딥러닝과 의미론적 영상분할을 이용한 자동차 번호판의 숫자 및 문자영역 검출 (Detection of Number and Character Area of License Plate Using Deep Learning and Semantic Image Segmentation)

  • 자동차 번호판 인식은 지능형 교통시스템에서 핵심적인 역할을 담당한다. 따라서 효율적으로 자동차 번호판의 숫자 및 문자영역을 검출하는 것은 매우 중요한 과정이다. 본 연구에서는 딥러닝과 의미론적 영상분할 알고리즘을 적용하여 효과적으로 자동차 번호판의 번호영역을 검출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 화소 투영과 같은 전처리과정 없이 번호판 영상에서 바로 숫자 및 문자영역을 검출하는 알고리즘이다. 번호판 영상은 도로 위에 설치된 고정 카메라로 부터 획득한 영상으로 날씨 및 조명변화 등을 모두 포함한 다양한 실제 상황에서 촬영된 것을 사용하였다. 입력 영상은 색상변화를 줄이기 위해 정규화하고 실험에 사용된 딥러닝 신경망 모델은 Vgg16, Vgg19, ResNet18 및 ResNet50이다. 제안방법의 성능을 검토하기 위해 번호판 영상 500장으로 실험하였다. 학습을 위해 300장을 할당하였으며 테스트용으로 200장을 사용하였다. 컴퓨터모의 실험결과 ResNet50을 사용할 때 가장 우수하였으며 95.77% 정확도를 얻었다.

A Numerical Study on Performance of Air-to-Air Plastic Plate Heat Exchanger

  • The purpose of this research is to develop high efficiency plastic plate heat exchangers which can be substituted for conventional aluminum plate heat exchangers. Four simulation models of plastic plate heat exchangers are designed and simulated: that is, flat plate type, turbulent promoter type, corrugate type and dimple type heat exchanger. The flat plate type is designed as the reference model in order to evaluate how much thermal performance increases. The turbulent promoter type is fabricated with cylindrical-type vortex generators and rib-type turbulent promoters. The corrugate type is obtained from the conventional stainless steel compact heat exchangers, which are called the herringbone-type compact heat exchangers. The dimple type has a number of dimples on its surface. In this study, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of the plastic plate heat exchanger are investigated using numerical simulation and compared with experimental results. Numerical simulation is carried out using the FLUENT code. The flows are assumed as a three-dimensional, incompressible and turbulent model. The computational analysis and experimental results both show that the friction coefficient and Nu number is highest in the corrugate type. The tendency of numerical simulation results is in good agreement with that of the experimental results.

에지 기반 영역확장 기법을 이용한 다양한 크기의 번호판 검출 (Detection of Various Sized Car Number Plates using Edge-based Region Growing)

  • 기존의 번호판 검출 기법들은 대부분 일정한 거리와 방향에서 촬영되어 번호판의 크기가 유사하고, 배경이 단순한 차량 전면 영상에 적용되는 한계를 가지고 있어서 번호판의 위치가 변하거나 조명 혹은 크기의 변화에 매우 취약하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 기존 기법들의 문제점들을 극복하기 위하여 에지기반 영역확장 기법을 사용하는 번호판 검출기법을 제안한다. 1단계에서는 입력영상에서 예지영상을 얻고 번호판의 기하학적 특성을 갖는 에지 영역들을 검출하여 이들을 번호판 검색영역으로 정한다. 검색영역의 에지들을 기반으로 주변의 화소들을 색상을 기반으로 영역확장을 통해 분할하여 번호판의 기하학적 특성을 만족하는 영역들을 번호판 후보영역으로 정한다. 후보영역들은 자동차의 조명등과 같은 구조물과의 위상특성을 고려하여 최종결정한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법은 번호판의 문자가 검출되지 않는 경우에도 번호판 위치의 검출이 가능하고 특히 작은 크기의 번호판 검출에 유리하며, 크기와 상관없이 번호판을 검출할 수 있음을 실험을 통해 입증하였다.

완전 발달된 원형 충돌제트의 노즐 직경이 열전달에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Nozzle Diameter on Heat Transfer to a Fully Developed Round Impinging Jet)

  • The effect of nozzle diameter on the local Nusselt number distributions has been investigated for an axisymmetric turbulent jet impinging on the flat plate surface. The flow at the nozzle exit has a fully developed velocity profile. A uniform heat flux boundary condition at the plate surface was created using gold film Intrex. Liquid Crystal was used to measure the plate surface temperature. The experiments were made for the jet Reynolds number (Re) 23,000, the dimensionless nozzle to surface distance (L/d) from 2 to 14, and the nozzle diameter (d) from 1.36 to 3.40 cm. The results show that the Nusselt number at and near the stagnation point increase with an increasing value of the nozzle diameter.

  • A method is proposed to achieve improved number plate detection for mobile devices by applying a two-step convolutional neural network (CNN) approach. Supervised CNN-verified car detection is processed first. In the second step, we apply the detected car regions to the second CNN-verifier for number plate detection. Since mobile devices are limited in computing power, we propose a fast method to detect number plates. We expect to use in the field of intelligent transportation systems (ITS).

  • In this proposed work new finite element model for multi-delaminated plates is proposed. In the current analysis procedures of multi-delaminated plates, plate element based on Mindlin plate theory is used in order to obtain accurate results of out-of-plane displacement of thick plate. And for delaminated region, plate element based on Kirchhoff plate theory is considered. To satisfy the displacement continuity conditions, displacement vector based on Kirchhoff theory is transformed to displacement of transition element. The numerical results show that the effect of delaminations on the modal parameters of delaminated composites plates is dependent not only on the size, the location and the number of the delaminations but also on the mode number and boundary conditions. Kirchhoff based model have higher natural frequency than Mindlin based model and natural frequency of the presented model is closed to Mindlin based model.

관 출구로부터 방출하는 약한 충격파의 평판충돌에 관한 연구 (The Impingement of a Weak Shock Wave Discharged from a Tube Exit upon a Flat Plate)

  • The Impingement of a weak shock wave discharged from the open end of a shock tube upon a flat plate was investigated using shock tube experiments and numerical simulations. Harten-Yee Total Variation Diminishing method was used to solve axisymmetric, unsteady, compressible flow governing equations. Computations predicted the experimented results with a good accuracy. The peak pressure on the flat plate was not strongly dependent of the shock wave Mach number in the present range of Mach Number from 1.05 to 1.20. The distance between the plate and shock tube was changed to investigate the effect on the peak pressure. From both the results of experiments and computations we obtained a good empirical equation to predict the peak pressure on the flat plate.

Structural optimization of stiffener layout for stiffened plate using hybrid GA

  • The current trend in shipyard industry is to reduce the weight of ships to support the reduction of CO2 emissions. In this study, the stiffened plate was optimized that is used for building most of the ship-structure. Further, this study proposed the hybrid Genetic Algorithm (GA) technique, which combines a genetic algorithm and subsequent optimization methods. The design variables included the number and type of stiffeners, stiffener spacing, and plate thickness. The number and type of stiffeners are discrete design variables that were optimized using the genetic algorithm. The stiffener spacing and plate thickness are continuous design variables that were determined by subsequent optimization. The plate deformation was classified into global and local displacement, resulting in accurate estimations of the maximum displacement. The optimization result showed that the proposed hybrid GA is effective for obtaining optimal solutions, for all the design variables.

  • In this Paper, the ozonizer is fabricated by piling plate-type electrodes up to minimize and reduce install space. Hereby ozone generation characteristics of piled plate-type ozonizer were investigated. Inverse-polarity voltage was generated by H.V neon transformer. And 2 H.V neon transformers were used to supply high voltage each 9 electrodes of plate-type ozonizer. According to the experiments, ozone concentration, generation and yield were proportionally increased tilth increasing the number of electrode. And the maximum increase effects of 246%, 245%, and 33% were obtained when the number of electrode were increased from 3 up to 9.

온도구배를 갖는 평판에 대한 원형 충돌제트의 열전달 및 난류유동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the heat transfer and turbulent flow of round jet impinging the plate with temperature gradient)

  • An experimental study of jet impingement on the surface with linear temperature gradient is conducted with the presentation of the turbulent characteristics and the heat transfer rates measured when this jet impinges normally to a flat plate. The jet Reynolds number ranges from 30,000 to 90,000, the temperature gradient of the plate is 2~$4.2^{\circ}C$/cm and the dimensionless nozzle to plate distance(H/D) is from 6 to 10. The results show that the peak of heat transfer rate occurs at the stagnation point, and the heat transfer rate decreases as the radial distance from the stagnation point increases. A remarkable feature of the heat transfer rate is the existence of the second peak. This is due to the turbulent development of the wall jet. Maximum heat transfer rate occurs when the axial distance from the nozzle to nozzle diameter(H/D) is 8. The heat transfer rate can be correlated as a power function of Prandtl number, Reynolds number and the dimensionless nozzle to plate distance(H/D). It has been found that the heat transfer rate increases with increasing turbulent intensity.
