A Study on the Optical Properties of the Organic Thin Films by Plasma Polymerization(II) (플라즈마 중합법에 의한 유기 박막의 광학 특성에 관한 연구 (II))

  • In this study, We made use of inter-electrode capacitively coupled type plasma polymerization apparatus in order to make the organic optical thin films. We adopted in Benzen. Vinyl-Pyridine and Styrene, which have optical function in the organic world and manufactured double later. It is examined optics properties by it respectively. At the middle wave length as 550[nm], the transmittance is double layer smaller than one of single layer. The refractive index with wave length is various from 1.55 to 1.65. Then, it is known that measured results are valid because the extinction coefficient(K) is about $10^{-4}$ for variation of refractive index.

  • Plasma polymerization of Perfiuoropropene(PFP) and n-Hexane was carried out in a tubular type reactor by means of 13.56MHz radio frequency generator at the fixed RF discharge power of 25W and at the pressures of 100mTorr, 140mTorr and 200mTorr. The thin films were deposited on PAN fabrics in order to improve the dimemsional stability of woven states in hot water laundry. IR spectroscopy was used for the analysis of the structures of the thin films deposited and SEM for examination of surfaces of the fabrics. the PAN fabrics, which were coated by thin films at several experimental conditions, were immersed in boiling water for 2 hours and then the dimension stability of woven states were evaluated. In spite of very thin films, the results of surface modification were satisfactory. In general the performace of thin films by PFP was superior to that of n-Hexane.

  • The polymerization rate, chemical structure and optical properties of tetramethyldisiloxane(TMS) have been investigated. The rate of polymerization of TMS films increased nonlinearly with the discharge power. The refractive indices of thin films varied from 1.40 to 1.43 and they also increased with increasing discharge power. Also, the extinction coefficient was about 0.2 and is independent of photon energy.

  • In this thesis, it is designed efficient electrode formation on the organic luminescent device. ITO electrode is treated with $O_2$plasma. In order to inject hole efficiently, there is proposed the shape of anode that inserted plasma polymerized films as buffer layer between anode and organic layer using thiophene monomer. It is realized efficiently electron injection to aluminum due to introduce the quantum well in cathode. In the case of device inserted the buffer layer by using the plasma poiymerization after $O_2$plasma processing for ITO transparent electrode, since it forms the stable interface and reduce the moving speed of hole, the recombination of hole and electronic ate made in the omitting layer. Compared with the devices without buffer layer, the turn-on voltage was lowered by 1.0(V) doc to the introduction of buffer layer Since the quantum well structure is formed in front of cathode to optimize the tunneling effect, there is improved the power efficiency more than two times.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to fabricate the hexamethyldisiloxane thin film by plasma polymerization method, and to investigate the electric conduction characteristics of plasma polymerized thin film. Current density was measured in being changed annealing temperature(room temperature${\sim}125[^{\circ}C]$) and electric field intensity($10^5{\sim}1.2{\times}10^6$[V/cm]). The current density of thin films fabricated at discharge power of $30{\sim}90$[W] showed $1.3{\times}10^{-11}{\sim}3.1{\times}10^{-12}[A/cm^2]$ after 10 minutes of permission of electric field. The current density increased gradually with increasing of annealing temperature and electric field intensity. The electric conduction type of thin films fabricated in discharge power of 90[W] agreed with Schottky type.

  • A novel polyacrylamide grafted hydrous ferric oxide adsorbent composite has been synthesized by using glow discharge electrolysis plasma. To optimize the synthesis conditions, the following parameters were examined in detail: applied power, discharge time, post polymerization temperature, post polymerization time, amount of crosslinking agent and hydrous ferric oxide gel added and so on. The adsorbent was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The removal percentage of the adsorbent in Pb(II) solution was examined and the data obtained showed that the adsorbent composite has a high capacity for lead ion. For the use in wastewater treatment, the thermodynamic and kinetic of Pb(II)-capture were also studied. Results indicated that the adsorption reaction was a spontaneous and an endothermic process, and it seems to be obeyed a pseudo-secondorder rate model. Moreover, the adsorption isotherm of Pb(II)-capture is following the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models.

  • In the study, samples were made on the electrode in internal glass bell jar by the radio frequency discharge polymerization. The polymerization rate of samples was observed as a function of r.f. discharge power. The characteristics of polymers obtained from TMDSO and HMDSO were analyzed by FT-IR and TGA, and their electrical properties were examined on insulation resistivity, breakdown voltage, dielectric constant, and tan ${\delta}$. (1) There was no difference between PPTMDSO and PPHMDSO in a polymerization rate and thermal and electrical properties. (2) The growing rates of thin film with discharge powers were from $0.42{\mu}/h$ to $1.2{\mu}m/h$. (3) According to IR spectra analysis, discharge power did not effect polymer structure due to polyermization mechanism and effected only polymerization rate. (4) PPTMDSO and PPHMDSO were thermally resistive polymers which did not decompose to $300^{\circ}C$.

  • We studied the pasteurization effect of the microorganism involved in the water, using ion-exchanging filter made of the Radiation Induced Grafted Polymerization. This ion-exchanging filter is made by the graft polymerization of GMA, after irradiation of electron beam to the non-woven filter. Then, we made the ion-exchanging filter (EtA, DEA, SS) applying ion-exchanging base to the GMA filter. As a result, the density of the ion-exchanging base is shown as 2.38 mol/kg in case of EtA, 1.79 mol/kg in case of DEA and 0.75 mol/kg in case of SS. Through this filter made by this method, we measured the pasteurization power of E. coli. We found very high elimination rate such as log 4.65 in case of SS-dial filter, which is higher as 3.00 times in comparison with EtA, and 1.10 times in comparison with DEA. This data show the result is very excellent comparing with 3,000 CFU/ml. of city water treatment basis.

  • Teflon-like fluorocarbon thin film was deposited by using difluoromethane$(CH_2F_2$) added with Ar, $O_2$, and $CH_4$ on Si, $SiO_2$, TEOS, and Al substrate. The deposited thin film was characterized by static contact angles for measuring hydrophobicity in various additive gas ratio. temperature, and working pressure. In case of addition with Ar, the static contact angles decreased as additive gas ratio and power increased. But the static contact angles increased as working pressure increased. Specially, super-hydrophobic surface was obtained using the powder-like fluorocarbon thin film above 2 Torr. Added with $O_2$, the static contact angles decreased as the $O_2$ ratio and working pressure increased. And the static contact angles did not change in 100W, but hydrophilic surface was obtained at 200W. In case of addition of CE$_4$, static contact angles dramatically increased in $CH_4/CH_2F_2$ ratio 5. And continuous static contact angles obtained above ratio 5. As compare with previous experiments by thermal evaporation, the fluorocarbon thin film by plasma polymerization was obtained very low hysteresis. This results shows more homogenous surface by plasma polymerization than thermal evaporation process.
