  • This study is to trace the change of stream shape using the past series of aerial photographs and compare the land use changes of inland along the stream. For the Gyeong-an national stream, aerial photographs of 1966, 1981 and 2000 was selected and ortho photograph was made with RMSE of 1.05, 0.54, 0.72 pixels, respectively. As apparent changes of the stream, the consolidated reaches of stream with levee construction were straightened and their stream width widened. Especially the stream width of inlet part of Paldang lake was widened almost twice because of the rise of water level by dam construction in 1974.

  • Recently various thematic maps and image maps using aerial photograph and satellite imagery are frequently made. The geo-referencing is essential to make image map and topographic map using aerial photograph and satellite imagery. For this geo-referencing, Ground Control Points (GCPs) are needed. In this paper, we used GPS relative positioning to measure GCP ground coordinate and the accuracy of 8cm level was achieved. We made GCP image chips for the efficiency of geo-referencing and carried out the bundle adjustment of aerial photographs using GCP image chips to acquire the GCP photo coordinate with image matching technique. Finally we analyzed the accuracy of bundle adjustment compared to the accuracy of the case in using digital maps to acquire GCP photo coordinate.

  • Lineaments along the Yangsan and Ulsan fault systems were extracted through aerial photograph interpretation in the southeastern part of Korean Peninsula. Lineaments can be classified into five ranks on the basis of certainty and divided by curvatures. Mean strikes of all lineament by aerial photograph interpretation is dominant in NS ~N05$^{\circ}$E direction along the Ulsan fault system and Nl5-20$^{\circ}$E direction along the Yangsan fault system respectively. The curvature of lineament around Yangsan Fault is different from around the Ulsan Fault system, the former shows that straight lineament is dominant but the latter curved lineaments are dominant. It indicates that the Quaternary faults around Ulsan Fault would be appeared as reverse fault.

  • A holographic iverse filter has been used for optical image deblurring by modeling the PSF(point spread function)of blurred system. This paper presents the optical image restoration of an accidentally blurred photograph by using a simgle inverse filter which is obtained from a blurrec PSF by analyzing the Fourier spectrum of the supposely defocused photograph itself. The filter, a positive transparency having gamma of 2, has amplitude and phase informations simulatneously.

  • This article explores the photographic work of North American artist Jeff Wall. While his photographic work has been much discussed in terms of aesthetics and composition highlighting his methodological appropriation of modernist painters such as Eduard Manet and Piet Mondrian, the political aspect of his work remains to be investigated. This article especially unpacks the complicated dialectical relationship between the formal aesthetics and the political nature of his works by visiting his photographic work in the context of contemporary debates on the contradiction and conflicts between aesthetics and politics in photographic form. Ultimately, this article argues that Wall's photograph acquires its political meaning by problematizing the reified social representation of the other in a way in which the materiality and/or otherness of the photographic object is registered within the photographic frame and by representing the violence of the social representation and the un-representability of the object/other.

  • This study was carried out to understand the relationship between orientation of tecto-lineaments obtained from aero-photograph and orientation of discontinuities measured at field for the rock types of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks in Andong area. Total 847 tecto-lineaments were extracted from the aero-photographs and total 1,940 discontinuities including joints, foliations and faults were measured during geologic survey. By using the software DIPS, preferred trends of tecto-lineaments were deduced as N30E-N40E for igneous rocks and N50E-N60E for both sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, while the trends of discontinuities were found as N40E-N50E for igneous rocks, N50E-N80E for sedimentary rocks and N50E-N60E for meta morphic rocks. Even though both orientations for a given rock type showed relatively good agreement in its trend, some discrepancy is also appeared. Since construction safety of geo-structures such as tunnel and slope, etc., is significantly affected by the orientation of discontinuities in rock masses, it is highly recommended to perform a detailed geologic survey as well as an aero-photograph interpretation at a design stage.

  • A photograph used in a film poster summarizes the story of the film that lasts for around two hours. The image must contain a picture that represents the story and text including the title, with various design elements composed in a harmonious way. However, given that a photograph is the most noticeable element in a film poster, this study aims to examine the function, role, and types of a film poster and analyze poster photographs. Currently, there are companies specialized in photography for film posters, but sometimes recognized photographers are commissioned to take a photograph that will be used for a film poster. Hein-kuhn Oh actively produced such photographs in the early and mid-2000s, and this study deals with 'how the photographs recreate the content of the films' focused on three selected photographs taken by him. Also, There were commonalities found between the tree photographs and Oh's personal portrait photographs, which were then analyzed from the photographic aesthetic point of view. The three selected works are: , , and .

  • This purpose of this study was to identify the landscape characteristics of cultural heritage area in Gapgot fortification by performing text analysis of related literature and antique maps. And accumulate modern photograph to investigate the landscape of modern. As a additionally analysis, was examined landscape of Gapgot fortification area using aerial photograph. The results were as follows. First, Gapgot fortification has the historical value as symbolic and practical gateway to Ganghwa island caused by geographical position. And historical culture resources were located in Gapgot fortification area such as through traffic, military facilities. Secondly, According to literature and antique maps, Gapgot fortification area was village and military facilities from Goryeo dynasty. The village and military facilities was expanded with Jinhae pavilion since construct Ganhwa castle. Thirdly, In modern Gapgot fortification area appear consecutive coastal landscape when entry Ganghwa bridge. But, inhibiting elements of landscape should be remedied.

  • Tree height is information that is used as a parameter for variety of tasks related to forests. Specifically, customized topics related to forests such as afforestation map are also used for production. In order to calculate tree height information, a field survey or drawing was using aerial photographs. However, there is a problem that is costing a lot of time and money. Therefore, it was suggested to calculate tree height using aerial photographs taken every two years. Thus, the method for calculating tree heights was validated by unmanned aerial photogrammetry, and tree heights were calculated using outputs generated by unmanned aerial photogrammetry applied to the unmanned aerial photograph and Aerial photograph DB. The comparison of calculated tree heights shows that the measures proposed in this study are efficient. and We expect to improve the usability of aerial photographs DB.

  • In this paper, we develop an interface for aerial photograph platform which consists of a quadrotor and a gimbal using the human body and the head posture. As quadrotors have been widely adopted in many industries such as aerial photography, remote surveillance, and maintenance of infrastructures, the demand of aerial video and photograph has been increasing remarkably. Stick type remote controllers are widely used to control a quadrotor, but this method is not an intuitive way of controlling the aerial vehicle and the camera simultaneously. Therefore, a new interface which controls the serial photograph platform is presented. The presented interface uses the human head movement measured by head-mounted display as a reference for controlling the camera angle, and the human body posture measured from Kinect for controlling the attitude of the quadrotor. As the image captured by the camera is displayed on the head-mounted display simultaneously, the user can feel flying experience and intuitively control the quadrotor and the camera. Finally, the performance of the developed system shown to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the presented interface.
