  • As an effective way of response evaluation in structural vibration analysis, the phase vector sum(PVS) method used in shaft torsional vibration analysis is introduced. Basic relation of PVS applicable to structural problem is derived and applied to Diesel engine structures. Concepts of forced phase vector sum (FPVS) and significance level (SL) are proposed to visualize the correlation between excitation orders and vibration modes in the SL map. The maximum responses and SL are compared and reviewed to confirm the validity of the method. It is regarded FPVS is adequate to newly evaluate the structural vibration based on excitation information.

  • In this paper, a new active phase shifter is proposed using a vector sum method, and a unique digital phase control method of the circuit is suggested. The proposed scheme was designed and implemented using a Wilkinson power combiner/divider, a branch line 3 dB quadrature hybrid coupler and variable gain amplifiers (VGAs) using gate FETs(DGFETs). Furthermore, it was also shown that the proposed scheme is more efficient and works properly with the digital phase control method.

  • Motion vector is that comparing a frame between previous frame and current one about how much moved. Using this motion vector, if move the image object of current frame to former frame, it could be corrected to shake from hand and camera shaking. On this thesis, compared efficiency of block matching using SAD(Sum of Absolute Difference) equation as picking out the motion vector, matching using phase correlation, matching using feature point, block matching using bitplane.

  • We propose a 10-GHz 2 × 2 phased-array radio frequency (RF) receiver with an 8-bit linear phase and 15-dB gain control range using 65-nm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. An 8 × 8 phased-array receiver module is implemented using 16 2 × 2 RF phased-array integrated circuits. The receiver chip has four single-to-differential low-noise amplifier and gain-controlled phase-shifter (GCPS) channels, four channel combiners, and a 50-Ω driver. Using a novel complementary bias technique in a phase-shifting core circuit and an equivalent resistance-controlled resistor-inductor-capacitor load, the GCPS based on vector-sum structure increases the phase resolution with weighting-factor controllability, enabling the vector-sum phase-shifting circuit to require a low current and small area due to its small 1.2-V supply. The 2 × 2 phased-array RF receiver chip has a power gain of 21 dB per channel and a 5.7-dB maximum single-channel noise-figure gain. The chip shows 8-bit phase states with a 2.39° root mean-square (RMS) phase error and a 0.4-dB RMS gain error with a 15-dB gain control range for a 2.5° RMS phase error over the 10 to10.5-GHz band.

  • A 60GHz active phase shifter with 65nm CMOS is presented by replacing passive switches in switched-line type phase shifter with active ones. Active-switch phase shifter is composed of active-switch blocks and passive delay network blocks. The active-switch phase shifter design is compact compare with the conventional vector-sum phase shifter. Active-switch blocks are designed to accomplish required input and output impedances whose requirements are different whether the switch is on or off. And passive delay network blocks are composed of lumped L,C instead of normal microstrip line to reduce the size of the circuit. An 1-bit phase shifter is fabricated by TSMC 65nm CMOS technology and measurement results present -4dB average insertion loss and 120 degree phase shift at 65GHz.

  • A reliable fault phase selection algorithm plays a very important role in transmission line protection, Particularly in Extra High Voltage (EHV) networks. The conventional fault phase selection algorithm used the phase difference between positive and negative sequence current excluding load current. But, it is difficult to pick out only fault current since we can not know when a fault occurs and select the fault phase in weak-infeed conditions that dominate zero-sequence current in phase current. The proposed algorithm can select the accurately fault phase using the sum of unit vectors which are calculated by positive-sequence voltage and negative-sequence voltage.

  • This paper proposes a new PWM method to reduce the common mode voltage change in three-level Vienna rectifier. This new proposed PWM method uses medium voltage vector for the three-level Vienna rectifier to determine the sum of three-phase voltage zero, and the common mode voltage variation is decreased. Using the carrier comparison method, the switching function generator for three-level Vienna rectifier has been proposed. The effects of the proposed PWM method have been verified through simulation using the PSIM.

  • Acoustic radiation efficiency is one of the important factors in the prediction of underwater radiated noise of ships. A ship has much equipment to operate successful mission in a ship. Most of equipment is running simultaneously as multi-excitation and becomes the source of underwater radiated noise. In many cases of multi-excitation, phase difference between multi-excitation is not considered. Because vibration response under multi-excitation is the vector sum of each single excitation, acoustic radiation efficiency based on surface velocity field can be affected by phase of excitation. In this study, acoustic radiation efficiency of a plate on air and a stiffened cylindrical model in water under multi-excitation with phase difference is investigated.

  • This paper reviews the research on silicon based phased array system operating from microwave to millimeter wave frequencies. First, the design of phase shifter using CMOS technology is presented. The passive phase shifter is applied to the transmit/receive module from one to 16 channel in a single chip. The 35 GHz 4-element T/R module consumes less than 200 mW both transmit and receive modes. The architecture can extend to 16-channel operating at 44 GHz, thereby improving transmit power and linearity. The Ku-band 2-antenna 4-element receiver was developed using active phase shifter based on vector sum method. It is important to minimize coupling between beams because the chip contains four independent beams. The method of coupling is presented and verified.
