Making use of SN steel in the building structure should be a prerequisite to adopt the design strength of said steel. As a preceding study, the material properties of STKN400B/490B tubes and SPAP235/325 and SPAR295 square pipes manufactured using SN400B/490B plates were evaluated. Compared with the yield and ultimate strengths of SN400B/490B plates, those of STKN400B/490B tubes increase. Nonetheless, the yield and ultimate strengths of STKN400B/490B tubes satisfied the design codes of STKN400B/490B tubes even though the tubes were fabricated via roll bending or press forming. On the other hand, the yield and ultimate strengths at the edges of SPAP235/325 square pipes did not satisfy the design codes based on the values at the sides. The maximum tensile and compressive residual stresses at the SN490B tube were equal to and 40% of the yield strength of the SN490B plate, respectively, In the case of the SPAP325 square pipe, both the maximum tensile and compressive residual stresses were 80% of the yield strength of the SN490B plate. The axial compressive loaded column test results snowed that the buckling strengths were not very different regardless of the mode of fabrication of STKN490B tunes. i.e., through roll bending or press forming. On the other hand, the buckling strength of the SPAP325 square pipe was higher than that of the built-up square pipe.
The purpose of this study is to research the effect of using analogies in high school earth science classes. According to the usage of TWA model, three types of teaching strategies were developed: text developer-generated, teacher-generated, and student-generated analogies. The model described in this paper began with a task analysis of highschool science textbooks for grade 10 to identify how the textbook authors used analogies to explain plate tectonics concepts. In this study, 210 students were sampled from first graders of high school. After 7 classes, the consciousness of students was investigated with questionnaires. The results are as follows: 1. Many plate-tectonics analogies are used in high school science textbooks (total 25). Teachers and authors construct effective analogies to help students build on their relevant knowledge by applying it to new knowledge acquired from textbooks. 2. Analysis of the data indicate that instruction using student-generated analogies was more effective than others. But in the class in conveying complicated concepts (ex. transform fault), teacher-generated instruction was effective. Teachers need to be aware of the weakness of using analogies in order to select the most appropriate analogies. 3. Making analogies in general, as well as using analogies have systematic steps. Analogies should be used after considering student's preconception, teacher's consciousness and text author's intention to use analogies as powerful instructional tools.

Ultrasonic Vibrator is designed to achieve the maximum vibration amplitude at 30 kHz by in-cluding a horn (diameter, 40 mm), mechanical vibration amplifier at the top of the ultrasonic vibrator in the system and making the complete system resonate. In addition, it is experimentally visualized by particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) that the acoustic streaming velocity in the gap is at maximum when the gap between the ultrasonic vibrator and stationary plate agrees with the multiples of half-wavelength of the ultrasonic wave. This fact results from the resonance of the sound wave and the theoretical analysis of that is also accomplished and verified by experiment. It is observed that the magnitude of the acoustic streaming dependent upon the gap between the ultrasonic vibrator and stationary plate possibly changes due to the measurement of the average velocity fields of the acoustic streaming induced by the ultrasonic vibration at resonance and non-resonance. There exists extremely small average velocity at non-resonant gaps while the relatively large average velocity exists at resonant gaps compared with non-resonant gaps. It also reveals that there should be larger axial turbulent intensity at the hub region of the vibrator and at the edge of it in the resonant gap where the air streaming velocity is maximized and the flow phenomena is conspicuous than that at the other region. Because the variation of the acoustic streaming velocity at resonant gap is more distinctive than that at non-resonant gap, shear stress increases more in the resonant gap and is also maximized at the center region of the vibrator except the local position of center (r〓0). At the non-resonant gap there should be low values of vorticity distribution, but in contrast to the non-resonant gap, high and negative values of it exist at the center region of the vibrator with respect to the radial direction and in the vicinity of the middle region with respect to the axial direction. Acoustic streaming is noise-free due to the ultrasonic vibration and maintenance-free because of the absence of moving parts. Moreover, the proposed method by acoustic streaming can be utilized to the nano and micro-electro mechanical systems as a driving mechanism in addition to the augmentation of the streaming velocity.

Standard sample for quality control of total coliform measurement was procured by addition of nalidixic acid and cephalexin as bacteriostatic agents to Escherichia coli cultured broth. After making the standard sample, the number of E. coli was measured by fluorescence microscopic count method and plate count method by 12 hr interval. The numbers of E. coli remained unchanged for at least for 48 hr at room temperature which ranged from 3.5 to $4.2{\times}10^5\;cells/ml$ and from 1.0 to $1.2{\times}10^4\;CFU/ml$ by direct fluorescence microscopic count method and plate count method, respectively. This result suggests that microbial standard sample with bacteriostatic agents of nalidixic acid and cephalexin is usable for quantitative quality control.

Background: The purpose of our study was to evaluate the functional and radiologic outcomes of additive augmentation sutures through rotator cuff for proximal humeral fractures stabilized locking plate in elderly patients. Methods: We enrolled 74 patients over the age of 60 years who received internal fixation using locking plates for proximal humeral fractures. Of these, 50 patients had additive augmentation sutures through rotator cuff. The mean age at the time of surgery was 72.1 years (range, 60-89 years), and the mean follow-up period was 17.5 months (range, 12-62 months). The humeral neck-shaft angle and humeral head height were used as radiological markers to assess the effect of additive augmentation sutures through rotator cuff. We allocated the patients who received additive augmentation sutures into group A and those who did not into group B. Results: At the final follow-up, the mean Korean Showlder Society score and Constant scores were $88.96{\pm}12.1$ and $86.6{\pm}11.9$, respectively, in group A and $86.21{\pm}11.8$ and $85.3{\pm}11.7$, respectively, in group B (p=0.368, 0.271). At the final follow-up, the mean loss in humeral neck-shaft angle from the time of immediate postoperative measurement was $1.6^{\circ}$ in group A and $4.8^{\circ}$ in group B, whereas the mean loss in humeral head height was 0.82 mm in group A and 0.52 mm in group B (p=0.029, 0.178). Conclusions: The surgical outcomes of internal fixation using locking plates for proximal humeral fractures were clinically and radiologically good in elderly patients over the age of 60 years without any observable complications. Further, the loss of humeral head shaft angle at the final follow-up from its initial postoperative measurement was significantly smaller in patients who received an additive augmentation suture than in those who did not. Thus, we conclude that augmentation sutures are a beneficial option for elderly patients that clinicians can consider at the time of surgical decision making.

The objective of this study was to compare early child care center teachers' attitudes for meal and snack guidance between Sweden and Korea. Participants were 251 early child care center teachers (Sweden: 134, Korea: 117) working in Goetebory, Sweden, and Seoul, Korea. The survey was conducted from December in 2003 to February in 2004. SPSS programme was used for statistical analysis. Sixty five point eight percent of the Korean early child care center teachers provided a certain amount of foods for children. But $20.9\%$ of Swedish provided a certain amount of foods for children, $79.1\%$ of them provided the amount a child wanted. Sixty one point seven percent of Korean teachers allowed a child leave foods on the plate, but $95.5\%$ of Swedish teachers asked a child eat all food on the plate. When a child didn't want to eat, $61.1\%$ of the Korean teachers fed him/her, but $11.0\%$ of the Swedish teachers did. Only $42.4\%$ of the Swedish teachers allowed a children eat sweets, but $92.9\%$ of Korean did. The Swedish teachers' perception for food guidance were eating by child himself/herself > washing hands before eating > having appropriate table manner > eating as talking with friends > not playing during the meal time, while the Korean teachers' was taking various food > having appropriate table manner > eating by child himself/herself, not playing during the meal time > washing hands before eating. The Swedish teachers thought 'eating as talking with friends' and 'eating by child himself/herself' is important, where as the Korean's did 'eating without making noise', 'not playing during the mealtime' in the eating behavior. For 'brushing teeth after meal' the Swedish teachers' score (1.5) was lower than the Korean (4.2). The results is necessary to improve meal and snack guidance for Korean early child care center teachers' education.

Samsung Electro Mechanics ink jet has developed ultra high resolution alignment system. The alignment system has been developed for repeatable printing of conductive ink. The resolution of alignment system is 0.5um and the velocity of printing working plate is 1.5m/s. So far repeated printing results included sintering process have over 30um of drop mislocation data. In order to improve line thickness and conductivity of metal line, we need to develop the higher mechanical accurate align system. On the demand, this developed align system has under $1{\sim}2{\mu}m$ mispositioning performance and can measure of mechanical accuracy of inkjet printer, as well as the straightness of jetted drop from inkjet head. There is no kinds limit of substrate and ink to use SEM alignment system. By using this alignment system, we progress two experiment of reiterate printing drop and making conductive line on the glass and photo paper. Optical microscope and 3D profiler has been used for measurement of printed ink.

In this research, LCA analysis of the manufacturing process of pot bearing for fixed, movable in all directions, movable in one direction was carried out to analyze the environmental load using the LCA methodology. Especially, the water footprint that has been and issue in recent years was analyzed. As a result of LCA, it was analyzed that the contribution of the plate was more than 64.2% in all of the six impact categories in the case of fixed pot bearing base, and more than 94% in the category of resource depletion and photochemical oxidant creation. In the case of all direction pot bearing and one direction pot bearing, the contribution of PTFE was the highest in the global warming and stratospheric ozone depletion, and the contribution by the plate was higher in the other impact categories. The water footprint of each type of pot bearing was analyzed as $22.4m^3\;H_2O\;eq/kg$ for one direction pot bearing, $17.1m^3\;H_2O\;eq/kg$ for fixed pot bearing, and $14.1m^3\;H_2O\;eq/kg$ for all direction pot bearing. As a result of life cycle analysis, the contribution of water use in manufacturing was more than 65% in all three types. The results of this study can be used as basic data for decision making in construction method and material selection of bridges in the future.
The contemporary two-jaw surgical approach usually involves a Le Fort osteotomy of the maxilla and a ramal osteotomy of the mandible with 3-dimensional repositioning of the jaws as well as the occlusal planes. After making the surgical treatment plan. the surgical movements are duplicated in the model surgery. During this procedure, reference poings and lines are drawn on the base of the models over the dental arch and sawcuts are mads according to these marked osteotomy lines. This technique, however, has been found to be inexact. especially when the laws are moved in several dimensions simultaneously. To overcome this. different methods have been developed for an accurate repositioning of the jaws as planned. A new appliance. Surgical Jaw Relater, has been devised by th8 author for the simple 3-dimensional relocation of the upper and lower models, resulting in the easy construction of the splints such as centric relation splint, intermediate and final splint. This article describes an introduction and a clinical application of this appliance. Through the application of this system to the orthognathic cases including two-law surgery. it is proved that the row device is very clinically useful.
The generator for gas turbine power generation consists of the rotor which generates magnetic field, the winding coil which is the path for the field current and the wedge and retaining ring which prevents the radial movement of the coil. Relatively severe deformation was observed at the coil end section during the inspection of the generator for peaking-load operation, and the thermal-electricity and the centrifugal force were evaluated by the simple modeling of the windings to find the cause. But the simulation stress was not sufficient to induce the coil plastic deformation. The analysis result seems to be applicable to the base-load generators which runs continuously without shut down up to a year, but there had been more deformation than simulated for the generator which is started up and shut down frequently. The cause of the coil deformation was the restriction of the expansion and shrinkage. The restriction occurs when the winding coil shrinks, and the stress overwhelms the yield stress and cause the plastic deformation. The deformation is accumulated during the start-ups and shut-downs and the thermal growth occurs. The factors which induce the coil restriction during the expansion and shrinkage should be reduced to prevent the unallowable deformation. The resolutions are cutting off the field current earlier during the generator shut-down, modifying the coil end section to remove the stress concentration and making the insulation plate inserted between the coil end section and the retaining ring have the constant thickness.
