Waste to Energy Plant were recognized as hateful facilities, and there were many conflicts in the location due to social problems such as the NIMBY phenomenon due to problems such as damage to property in the surrounding area, odor, and image loss. Problems such as air pollution and odor are solved by the development of advanced prevention facilities such as electric dust collectors, wet cleaning systems, semi-dry reaction towers, bag filters, and catalyst towers (SCR: Selective Catalytic Reduction), and air recycling facilities in waste storage tanks. However, it is being avoided because of the perception that it is an incinerator. To resolve these conflicts, the government installs and operates resident convenience facilities to compensate residents near resource recovery facilities, provides green space and improves the environment, and supports heating expenses in accordance with the 「Waste Treatment Facility Support Act」. The purpose of this study is to derive implications through the analysis of domestic and overseas case studies for resident convenience facilities and environment improvement for the promotion of local communities in resource recovery facilities and use them as basic data for community promotion and environmental improvement when installing resource recovery facilities in the future.
Operator's action time is evaluated from MAAP4 analysis used in conventional probabilistic safety assessment(PSA) of a nuclear power plant. MAAP4 code which was developed for severe accident analysis is too conservative to perform a realistic PSA. A best-estimate code such as RELAP5/MOD3, MARS has been used to reduce the conservatism of thermal hydraulic analysis. In this study, operator's action time of core cooling recovery operation is evaluated by using the MARS code, which its Fussell-Vessely(F-V) value was evaluated as highly important in a small break loss of coolant(SBLOCA) event and loss of component cooling water(LOCCW) event in previous PSA. The main conclusions were elicited : (1) MARS analysis provides larger time window for operator's action time than MAAP4 analysis and gives the more realistic time window in PSA (2) Sufficient operator's action time can reduce human error probability and core damage frequency in PSA.
Tsunami disaster, which ruined Japan Fukushima nuclear power plant sites in 2011 March, has raised not only the perception of that Tsunami and/or large scale flooding possibly surpass the design baselines for industry facilities and plants, but also the necessity to establish recovery system against flooding. This study suggests the framework for flooding and drainage system in compliance with flooding and drainage concept to define and identify requirements, functions, and components of the system with traceable relations. The framework with combination to CMMI engineering process is the base of corresponding high level system design.
The purpose of this study is not only to evaluate thermal performance but also to find the stress behavior of heat transfer tubes under the part load operation in Heat Recovery Steam Generator. Flow analysis was performed to know the behavior of exhaust gas from gas turbine and thermal performance was calculated using distribution of hot exhaust velocity. In addition, tubes temperature during operation were gathered from actual plant to verify the uneven flow distribution under part load operation. Stress analysis was performed using tubes temperature data gathered from actual plant under both part and full load operations to know the stress behavior of tubes.

The degree of iron recovery from dust agglomerates was investigated experimentally to determine the optimum mixing ratio of coke in cold bonded pellet(CBP) which is fed into electric arc furnace(EAE) in the minimill plant. From the XRD analysis for EAF dust, magnetite(Fe$_3$O$_4$) and franklinite(ZnFe$_2$O$_4$) was identified as major components. Maximum iron recovery was obtained for the solid carbon content of approximately 18 weight percent. From plant trials of CBP composed of this optimal mixing condition, it was observed that electric power consumption and sulfur content increased with increasing the quantity of CBP.
Depreciation accounting has as its main objective, the recovery of the original cost of plant investment less net salvage, over the estimated useful life of that plant. Accuracy of the whole life technique in meeting this objective depends entirely on the original estimates of service life and net salvages for an account. Where the whole life technique has been used and original estimates prove inaccurate, excessive or deficient accumulations in the depreciation reserve frequently occur. To overcome this, the remaining life technique is suggested to better match the challenges of accelerated technology and competition within the regulated environment. The flexibility of the remaining life technique will allow an even chance to provide a complete recovery of the original cost.
Partial recovery in auxin transport capacity from inhibition by N-naphthylphthalamic acid (NPA) was observed when corn coleoptile segments were subjected to a prolonged NPA treatment. Kinetic data indicated that the recovery time is a function of the concentration of NPA applied. Desensitization to NPA was also seen in tissue slices where NPA increased net uptake of auxin, indicating that the apparant adaptation in the auxin transport system did not results possibly from auxin accumulated during transport inhibition. Studies on in vitro binding of NPA to membrane vesicles isolated from the coleoptile indicated that preincubation of the tissue with NPA resulted in the reduced binding activity. Scatchard analysis of the data indicated that this was due to decreases in the number of NPA binding sites. The possibility of causal relationship of modified NPA receptors to the sensory adaptation in auxin transport observed in coleoptile segments will be discussed.
A chemical sequencing batch reactor was operated to test the feasibility of nutrient recovery from a biological livestock wastewater treatment plant. Both phosphate and ammonia could be successfully recovered as magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) crystals. The contents of TP and TN in the recovered MAP crystals were 26.2% and 4.0%, respectively. Zn, Cr and Ti were identified in the crystals, but the contents remained below the Korean standard for an organic fertilizer. Chemical analyses confirmed that the MAP crystals could be useful phosphate fertilizers. On the other hand, the results of physical analyses using an X-ray diffractometer and an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer strongly suggested that crystalline materials like magnesium potassium phosphate (KMP) and hydroxyapatite (HAP) were also formed during the MAP crystallization, depending on the availability of K+ and Ca2+.
The thickness and chemical composition of oxides on heat recovery steam generator tubes of combined cycle power plant were examined in order to evaluate the corrosion of the tubes. Tubes were removed from the plant after actual operations for 21,482, 42,552 and 56,123 hours respectively. Thickness and growth rate of the oxide scale on reheater inner tube (SA213-T22) were very high compared to those other tubes. The oxide scale was about $250{\mu}m$ thick and uniform. The components of the scale were iron oxides. The oxide scale was mixed oxides consisting of magnetite$(Fe_3O_4)$ and hematite$(Fe_2O_3)$. The oxide on inner tube was removed using many kinds of chemicals and it was found that chelating agents were dissolved faster than other chemicals.
