  • The medicinal effects of 107 grains in $\boxDr$Dongeuebogam$\boxUl$ were studied for the development of healthy Korean traditional meal. Their efficacy, way of use, fact of taboo were mentioned in it. Grains were utilized and processed as tang(soup), jook(porridge), boonmal(powder), kunjo(drying), etc. Most of grains had sweet taste and mild nature(not hot and not cold) based on Eum-Yang-Oh-Haeng theory. The medicinal effects of grains described in $\boxDr$Dongeuebogam$\boxUl$ were the protection of stomach and intestine, enhancement of physical activity, protection of hair and skin, thirst elimination, treatment of several diseases, maintenance of health, etc.

  • Using content analysis this study examined Korean people's traditional view on children with disabilities, hoping to contribute to the selection of appropriate picture books for an understanding of disabilities in kindergartens and child care centers. Story book characters with disabilities mainly interacted with their families and village people, had lower positions, did not accomplish their work on their own, and suffered from others' anger and beating. Differences in types of disabilities were that physical disabilities were viewed positively, while mental disabilities were viewed negatively. The former had wider scope of activities and maintained more positive relationships with other characters than the latter; furthermore, the former had higher position than the latter and had cooperative interactions with people without disabilities.

  • An analytical study is made of transient adjustment process of an initially stationary, stably-stratified fluid in a square. The boundary walls are highly-conducting. The overall Rayleigh number $R_a$ is large. Considerations are given to both opposing (${\delta}w/{\delta}T>0$) and cooperating (${\delta}w/{\delta}T<0$) configurations. The flow character in opposing configuration can be classified into (a) a forced-convection dominaut mode (${\delta}w/{\delta}T>1/\sqrt{2}$), (b) a buoyancy-convection dominant mode ($0<{\delta}w/{\delta}T<1/\sqrt{2}$), and (c) a static mode (${\delta}w/{\delta}T{\cong}1/\sqrt{2}$). Global evolutionary processes are depicted. and physical rationalizations are provided.

  • The purpose of this study supply data that can make a living room a more comfortable space by using a plan of furniture usage, that is to say more affective to human's mental and physical character. For this purpose made experiment with slide film on 39 representative descriptions. The object of this research was female university students and to analyze the data. factor analysis. One-way ANOVA and scheffe-test were used by running SPSS PC+ program. The major results are as follows. In experiment with slide film for grasping spatial effect and evaluation on the 39 representative descriptions, three dimensions(clearness. openness. variety) extracted as the result of factor analysis. Especially the result of this study - sizes of space put independent valuables and each demotion put dependent valuables - shows differences according to space’ size.

  • Although researchers have, during the past decade, become increasingly interested in customer satisfaction customer reaction, and service quality issues, very little of research has devoted to the family restaurant. Family restaurant industry is among the fastest growing sectors of the tourism market. This paper discusses the importance of the family restaurant product and service quality, and presents the relationship among service quality, customer satisfaction, and customer reaction. The literature supports the value of family restaurant's service quality and relation between service quality and customer reaction. Exploratory study examined customer's satisfaction with service quality components and customer's reaction with satisfaction. The survey was conducted in four phases; service quality, customer reaction(satisfaction, repurchase intention, and word of mouth), restaurant information, general profile of customer. The results of the study show that service quality(product's quality, physical character) provided family restaurant customer with the overall satisfaction, and service quality affected on customer reaction(repurchase intention, positive word of mouth). Also overall satisfaction affected on repurchase intention and positive word of mouth.

  • The chemistry background of the Maillard reaction focused on pyrazines and factors affecting the reaction products were reviewed. The Maillard reaction, also called a non-enzymatic browning reaction, is quite complex and generates numerous reaction products. In processed foods, it is generally accepted as a key reaction to produce flavor components. Specially, pyrazines possess an important impact character on the roasted foods with other heterocyclic compounds. The Maillard reaction is initiated by condensation between reducing sugar and amino group, and N-glycosylamines are produced via Schiff base with dehydration of water. After the rearrangement of the N-glycosylamines, they follow transformation into deoxyhexosones which are reactive intermediates. Degradation and fragmentation are facilitated by rearranged compounds. By condensation, pyrazine, one of the final Maillard products, is generated as a relatively stable form to provide specific aromas. During the processes of the reaction, chemical or physical environmental parameters affect the formation of the products.

  • A decoupling technique for simulating near-field wave motions in two-phase media is introduced in this paper. First, an equivalent but direct weighted residual method is presented in this paper to solve boundary value problems more explicitly. We applied the Green's theorem for integration by parts on the equivalent integral statement of the field governing equations and then introduced the Neumann conditions directly. Using this method and considering the precision requirement in wave motion simulation, a lumped-mass FEM for two-phase media with clear physical concepts and convenient implementation is derived. Then, considering the innate attenuation character of the wave in two-phase media, an attenuation parameter is introduced into Liao's Multi-Transmitting Formula (MTF) to simulate the attenuating outgoing wave in two-phase media. At last, two numerical experiments are presented and the numerical results are compared with the analytical ones demonstrating that the lumped-mass FEM and the generalized MTF introduced in this paper have good precision.

  • There are many reports on the stability of drugs in powders and tablets. The stabilities of ascorbic acid in the antacid preparations, such as calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium trisilicate, magnesium alumino silicate, and dried aluminum hydroxide gel under various humidities were examined. From the result of the experiment, it was assumed that the concentration of ascorbic acid, the amount of water-vapor sorption, and the physical character of the antacid ingredients were the main factors, influencing the degradation of ascorbic acid. The ascorbic acid, mixed with carbonates, such as calcium carbonate, was degradaded rapidly, while the preparation with dried aluminum hydroxide gel was slightly degraded after 10 days. A 2% ascorbic acid in the prepation was rapidly degraded than 10% ascorbic acid in the preparation.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the linkage between environmental theory and physical development such as housing estate developments. Firstly, this paper examines environmentalism to see varying approaches in the resolution of environmental problems. Here, Technocentrism, Econcentrism and Ecosocialism was seen as dominant theoretical approaches. Secondly, an international case study on ecological housing development was conducted. Four German, Australian, Japan and Korean examples were taken as cases which revealed a wide spectrum of development tendencies. An analytical framework of building methods evaluated by the environmental theories was established. And by evaluating the cases with this framework, we were able to find out the overall environmental character of each housing developments. The hypothesis of this paper is that these differences can be explained through the differences that exist in society which the theoretical represents. The research revealed strong linkage with social tendencies.

  • A series of titanium complexes containing terdentate β-ketoiminate ligands were found to be efficient for the ring-opening polymerization of ε-caprolactone (ε-CL), producing poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) with bimodal distribution. Steric factors imposed by methyl substituents on the back bone of the alkoxy group affected significantly the polymerization rate and physical properties of the resulting PCL. Intra- and intermolecular transesterifications rather than disproportional rearrangements were responsible for the bimodal behavior and for the change in the molecular weight (Mw). Dilution with toluene reduced yield, and lowered polydispersity (PDI) and Mw of PCL, while the catalytic activities of the dimeric complex, [Ti(Oi-Pr)2(N-alkoxy-β- ketoiminate)]2 and Ti(Oi-Pr)4 were not sensitive to the added solvent. The dimeric complex showed living character, while other catalysts suffered from chain termination reactions.
