Effects on Phase Noise of QSPK, MQAM, OFDM-QPSK, OFDM-MQAM, and 8-VSB Modulations (QPSK, MQAM, OFDM-QPSK, OFDM-MQAM 및 8-VSB 변조방식에 대한 위상잡음의 영향)

  • In this paper, SER(Symbol Error Rate) variation and effects on SER by phase noise at various frequency offset of the local oscillator in digital communication systems are gerneralyzed for QPSK(Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), MQAM(M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation), OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex)-MQAM, OFDM-QPSK and 8-VSB(Vestigal Side Bands) modulation methods and compared those with the ideal cases, which have no phase noise, through the MATLAB simulation. And the ration between modulation bandwidths and the SER on the various frequency offsets on the above modulation methods have been analyzed for the system requirement of minimum phase noise characteristics. From this study, we have confirmed that the most sensitive modulation method on the phase noise is OFDM-MQAM and that the relatively insensitive method 8-VSB.

Subpixel Shift Estimation in Noisy Image Using Iterative Phase Correlation of A Selected Local Region (잡음 영상에서 국부 영역의 반복적인 위상 상관도를 이용한 부화소 이동량 추정방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a subpixel shift estimation method using phase correlation with a local region for the registration of noisy images. Phase correlation is commonly used to estimate the subpixel shift between images, which is derived from analyzing shifted and downsampled images. However, when the images are affected by additive white Gaussian noise and aliasing artifacts, the estimation error is increased. Thus, instead of using the whole image, the proposed method uses a specific local region that is less affect by noises. In addition, to improve the estimation accuracy, iterative phase correlation is applied between selected local regions rather than using a fitting function. the restricted range is determined by analyzing the maximum peak and the two adjacent values of the inverse Fourier transform of the normalized cross power spectrum. In the experiments, the proposed method shows higher accuracy in registering noisy images than the other methods. Thus, the edge-sharpness and clearness in the super-resolved image is also improved.

  • Morphotropic tetragonal and rhombohederal phase boundary(MPB) in PZT system was calculated and the effect of mechanical stress and electric field on the MPB was examined using phenomenological thermodynamic theory proposed by Devonshire. Mechanical stress and electric field was calculated to change free energies of phases and shift MPB. The stable composition range of the phase, of which spontaneous strain and spontaneous polarization aligned to the direction of tensile stress or electirc field, was expanded.

Optimum Convolutional Error Correction Codes for FQPSK-B Signals

  • The optimum convolutional error correction codes for recently standardized Feher-patented quadrature phase-shift keying (FQPSK-B) modulation are proposed. We utilize the continuous phase modulation characteristics of FQPSK-B signals for calculating the minimum Euclidean distance of convolutional coded FQPSK-B signal. It is shown that the Euclidean distance between two FQPSK-B signals is proportional to the Hamming distance between two binary data sequence. Utilizing this characteristic, we show that the convolutional codes with optimum free Hamming distance is the optimum convolutional codes for FQPSK-B signals.

  • In the automatic transmission using planetary gear there exists nonlinearities due to the finite difference between gear ratios, which yield torque hole during shift and influence on the ride quality and life of clutch. Based on the reaction carrier and converter turbine speed sliding functions are defined. Nonlinear closed-loop control laws are derived using them. Computer simulation shows that the closed loop design is better than the open loop design and semi-closed loop design.

  • Variations in the amplitude and phase distributions of an incident Gaussian beam are derived analytically when it propagates through a photorefractive crystal in the presence of another strong beam and resulting photorefractive grating that is phase shifted by other than 90.deg. relative to the intensity grating. In the presence of the photorefractive grating the beam is shown to propagate along a straight line in a new direction with an increased wave number.

  • 본 논문은 이동DAB(mobile digital audio broadcasting)를 위한 새로운 위상보상형 PSK 디지털 위상변복조방식 (phase compensated-phase shift keying : PC-PSK)을 연구한 것이다. PC-PSK는 송신기 및 수신기 안테나의 흔들림, 위상이 불안정한 채널특성 및 증폭기의 비선형적인 AM/PM 특성 등으로 인하여 위상오류가 발생하여 환경에 대해 우수한 견실성(robustness)를 가진다. 일종의 시간다이버스티 방식에 의한 벡타 합성의 PC-PSK는 최대 $+90^{\circ}$ 사이의 위상오류를 보상한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제안된 본 방식이 QPSK에 비해 우수한 위상오류 보상특성이 있음을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents a shearographic technique for measuring in-plane strains. During the measurement, the test object is illuminated alternately with two laser beams, symmetrically with respect to the viewing direction. Employing a phase shift technique, the phase distributions due to object deformation for each beam are obtained separately. The difference of the two phase distributions depicts the derivative of in-plane surface displacements. The technique is equivalent to a system of many strain gages.

  • In this paper, we propose a new opto-digital object recognition system which has rotation, scale, and shift invariant characteristics. The fourier power spectrum of the object image is modified to get shift invariance. The log-polar transform is used for rotation and scale invariance. And the decision of similarities is performed by nonlinear joint transform correlator (NJTC) that can control the ratio of phase and amplitude signals. Experimental verification of th eproposed optical object recognition system is presented.

  • N-channel poly-Si TFT, processed by Solid Phase Crystalline(SPC) on a glass substrate, has been investigated by measuring its electrical properties before and after stressing. It is observed that the threshold voltage shift due to electrical stress varies with various stress conditions. Threshold voltages measured in 1.5um and 3um poly-Si TFT’s are 3.3V, 37V respectively. With the threshold voltage shift, the degradation of transconductance and subthreshold swing is also observed.
