  • This paper presents a simple gain/phase blind compensation algorithm with an automatic gain control (AGC) function for the adoption of the AGC function and compensation for gain/phase imbalances in quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) direct conversion receivers (DCRs). The AGC function is interactively operated with the compensation algorithm for gain/phase imbalances. By detecting the gain sum and difference values between the I-channel and Q-channel, the combined AGC and gain imbalance compensation algorithm provides a simpler DCR architecture.

  • 본 논문에서는 셀룰라 이동통신 시스템에서 BPSK 신호전송시 공통 파일럿 신호가 존재하는 상황에서의 코히어런트 검출을 위한 다운링크 빔포밍 방안을 제안한다. 통화채널과 공통채널의 위상차이를 줄이며 다른유저의 간섭을 줄이기 위해 신호대 간섭비를 기반으로 하는 비용함수와 이를 구하는 방안을 제안한다. 모의실험결과를 통해 제안된 방안이 두 채널간의 위상차이를 줄이고 시변채널에서의 개선된 비트오율 성능을 확인 할 수 있다.

  • Research on calibration of array antenna has become a hot spot in the area of signal processing and it is necessary to obtain the phase mismatch of each antenna channel. This paper presents a new calibration method for an array antenna system. In order to calibrate the phase mismatch of each antenna channel, we used primary synchronization signal (PSS) which exists in LTE downlink frame. Primary synchronization signal (PSS) is based on a Zadoff-Chu sequence which has a good correlation characteristic. By using correlation calculation, we can extract primary synchronization signal (PSS). After extracting primary synchronization signal (PSS), we use it to calibrate and reduce the phase errors of each antenna channel. In order to verify the new array antenna calibration algorithm which is proposed in this paper, we have simulated the proposed algorithm by using MATLAB. The array antenna system consists of two antenna elements. The phase mismatch of first antenna and second antenna is calculated accurately by proposed algorithm in the experiment test. Theory analysis and MATLAB simulation results are shown to verify the calibration algorithm.

  • This paper presents a charge pump used in frequency synthesizer for PHS application. The up/down current mismatch of charge pump has a critical effect on the phase noise and spur performance in frequency synthesizer. Therefore, the mismatch compensation scheme is proposed in this paper. And, the measurement results show that the mismatch can be reduced below 5 %.

  • A model is developed to quantitatively analyze the dilatometry curve of carbon steel for the evaluation of phase fraction during transformation. The effect of anisotropic volume change due to transformation mismatch plasticity as well as carbon enrichment in austenite during the transformation is considered in the developed model. The developed model is applied for the analysis of dilatometry curves of carbon steels. The result shows that considering the anisotropic dilatation is very essential to quantitatively evaluate the phase fraction from the dilatation curve.

위상 고정 루프의 기준 스퍼를 감소시키기 위한 이중 보상 방식 전하 펌프 (A Dual-compensated Charge Pump for Reducing the Reference Spurs of a Phase Locked Loop)

  • The charge pump in a phase-locked loop is a key block in determining reference spurs of the VCO output signal. To reduce reference spurs, the current mismatch in the charge pump must be minimized. This paper presents a dual compensation method to reduce the current mismatch. The proposed charge pump and PLL were realized in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Measured current matching characteristics were achieved with less than 1.4% difference and with the current variation of 3.8% in the pump current over the charge pump output voltage range of 0.35-1.35V at 1.8V. The reference spur of the PLL based on the proposed charge pump was measured to be -71dBc.

A New Islanding Detection Method using Phase-Locked Loop for Inverter-Interfaced Distributed Generators

  • This paper proposes a new islanding detection method for inverter-interfaced distributed generators (DG). To detect islanding conditions, this paper calculates the phase angle variation of the system voltage by using the phase-locked loop (PLL) in the inverter controllers. Because almost all inverter systems are equipped with the PLL, the implementation of this method is fairly simple and economical for inverter-interfaced DGs. The detection time can also be shortened by reducing communication delay between the relays and the DGs. The proposed method is based on the fact that islanding conditions result in the frequency and voltage variation of the islanded area. The variation depends on the amount of power mismatch. To improve the accuracy of the detection algorithm, this paper injects small low-frequency reactive power mismatch to the output power of DG.

저역 통과 필터 불일치를 포함한 직접 변환 수신기의 I/Q 불균형 보상 기법 (I/Q Imbalance Compensation Method for the Direct Conversion Receiver with Low Pass Filter Mismatch)

  • 무선 통신 시스템의 집적화 및 비용 절감을 위해 복잡한 필터를 사용하는 헤테로다인 수신기 대신 직접 변환 수신기가 재조명되고 있다. 이에 따라 직접 변환 수신기의 성능 저하 요인을 개선하기 위한 방법 중 하나로 I/Q 불균형 문제, 즉 실수부와 허수부의 진폭, 위상 불일치 개선을 위한 연구가 진행되었다. 그러나 기존 협대역 시스템 중심의 연구에서 크게 고려하지 않아도 되었던 저역 통과 필터의 불일치 문제가 통신 시스템의 광대역화 추세에 따라 직접 변환 수신기의 I/Q 불균형 현상에 심각한 영향을 미칠 수 있게 되었다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 10MHz의 광대역 신호를 발생시켜 중심 주파수로부터 각각 ${\pm}8MHz$로 이동시켜 필터 불일치에 의한 영향이 주파수 선택적으로 나타남을 확인하고, 기존의 I/Q 불균형 모델링에서 주로 다루었던 진폭, 위상 불일치에 더하여 필터 불일치 모델링을 추가하였다. 또한 각 불일치 요소를 제거하기 위한 보상 방법을 제시하였다. 모의실험을 통해, 제안한 I/Q 불균형 보상기는 필터 불일치가 존재하는 상황에서 주파수에 따른 신호 왜곡의 차이를 보상함을 확인하였다.

  • An active Balun is designed for RFID reader at 2.45GHz. The Balun is integrated inside the receiver, then the LNA and mixer can be connected. The unbalanced LNA output signal is transformed to a balanced signal at the input mixer The RF mixer and LO mixer, by using this balun. The Balun provided a balanced signal with two output stage, gain mismatch is 0.116dB. The phase show a good behavior with $163.918^{\circ}$,$-16.609^{\circ}$. The phase mismatch is about $0.527^{\circ}$. The tight difference between the gain and phase on each brancd, is because of the used capacitor and integrated inductor and the other parasitic element inside the balun.

  • The 765(㎸) transformer is operated using two parallel tanks because of its high capacity. The protective relay (61) for the current phase balance of a 765(㎸) transformer would misoperate by excessively, circulation current of each tanks caused by a mismatch of ULTC Tap. In this paper, the phenomenon was analyzed, and the setting rules of relay for bank protection are studied. The result of analysis is verified by the simulation of 765(㎸) transformer with the Power Systems Computer Aided Design(PSCAD). Thereby an appropriate setting rule of the current phase balance relay is recommended.
