We first discuss jump discontinuity in higher dimension, and then prove a local convergence theorem for wavelet approximations in higher dimension. We also redefine the concept of Gibbs phenomenon in higher dimension and show that wavelet expansion exhibits Gibbs phenomenon.

The purpose of this theses is to review Hanliu phenomenon, a kind of social and cultural phenomenon, in China around A. D. 2000 in the view of the culture-diffusion theory, and analyze its effect to the fashion style of the new young generation of China. In this theses, Hanliu phenomenon means the enthusiasm of Asian people for Korean mass cultures such as Korean dramas, pop songs and fashions from late 1990's. This research adopts two kinds of methods for analyzing Hanliu phenomenon: a qualitative research method and a quantitative one. As a qualitative research method, we analyzed Hanliu phenomenon with several sources of documentaries and audio-visual materials on it. As a quantitative research method, we conducted a survey of about 100 university students in Beijing for how they feel of korean culture and fashions. The Hanliu phenomenon leads to the popularity of Korean products and the general Korean cultures. Also, it affected the Chinese young generation so much that the Korean fashion becomes popular among them. Its effects to the fashion styles of Chinese youths can be summarized in three factors as follows. Firstly, the fashions of Korean entertainers such as H.O.T hair style and Hip-hop fashion style are widely imitated. Secondly, the preference of Korean fashion products has been widely increased. The number of stores dealing with Korean fashion products has been increased. Finally, Korean culture and products have actively been imitated in China according to the increased popularity of Korean fashion products.

This research was intended to delve into the diversity of life phenomenon and its characteristics. First of all, this research gave real examples to compare the differences in men's health, disease, and longevity in order to confirm the existence of diversity of life phenomenon. In addition, it also studied the process and mechanism of manifestation of life phenomenon, as well as the influence and problems of existing studies' results and implications. The results are as follow. 1. Differences in health, diseases, and longevity were very big and diverse in researches on different races, nations, ages, socioeconomic status, positions, and even (monozygotic) twins. 2. The basic foundation of all organisms is DNA, and environmental factors change DNA methylation and the structure of chromatin by constantly influencing DNA. Due to this, the manifestation, control, and phenotype of DNA change, resulting in diversified life phenomenon. Therefore, it is the environmental factors, not DNA, that has more influence on the diversity of life. 3. Looking at available studies, the most reasonable perspective on human requires focusing on the diversity of life phenomenon, holistic thinking, and reversible change instead of irreversible determinism. Considerable differences in life phenomenon between entities require a change in malformed perspective on life. Public health and medicine deals with live human beings, a more precise and accurate perspective on life is very important. Because management methods of health and disease, such as structure and approaches of medical research, prevention and cure, must be different by life perspectives.

Washboarding is a crucial problem occurring on unpaved roads. This phenomenon involves the formation of ripples on the surface of the unpaved road and causes a critical problem to vehicles and riders. The phenomenon is affected by several parameters, but we focused on the velocity and the size of the rotating body. In the precedent research, we observed that a critical velocity existed for the occurrence of the phenomenon, and the phenomenon's grade was related to the velocity. Therefore, this study, using a discrete element method, aimed to analyze the relation between the velocity and the size of the rotating body for the occurrence of the phenomenon and perform a fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis to determine the correlation between the phenomenon and the period. The study observed that the critical velocity could vary from the velocity and the size of the rotating body, and there was a certain range of frequency for the occurrence of the Washboarding phenomenon.

In this paper, we present an efficient handover method avoiding ping-pong phenomenon in Wireless LAN systems. In order to provide the seamless VoIP service for terminals with mobility in Wireless LAN systems. Since the variation range of the received signal strength of the moving terminals is large, the handover procedure can be started by an instant drop of the signal strength. Then the handover procedure is repeated, which makes ping-pong phenomenon. Since the quality of service of VoIP can be lowered by ping-pong phenomenon, in this paper, we present the necessary condition to avoid the ping-pong phenomenon. Through LAB test, we show that the proposed handover method can provide an seamless service without the ping-pong phenomenon.

The microphonic phenomenon in TV(television) is a phenomenon that a stained pattern locally appears in the screen or moves like waves. This can be observed when audio signal of TV has specific frequencies under loud volume of sound. In this study, microphonic phenomenon has been investigated, and two practical ways of circumventing this has been proposed. Based on modal analysis of several TV parts(Cathod Ray Tube, shadowmask, etc.), it was proved that the microphonic phenomenon is caused by the resonance of the shadow mask. One of the proposed ways to circumvent this phenonenon is increasing the thickness of the frame, the other is removing the middle welding points between the frame and the shadow mask. The effects of these modifications are evaluated by the finite element analysis, and the results show that the magnitude of vibration of shadow mask reduced by 10 - 20dB, which is large enough to provent microphonic phenomenon even under maximum level of sound volume.

In this paper, heaving phenomenon is analyzed by laboratory tests. A laboratory test is consist of building soft clay foundation in plane-strain soil tank, construction of retaining wall, and excavation work. And range of shear strain, and destruction shape about soft clay foundation is compared, and analyzed with results of proposal formula. Using this study, safety factor is suggested for heaving phenomenon in the construction of wall on the soft clay. Actual theory is suggested by this suggested safety factor. There are various proposal formula for heaving phenomenon. For example, Terzaghi & Peck, Tschebotarioff, Bjerrum & Eide(Experience formula) and so on. Terzaghi & Peck's proposal formula is chosen, compared with laboratory test's result and analyzed in this study. A soft clay used in study is assumed homogeneous. A Depth of foundation is enough to observe shear strain by heaving phenomenon. Retaining wall is enough hard not to have vertical displacement.

In this study we investigate the background of UPS output transformer(${\Delta}-Y$) operation on neutral ungrounded system, and perform field experiment of neutral floating-phenomenon for the inter-locked securing of electric facilities and improvement of neutral floating-phenomenon. Experiment results show that a floating-phenomenon occurs when four-pole input-breaker trip and the neutral to earth voltage occurring concurrently is identified as phantom voltage. And the measures for the transient overvoltage that can occur in floating-state also are investigated. As a result, the risk elements of neutral ungrounded method as well as neutral floating-phenomenon are removed by installation of separate solidly-grounded transformer and switching four-pole input-breaker to three-pole input breaker.

This study analyzes the reverse recovery phenomenon of a semi-bridgeless rectifier (SBR) in an inductive power transfer (IPT) system for electric vehicles. Ideally, the reverse recovery phenomenon does not occur in a diode rectifier, however, in practical systems, the reverse recovery phenomenon occurs even when the SBR operates like a diode rectifier due to high operating frequency. Therefore, a practical analysis of operation modes for SBRs is presented in this study, considering the reverse recovery phenomenon, and the requirements for SBR switches are proposed. The analysis results are experimentally verified using a 3.3 [kW] IPT system prototype to which three different types of switches are applied.

As a quantitative research method, we surveyed approximately 100 female students of Beijing university and asked how they feel Korean culture and fashions. The Hanliu phenomenon led to the popularity of Korean products as well as general culture of Korea. Also, it influenced Chinese young generation so much that Korean fashion has become prevailing. Such influence on the street fashion of Chinese youths can be summarized in three factors as follows: First, Korean entertainers' fashion is widely imitated. For example, H.O.T-like hairstyles, hip-hop styles, large heel shoes with boots-cut pants, and long-curled permanent hairstyles have been on among Chinese youths. Second, the preference for Korean fashion products has highly increased. The number of stores dealing with Korean fashion products has increased. Even the 'Kim Hee Seen,' a fashion brand named after a famous Korean actress, was introduced. Finally, Korean culture and products have widely been imitated in China as much as the increasing popularity of Korean fashion products. This study reveals that Hanliu phenomenon is widespread in China, and Chinese youths are largely affected by the fashion styles of Korean entertainers. Also, Korean fashion products are largely imitated and benchmarked in China. Hanliu phenomenon is a big chance to approach the fashion market of China, the largest buying power in the world. To make inroads into the Chinese fashion market, we suggest that we need to have our own brand and to make the most of culture, stars, and Internet in marketing. Also, we need a well-planned strategy for a success in the Chinese fashion market.
