배수성 아스팔트콘크리트 혼합물의 반복 동결융해 저항성 평가 (An Evaluation of Resistances in Porous Asphalt Concrete Mixtures due to Repeated Cyclic Freeze-Thawing)

  • 겨울철의 영하의 날씨와 잦은 눈으로 인해 도로 포장의 파손이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 도로 포장의 동결융해 메커니즘을 살펴보고, 다양한 평가 방법을 통해 배수성 아스팔트 포장의 동결융해 저항성을 평가하였다. 동결융해 저항성의 평가방법은 강성 포장과 연성 포장이 각각의 특성에 따라 다양한 평가 방법을 사용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 변형률의 측정, 수정 로트만 실험, 반복 동결융해 실험, 표면 박리 저항성 실험과 같은 강성 포장과 연성 포장의 대표적인 동결융해 저항성 실험을 적용하여 평가를 실시하였다. 연구결과 배수성 아스팔트 콘크리트는 20%의 공극으로 인해 밀입도 아스팔트 콘크리트에 비해 온도에 따른 변형이 작은 것으로 평가되었다. 또한, 수분의 영향을 받는 동결융해 반복 실험에서도 수분의 원활한 배수와 수분의 동결 시 발생하는 팽창압을 분산시킬 수 있는 충분한 공극으로 인해 다른 종류의 아스팔트 혼합물에 비하여 동결 융해 저항성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

아스팔트순환골재를 이용한 투수성 콘크리트의 역학적 특성 (The Mechanical Properties of Porous Concrete using Recycled Asphalt Aggregate)

  • 본 연구에서는 아스팔트순환골재를 이용한 투수성 콘크리트의 역학적 특성을 알아보기 위하여 투수성 콘크리트의 단위시멘트량, 잔골재 비율, 물시멘트(w/c)비의 혼합율 변화에 따른 역학적 특성과 구조체로서 요구되는 소요강도에 대하여 분석하고자 하였다. 순환골재의 사용성을 높이기 위하여 입도조정 없이 13mm 아스팔트순환골재를 사용하였으며, 물시멘트비는 빈배합이 되도록 결정하였다. 분석결과 압축강도는 18.2~19.5Mpa을 보였으며 투수계수는 평균적으로 8.0E-02cm/sec 값을 나타내었다.

단순회귀분석에 의한 배수성 아스팔트의 투수계수 산정모델 제안 (Proposal for the Estimation of the Hydraulic Conductivity of Porous Asphalt Concrete Pavement using Regression Analysis)

  • PURPOSES : This study is to construct the regression models of drainage asphalt concrete specimens and to provide the appropriate coefficients of hydraulic conductivity prediction models. METHODS: In terms of easy calculation of the hydraulic conductivity from porosity of asphalt concrete pavement, the estimation model of hydraulic conductivity was proposed using regression analysis. 10 specimens of drainage asphalt concrete pavement were made for measurement of the hydraulic conductivity. Hydraulic conductivity model proposed in this study was calculated by empirical model based on porosity and the grain size. In this study, it shows the compared results from permeability measured test and empirical equation, and the suitability of proposed model, using regression analysis. RESULTS: As the result of the regression analysis, the hydraulic conductivity calculated from the proposal model was similar to that resulted from permeability measured test. Also result of RMSE (Root Mean Square Error) analysis, a proposed regression model is resulted in more accurate model. CONCLUSIONS: The proposed model can be used in case of estimating the hydraulic conductivity at drainage asphalt concrete pavements in fields.

포장노면 미끄럼 저항특성 (Skid Resistance Characteristics of Pavement Surface)

  • PURPOSES : Skid resistance on pavements plays an important role in reducing the risk of vehicle skidding on wet surface particularly. Almost 9.3 percent of traffic accidents were occurred under rainy condition and these are over-represented in terms of the severity of the crashes. Recently, unusual weather conditions referred widely as the intensified rainfalls justify the need of a systematic management of skid resistance. In this context, the study carried out the observational study on the skid resistance characteristics of different types of pavement with the time passage. METHODS : This study measured the skid resistance with Pavement Friction Tester at three times within five years. The skid resistance measurement has followed the method suggested by ASTM. RESULTS : As the main results under the scope of this study, skid resistance of asphalt concrete has not nearly reduced with time. On the contrary, skid resistance of cement concrete has been rapidly reduced with time though the highest resistance was gained at the early observation. Porous asphalt concrete shows a steady decrease of skid resistance with time, anyway, the reduction rate according to the increase of measurement speeds is relatively lower than the others. CONCLUSIONS : Based on our study, skid resistance of the pavement should be regarded as one of the pavement management system, so periodic measurement should be made to assure road safety as a whole.

  • Pavements porous concrete is a noble structure design in the urban management development generally enabling water to be permeated within its structure. It has also capable in the same time to cater dynamic loading. During the technology development, the quality and quantity of waste materials have led to a waste disposal crisis. Using recycled materials (secondary) instead of virgin ones (primary) have reduced landfill pressure and extraction demanding. This study has reviewed the waste materials (Recycled crushed glass (RCG), Steel slag, Steel fiber, Tires, Plastics, Recycled asphalt) used in the pavement porous concretes and report their respective mechanical, durability and permeability functions. Waste material usage in the partial cement replacement will cause the concrete production cost to be reduced; also, the concretes' mechanical features have slightly affected to eliminate the disposal waste materials defects and to use cement in Portland cement (PC) production. While the cement has been replaced by different industrial wastes, the compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength and different PC permeability mixes have depended on the waste materials' type applied in PC production.

고속축중기 시스템의 도입을 위한 고기능 아스팔트 혼합물 및 에폭시의 내구성 평가 (Evaluating Rutting Performance of High-Durability Asphalt Concrete Mixtures and Epoxy Used for Installation of High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion System)

  • PURPOSES : In order to apply high-speed weigh-in-motion (HS WIM) systems to asphalt pavement, three high-durability asphalt concrete mixtures installed with a WIM epoxy are evaluated. METHODS : In this study, dynamic stability, number of loading repetitions to reach the rut depth of 1 mm, and rut depth measurements of three asphalt mixtures at $60^{\circ}C$ were compared using an Asphalt Pavement Analyzer (APA). Laboratory-fabricated material and field core samples were prepared and tested according to KS F2374. RESULTS : Through the laboratory tests, it was found that all three modified asphalt mixtures (stone-mastic, porous, and semi-rigid) with WIM epoxy showed favorable permanent deformation results and passed the dynamic stability criterion of 3000 loading repetitions per 1 mm. In addition, it was confirmed that the modified SMA mixtures cored from the field construction yields satisfactory rutting testing results using the APA. Finally, the epoxy used for the HS WIM installation shows good adhesion with the three asphalt mixtures and permanent deformation resistance.

아크릴 수지로 코팅한 배수성 아스팔트 콘크리트의 특성 평가 (Characterization of Porous Asphalt Concrete Coated with MMA Resin)

  • 본 연구는 배수성 아스팔트 포장의 표면을 아크릴 수지로 코팅 처리할 경우 내구성 측면 및 기능적 측면에서 어떠한 효과가 있는가를 실내시험을 통해 평가하는 기초적인 연구이다. 포장의 내구성 측면에서는 칸타브로 및 휠트래킹, 수분손상 간접 인장 피로 시험 등을 실시하였다. 시험결과 시편을 수지로 코팅을 한 경우 칸타브로 손실률이 3배 정도 감소되었고 균열에 대한 저항성도 대폭 향상되었으나 수분손상 및 소성변형의 저항성은 큰 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 기능적인 측면에서는 코팅 전 후의 투수계수 및 공극률 BPT(British Pendulum Tester)를 사용한 미끄럼 저항성의 변화를 측정하였다. 시험결과 공극률 및 투수계수는 약간 저하되나 기능상의 문제는 없을 것으로 판단되며, 미끄럼 저항성은 규사를 살포하지 않을 경우 미끄럼 저항성이 감소되나 규사를 살포할 경우 코팅 전 수준 이상의 미끄럼 저항성을 확보하는 것으로 나타났다.

폴리프로필렌섬유를 혼입한 포장용 투수성 폴리머 콘크리트의 공학적 성질 (Engineering Properties of Permeable Polymer Concrete for Pavement Using Polypropylene Fiber)

  • Research on permeable pavement like asphalt and concrete pavement with porous structure has been increasing due to environmental and functional need such as reduction of run off and flood. This study was performed to evaluate void ratio, permeability coefficient, and compressive strength of permeable polymer concrete (PPC) using crushed and recycled coarse aggregate that is obtained from waste concrete. Also, 6 mm length of polypropylene fiber was used to increase toughness and interlocking between aggregate and aggregate surrounded by binder. Binder and filler used were unsaturated polyester resin and CaCO3, respectively. The mix proportions were determined to satisfy the requirement for the workability and slump according to aggregate sizes 5~10 mm. In the test results, regardless of kinds of aggregates and fiber contents, the void ratio, permeability coefficient and compressive strength of all types of PPC showed the higher than the criterion of porous concrete that is used in permeable pavement in Korea. Also, strengths of PPC with increase polypropylene fiber volume fraction showed slightly increased tendency due to increase binder with increase of fiber volume fraction. Accordingly, polypropylene fiber and recycled coarse aggregate can be used for permeable pavement.

This study was performed to evaluate permeability, strengths and durability of permeable polymer concrete (PPC) using recycled aggregate that is obtained from waste concrete. Also, 6mm length of polypropylene fiber was used to increase toughness and interlocking between aggregate and aggregate surrounded by binder. In the test results, regardless of kinds of aggregates and fiber contents, the compressive strength and permeability coefficient of all types of PPC showed the higher than the criterion of porous concrete that is used in permeable pavement in Korea. Also, strengths of PPC with increase polypropylene fiber volume fraction showed slightly increased tendency due to increase binder with increase of fiber volume fraction. The weight reduction ratios for PPC after 300 cycles of freezing and thawing were in the range of 1.6~3.8 % and 2.2~5.6 %, respectively. The weight change ratio was very low regardless of the fiber volume fraction and aggregates. The weight reduction ratios of PPC with fiber and aggregate were in the range of 1.3~2.7 % and 2.2~3.2 % after 13 weeks and was very low regardless of the fiber volume fraction and aggregates.

아스팔트 저소음 포장의 개발 및 공용성 평가 (Noise reduction of Asphalt Concrete Pavement : Techniques and their performance evaluation)

  • 배수성 포장의 장점은 우천시 운전자에게 노면의 배수 기능과 타이어 노면의 마찰저항성과 같은 효과를 증대 시켜 일반 밀입도 아스팔트 혼합물에 비해 타이어 노면 소음을 감소시키는 효과를 제공 해준다. 그러나, 배수성 포장은 공용 후 노면의 공극 막힘 현상 등으로 인하여 주기적인 유지보수 작업이 동반된다. 그러므로 본 연구를 통해 개발된 저소음포장의 공극 형성은 굵은골재의 비율을 높여 공극형성을 직선화하여 투수 및 공극막힘 등을 최소화 하도록 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 개발된 저소음포장인 19mm, 13mm, 10mm, 8mm 저소음포장은 현재 4년이 공용된 상태에서 양호한 포장상태를 보여주며, 특수성능은 신설수준인 투수성능을 유지하고 있으며, 미끄럼 저항성도 만족하는 우수한 공용성을 나타내고 있다.
