  • This paper presents an application to a multimachine power system of power system stabilizer using revised pole shift adaptive algorithm. Controller parameters are determined by using adaptive control theory in order to maintain optimal operation of generator under the various operating conditions. To determine the optimal parameters of controller and overcome the problem of pole placement algorithm, this paper presents pole shift algorithm revised pole shift factor. Also, the difference between the speed deviation with weighted factor and voltage deviation is used as the input signal of adaptive controller, which provides good damping characteristics. The results tested on a multimachine power system verify that the proposed controller has better dynamic and transient performance than conventional controller.

  • We present our estimate of pole shift caused by the recent 31 largest earthquakes of magnitude over 8.0. After reviewing theory of perturbation in the Earth's rotation, each co-seismic as well as post-seismic pole shifts by the earthquakes are acquired and illustrated. A total co-seismic excitation due to these earthquakes is ($x_1$, $x_2$)=(-3.35, 5.89) milliarcsec, which increased about twice the initial estimation when the post-seismic deformation is considered. The single largest co-seismic excitation by 2011 Japan earthquake was ($x_1$, $x_2$)=(-2.06, 2.36) milliarcsec, which corresponds to 9.7 cm pole shift on the surface of the Earth.

  • In this paper, using the direct drive arm for plant, the controller is developed to track the desired trajectory in high speed and precision. For the purpose of this, through extending self-tuning pole-placement algorithm, we developed self-tuning pole-shift algorithm which is fast in response and good tracking for the reference tracking change. Developed controller is applied a three-link direct drive arm with the varing payload to track the desired tracking. And, through the computer simulation, the performance of developed controller is compared with the performance of the computed torque method and the self-tuning pole placement algorith.

  • In the pole assignment strategy, the closed loop poles are placed at prespecified locations. The amount of control effort required is to some extent proportional to the distance of the proposed closed loop locations of the poles from their open loop locations. The poor choice of closed loop locations may result in Large control effort and it may nuke the system unstable. To overcome this problem, pole shift control strategy is described in this paper. The validity of the proposed control strategy is assured through some simulations.

  • In this paper, new micromachined tunble bandpass filters for multi-band millimeter-wave telecommunication systems are proposed. Two types of mm-wave tunable filters are fabricated using micromachning technology and the responses of the filters are measured. One is two-pole lumped elements filter and the other two-pole resonators filter. Frequency tunability of the filter is achieved by changing the gap between a common CPW ground plate and the movable cantilever beam connected to the transmission line with the controllable renge of 2.5${\mu}m$. The deflection of cantilever beam is measured with the applied DC voltage. With the applied bias voltage from 0 to 50 V, the fabricated filters show 0.6 GHz(2.3%) at 26.6 GHz, and 0.8 GHz(2.5%) at 32 GHz center frequency shift for the lumped elements and resonators filter, respectively. The life time of the fabricated gold cantilever structure are tested.

  • We have proposed the methods how to control the slope of CMOS inverter's characteristic and how to shift it in y axis. We control the MOS transistor threshold voltage for these methods. By observing that two transistors are in saturation region at the center of the CMOS inverter's characteristic, we have presented how to make the characteristic for one pole neuron. The circuit level simulation is used for verifying the proposed method. PSpice(OrCAD Co.) is used for circuit level simulation.
