planning and development. Nonetheless, there are many parts that are not actually reflected in the plan, and this creates a space of unexpected arming. Especially, port area in a port city has strong characteristics of culture, history, geography and environment of the city concerned so it must make more creative and unique space. Therefore, it is considered that not only the physical factors but also the social factors should be actively reflected to highlight the place character of the port space. In this paper we are to construct the factors forming the placeness of port space based on the Form Based Codes rising as a flexible urban planning method in order to avoid rigidity of existing use district zoning system, and establish the placeness character of each port area.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a knowledge-based real-time decision support system to support decision makers for efficient berth operation of Inchon Port. In these days the berth operation problems have been many studied. The berth operation rules differ from port to port and the problem is highly dependent on natural geographical and operational environment of port. In Inchon Port the ship’s entrance into port and departure from port is extremely affected status of dock. In this paper we analyzed some effects of dock a specific character of Inchon Port with a real data of ship’s in Inchon Port. And reconstruct a previous expert’s knowledge of berth allocating problem in Inchon Port. Also the mechanism for the efficient berth operation has been studied by repeatedly dispatching in order to obtain a best effect of berth allocation, with real-time updated information for delay at service time of a specific berth and changing of a working-berth. The system is developed with graphic user interface(GUI) concept using user interactive approach. And this system will be provide decision support maker with an efficient and fast way to berth allocating and reduce wastes of time space and manpower in Inchon Port operation.

Automatic recognition of container identifier is one of key factor to implement port automation and increase distribution throughput. In this paper, I propose a method of container identifier recognition on various input images using color based edge detection and character verification algorithm, I tested the proposed method on 350 container images and it showed good results.

For evaluation of maritime power, the attributes of sea power are identified in this paper by system analysis method. A many fundmental factors of sea power are selected by survey of the extensive and thorough literatures on maritime power. And the factors are classified into 11 standard attributes by cluster method. The 11 standard attributes are as follows: geographical condition, character of territory, character of the people, maritime will of the government, shipping power, navel power, shipbuilding power, fishing power, ocean research and development, dependence on seaborne trade, number of ocean population. As the sub-attributes of the standard attributes, 37 composite factors and some basic factors are defined through careful survey and discussion with some experts. As the result of this study, the maritime power is systematically identified as maritime power system. And it is realized that the evalution of maritime power system is the hybrid MADM problem with both quantitative and qualitative factors.

The 'One Belt One Road (OBOR)' initiative, which was promulgated as part of the enlargement policy along with the advent of Xi Jinping in 2013, is a policy to expand China's political and economic power externally through linkages with neighboring countries. China's overseas port investment plays an important role in the promotion of the 'OBOR' policy from the coast of China through maritime transportation routes from S.E Asia to Mediterranean and Europe. Since China's overseas port investment has been made from several factors such as political, economic, and military motives, it differs in purpose and character from investments made by private companies, such as Global Port Operators(GTO) which consider profitability first. This study aims to address future prospects and implications by analyzing the geopolitics of China's overseas port investment under the 'One Belt One Road' initiative. According to the results, China's overseas port investment is dominated by state-owned enterprises and political and security factors are more important than profitability. China's overseas port investment has been on a large scale in a short period of time, and China has faced with various problems both domestically and internationally. such as debt default, environmental problems, subordination problems from recipient countries and political and military confrontation with great countries such as United States, Japan and India etc.

In this article, 1'd like to analyse the principal distinctions between the duty of disclosure and warranty which are based on the same legal principles, utmost good faith(uberrima fides). Although the duty of disclosure and warranty have a same legal principle to protect insurance contract, they have several difference in appliance actually. Through these comparative analysis, 1 want to reveal the character of warranty which is unfamiliar to us under our commercial law. Warranty has some peculiarity, these are (a)A warranty does not have to be material to the risk, (b)A warranty must be exactly complied with, (c)It is impossible to defence for a breach of warranty, the breach of warranty is irremediable, and A casual connection between breach and loss needs not be shone, (d)A breach of a warranty may be waived by insurer. Sometimes in Korea like those stringent principles of warranty make Korean's small fishing or shipping company suffer from difficult because of insistence of discharge from liability by insurer. So I expect that all of them acknowledge the character of warranty and can make them protect their insurance money by themselves.
