  • This paper presents the result of survey and analysis on a theoretical approach to the application of incomplete information game in deregulated Power Pools. The deregulation power market arc modeled by the incomplete information game. The case where participants have incomplete information about the operation costs of other participants are highlighted. Pool participants define transactions to maximize their benefit in non-cooperative situation, the ISO defines transactions among participants by looking for minimum price that satisfies the demand in the Pool. The incomplete information game determines Nash equilibrium satisfied Pool participants and the ISO.

  • A transient two-dimensional (2D) model was developed for investigating the heat and fluid flow in old pools and determining velocity profile and temperature distribution for the Gas Metal Arc (GMA) welding process. The mathematical formulation deals with the driving farces (electromagnetic, buoyancy, surface tension and plasma drag forces) as well as energy exchange between the molten filler metal droplet and weld pools. A general thermofluid-mechanics computer program, PHOENICS, was employed to numerically solve the governing equation with the associated source terms. The results of computation have shown that the electromagnetic and surface tension farces as will as the molten filler metal droplet have major influence in shaping the weld pool geometry.

  • LEACHN is the computer simulation model which can be used to simulate field-scale N transformations and movement and has three organic pools (plant residue, manure, and soil humus), three inorganic pools (urea, nitrate and ammonium) and plant. Pot experiment operated May to October in 2004. LEACHN simulated the nitrogen movement and transformation in soil using method of PEST and trial and error.

  • BACKGROUND: Application of the transfer functions derived from local soil data is necessary in order to develop proper management protocols for agricultural soils contaminated with heavy metals through phytoavailability control of the heavy metals. The aim of this study was to derive the transfer functions of Korean agricultural soils affected by the abandoned mining sites and evaluate suitability of the derived transfer functions. METHODS AND RESULTS: 142 agricultural soils affected by the abandoned mining sites were collected and analyzed. Two extraction methods, including 1 M $NH_4NO_3$ extraction and 0.01 M $Ca(NO_3)_2$ extraction were applied to determine phytoavailable metal pools in soils. Multiple stepwise regression of phytoavailable metal pools against the corresponding total metal concentration and soil properties was conducted to derive suitable transfer functions for estimating phytoavailable heavy metal pools. Applicability of the derived transfer functions was examined by calculating NME and NRMSE. CONCLUSION: Soil pH and organic matter were valid variables for derivation of the transfer functions which were applicable for estimating phytoavailable metal concentrations in the soils being contaminated by heavy metals. In addition, it was confirmed that transfer functions need to be developed based on local soil conditions to accurately estimate heavy metal-phytoavailability.

  • Nonaqueous phase liquids(NAPL) not readily dissolved in water exist as a separate fluid phase. Groundwater contamination by NAPL such as organic solvents and petroleum hydrocarbons becomes major public concerns because of their long-term persistence in the subsurFace and their ability to contaminate large volumes of wate. Dense.-than-water NAPL(DNAPL) spilled into the subsurface penetrate through the saturated zone and ultimately form DNAPL pools on the bottom of the aquifer. The dissolution of DNAPL from these pools depends on the molecular diffusion coefficient, the vertical dispersivity, the groundwater velocity, the solubility, and the pool length. In this study, the vertical transverse dispersion coefficients for simulating the dissolution of DNAPL from such pools were obtained from the dissolution experiment. Under the experimental conditions used, the vertical transverse dispersion coefficients calculated were 1.86$cm^2$/day, 2.90$cm^2$/day and 4.51$cm^2$/4ay for seepage velocities of 59.2cm/day, 94.3cm/day and 158.0cm/day, respectively. And the vertical transverse dispersivity was 0.03024cm.

  • As people's interest in the increase of individual leisure time and health grows, their interest in sports is also growing day by day to improve their standards of living. In the midst of the social changes, people's awareness of the disabled's sports activities is changing as well. However, the disabled's full access to public sports centers is restricted due to the shortage of facilities, area and available programs in public sports centers including community gymnasiums. In order to solve this problem, rehabilitation sports centers have been built as part of public sports centers, but the number of rehabilitation sports centers is still small. Besides, the disabled find themselves uncomfortable when using rehabilitation sports centers because most of them are outdated and too small in size. To make matters worse, sports centers for the use of the disabled only have a negative effect on the disabled's making inroads into society by hampering them from being a part of social unification. This study made a comparative analysis on the areal state of indoor gyms and swimming pools, which are the main areal factors of rehabilitation sports centers and public sports centers. Based on this analysis, this study aims to propose a sports center use plan for both the disabled and non-disabled. As a result, the total floor area ratios of indoor gyms for the disabled were found to be higher than those of public sports centers. This is because many indoor gyms for the disabled are not well equipped with resting areas, auxiliary or supporting areas. Regarding swimming pools for the disabled, their total floor area ratios and areas were found to be lower than those of public sports centers because, in many cases, these swimming pools are used for the rehabilitation of the disabled in rehabilitation sports centers. For this reason, swimming area for individual leisure activity or hobby is insufficient.

  • This study was to investigate the habitat conditions and growth of right eye flounder (Kareius bicoloratus) in the Saemangeum Reseorvoir during 1995$\sim$2007. The planktonic larvae of K. bicoloratus appeared in early March, and then the juveniles started the benthic life in the tide-pools inside the reservoir, being 1.5$\sim$2.5cm in total length in early April and 6.0$\sim$7.2cm in mid-July. This species was not collected in the tide-pools after July, indicating that the juveniles began to move to outer seas for growing. When the tide barrier of Saemangeum was constructed, the juveniles of K. bicoloratus decreased as the tidal pools were covered continuously, then they could not be collected after 2005. Thus, it is concluded that the environmental change has taken important influence on distribution and spawning of K. bicoloratus since the reservoir was constructed.
