  • The purpose of this survey study is to analyse the playground dimension of elementary school. To complete this mission, it is necessary to drive out elementary school have a lower dimension standard of playground through literal survey. Then, questionnaire and observation survey have been performed to teachers majored in physical education and these are focused on playground dimensions. The field survey study will provide the basic data for calculating proper playground dimensions and design source for planning space program of the school. The result of this survey study are as follows ; First, The Area of 'Gyo-ghi' is decreasing, and the land area of being used for 'Gyo-sa' is increasing. So the area of playground is decreasing. Second, The respondents require a playground size enough to contain 100m running track for testing the physical ability of students. But it is not possible to do so in current domestic condition, it is necessary to revise of the standard of physical test or enact a new one. Third, to solve the problems deviating from the playground size, the respondent suggests that set up a new gym or variable-size playgrounds rather than a large one Fourth, because playground has so much functions as rest, playing, walking and jogging etc besides physical education, it is necessary to consider the spaces for rest and play, when plan a tower-type school or small school.

  • In Korea, playgrounds have been developed quantitatively and qualitatively. However, there is a lack of interest in the play needs of children with disabilities. With this in mind, this study is concerned about the planning and design process of the inclusive playground constructed in 2016 at Seoul Children's Grand Park. The case study covered the Kkumtle Kkumtle playground in Seoul Children's Grand Park and was completed in December 2015. This playground is the first case of an inclusive playground ever built in Korea. The concept of the inclusive playground established in this study is: (1) a playground where not only children with disabilities but both children with disabilities and children without disabilities can play together; (2) a playground for both children with disabilities accompanied by their families and children without disabilities accompanied by family members with disabilities; (3) a playground that ensures universal accessibility to the entire space including play facilities; and (4) a playground where the most essential functions of a playground-fun, curiosity, and adventure-are centered on various activities. In conclusion, we presented limitations and opinions for improvements to design and policy proposals for social expansion of inclusive playgrounds. There are three ways to overcome limitations in design. First, there is a need for an in-depth study of play characteristics by type of disabilities of children. Second, it is necessary to develop facilities suitable for the actual situation of Korea through various social experiments. Third, if the inclusive playground centered on facilities is presented in this study, then several types of integrated playgrounds should be implemented in the future.

  • Color is an important subject of interest for cognitive developmental stages of children and it also correlate to emotional and physical development. Children can acquire concept of color by 'play'. Color play can be experienced to children through diversity activity and theses activities contain creative craft art activity. The color-paly with art activity for kids can be called 'kids color-design play'. Recently, indoor playgrounds are rapidly grow-up because parent's concern degree that about play activity get higher. The indoor playground being enlargement and it contains various paly contents. Color-design play is also enacted animatedly in kids indoor playground. The great part of color-design plays are enacted through program that needs teaching. On the other hand, color-design play facility that children can play spontaneously is not composed sufficiently. Therefore this study aim at design proposal of 'Kids color-design playground apparatus' in indoor playground.

  • As an apartment house as well as improving quality of life is becoming one of the brands, it is increasing the importance of the outer space with the facilities in the housing complex. In particular, the outdoor playground such as the community facilities that children and adults share as the activity areas for residents has received attention. However, actually children have not used many of Korean apartment housing playgrounds that were installed formally in the scrap area according to the housing plan by residential construction standards. it is considered necessary to improve the quality of the playground in housing complex and reform it in order to make the eco-friendly play space in which children can play safely and h healthily. As an alternative, we analyzed the eco-friendly properties of the playgrounds installed in the eco-friendly housing complex in Germany and derived the main planning elements of eco-friendly playground. In the observational survey of the 10 playgrounds in 9 housing complexes in 5 regions in Germany, we evaluated the environment-friendliness of these playgrounds in the 8 fields(location and placement, ecological environment, play space, play equipment and facilities, additional facilities, materials and resources, energy saving, environmental load reduction) according to the levels(suitable, partial reflection, unsuitable, non-reflection) of reflection of eco-friendly planning factors. The following is the summary of the results about the reflection of eco-friendly planning factors. In terms of "suitable": location and placement(88.8%), play equipment and facilities(73.5%), additional facilities(60.6%), environmental load reduction(54%), and ecological environment(50%) were higher than others. In terms of "unsuitable": there was nothing. In terms of "non-reflection": energy saving(95%), additional facilities(32.2%), and materials and resources(30.9%) were in order. Therefore, on the basis of these results, this study proposed the planning indicators to be considered first and the planning factors that should be complemented and improved in the construction of apartment housing playground in future.

  • The content of hazardous heavy metal of materials used in playground facility for children was investigated using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analyses, In order to examine the content of hazardous heavy metals according to the material color, four colors, i.e., green, red, yellow and blue, were categorized on the materials used. The highest lead content is observed in the yellow plastic samples. The yellow samples with relatively high lead content show that the chrome content is also high. This can explained that lead chromate, so-called chromium yellow, is normally used as a main pigment to express the yellow color. Therefore, it is concluded that hazardous heavy metal detected in the materials of playground facility for children is due to the pigments used for coloring. Based on above findings, the relationship between the color of materials used in playground facility for children and the content of hazardous heavy metal is discussed.

  • Augmented Reality (AR) is a useful technology for various industrial systems. This paper suggests a new playground system which uses markerless AR technology. We developed a virtual playground system that can learn physics and kinematics from the physical play of people. The virtual playground is a space in which real scenes and CG are mixed. As for the CG objects, physics of the real world is used. This is realized by a physics engine. Therefore it is necessary to analyze information from cameras, so that CG reflects the real world. Various games options are possible using real world images and physics simulation in the virtual playground. We think that the system is effective for education. Because CG behaves according to physics simulation, users can learn physics and kinematics from the system. We think that the system can take its place in the field of education through entertainment.
