  • The present study conducted a parameter effect analysis of low-frequency squeal noise using a numerical simulation. The finite element program ABAQUS was used to calculate the dynamic instability based on a complex eigenvalue analysis. A total of five parameters, including the chassis, wear, piston, material property, and contact condition, were selected to identify the factor effects on a low-frequency squeal noise between 2.5 and 3.1 kHz. The present study found the dominant level of each factor through an analysis of the means in the context of the experiment design.

  • In-cylinder spray flow motion plays an important in the adjustment of mixture preparation with a fundamental spray characteristics and in-cylinder flow field well in direct-injection gasoline engine. In this study, the fundamental spray characteristics such as mean drop size, velocity distribution, spray angle were measured and in-cylinder spray flow motion was visualized in order to optimize intake port, piston top land and combustion chamber shapes in the development stage of mass-produced G야 engine. For these experiments, the PDPA measurements and Mie scattering technique were used for detailed spray characteristics and in-cylinder spray motions were obtained by use of ICCD camera through the single-cylinder optical engine. From the experimental results, the test injector shows a good low-end linearity between the dynamic flow and fuel injection pulse width and the fuel spray of 20mm or less in SMD with good spray symmetry. In addition, the in-cylinder tumble flow has more effect on the homogeneous mixture formation than that of in-cylinder swirl flow at early injection mode and the in-cylinder swirl flow plays a better role of stratified mixture preparation than tumble flow at late injection mode.

  • Because the generally reported radiation impedance has been calculated for vibrating surface with infinite baffle, the results have difficulties to apply for design of the real transducers with finite baffle. In this paper, with assuming a vibrating surface as a set of small point sources, a new calculation method for the vibrating surface with finite baffle is suggested by considering the effect of finite baffle on the source strength of each point source. As an example, the variation of self-radiation impedance for rectangular vibrating surface is calculated according to the size of baffle. The results show that the suggested method is useful.

  • In this study, a passive suppression scheme for nonlinear flutter problem of composite panel, which is believed to be more reliable than the active control methods in practical operations, is proposed. This scheme utilizes a piezoelectric inductor-resistor series shunt circuit. The finite element equations of motion for an electromechanically coupled system is derived by applying the Hamilton\\`s principle. The aerodynamic theory adopted for the present study is based on the quasi-steady piston theory, and von-barman nonlinear strain-displacement relation is also applied. The passive suppression results for nonlinear panel flutter are obtained in the time domain using the Newmark-$\beta$ method. To achieve the best damping effect, optimal shape and location of fille piezoceramic (PZT) patches are determined by using genetic algorithms. The effects of passive suppression are investigated by employing in turn one shunt circuit and two independent shunt circuits. Feasibility studies show that two independent inductor-resistor shunt circuits suppresses flutter more effectively than a single shunt circuit. The results clearly demonstrate that the passive damping scheme that uses piezoelectric shunt circuit can effectively attenuate the flutter.

  • The efficient plan and numerical methods for development of the interior ballistics code have been investigated. The schemes of the numerical code for the moving boundary with the projectile movement have been compared and verified through the free piston motion problem. The combustion of solid propellants and the pressure gradient in the chamber by the porosity effect have been predicted based on the numerical calculation of the initial combustion of the interior ballistics. Computerization techniques of the fundamental schemes and plans for development of the numerical analysis code for the interior ballistics have been obtained.

  • This paper deals with the internal oscillating flaw in air chamber and duct of an OWC-type wave energy converter by numerical analysis using commercial CFD code, FLUENT. Whole oscillating flaw from OWC-type chamber to outlet through duct was solved by unsteady analysis in order that performance of wave energy conversion was made better. Results show that whole oscillating flaw field of this system in unsteady condition. Duct shape at setting place of turbine is curved with elbow, because profile of inlet condition to turbine is important in its efficiency. This paper is found internal flaw in air chamber and duct. Also, this research was found effect of duct shape.

  • Sediment from six piston cores from the East Sea (Sea of Japan) was analyzed for evidence of paleoceanographic changes and paleoclimatic variation. A distinct geochemical boundary is evident in major element concentrations and organic carbon content of most cores near the 10-ka horizon. This distinctive basal Holocene change is interpreted to be largely the result of changing sediment sources, an interpretation supported by TiO_2/Al_2O_3$ ratios. Organic carbon and carbonate contents also differ significantly between the Holocene and glacial intervals. The C/N ratio of organic matter is greater than 10 during the glacial period, but is less than 10 for the Holocene, suggesting that the influx of terrigenous organic matter was more volumetrically important than marine organic matter during glacial times. The chemical index of weathering (CIW) is higher for the Holocene than the glacial interval, and changes markedly at the basal Holocene geochemical boundary. Silt fractions are higher in the glacial interval, suggesting a strong effect of climate on silt particle transportation: terrigenous aluminosilicates and continental organic carbon transport were higher during glacial times than during the Holocene. Differences in sediment composition between the Holocene and glacial period are interpreted to have been climatically induced.

  • In this paper integral equations are derived and simulated numerically for the mutual radiation impedance of an acoustic transducer in a Plane array. It is assumed that the pistons are mounted in the rigid infinite baffle. The mutual radiation impedance is separated into resistance and reactance and plotted as a function of ka and kd. Mutual radiation resistance is decreased and perturbed according to increase of ka. Mutual radiation reactance is decreased along to increase of ka. Mutual impedance is decreased when kd is increased. However, when ka is 6, 13, and 19 the interaction effect is decayed. When the relative piston position of the two pistons is 45 degree, the amount of interaction becomes minimized.

  • Recently, many researches have been performed to improve the performance of the combustion and emission in a D.I.Diesel engine. And many new techniques have been introduced and developed to reduce NO$_{x}$ and soot exhausted from diesel combustion. Some of these methods have the peculiar injection timing which is not used to traditional timing. To optimize these injection timing, characteristics of swirl flow and interaction of swirl with injection in the diesel engine should be investigated more carefully. Therefore, in this study, 2-zone energy method is adopted for the understanding of swirl flow in condition of moving piston, and then flame visualizations and image process are performed. From these studies, the characteristics of the swirl flow generated by SCV was investigated and the effect of swirl on injection timing was elucidated. As the results, velocity distribution caused by swirl flow increase the space utilization rate of flame plums. And flame plums of weak momentum are remained inside of combustion chamber by the swirl flow.w.

  • As vehicles are recently becoming more important in our life, the study for engine capacity has been conducted for many years. Specially, the study on lubrication in the engine is needed to develop engine capacity. The role of lubrication is to reduce fraction, manage the temperature and protect from corrosion etc. At the view point of the engine, lubrication and cooling of the engine have an effect on the life and efficiency, so we have to study this problem. Ball check valve is located in the inlet of the Oil Jet. Ball check valve is used to control the flow rate of the engine oil, which cools and lubricates the engine. Flow rate at the oil jet is very important, so the study for this problem is needed to conduct researches. The point of this study is to compute the flow rate and the flow in oil jet. The results of this study is that the mass flow rate is satisfied with the research which is obtained at the experiment.
