  • Transmission signal in wireless environment receives a signal in which a source signal, interference, and noise are mixed. The goal of this study is to estimate the desired signal from the received signal. In this paper, we have studied a method correctly estimating a target in spatial by modified beamformer method. The modified bemaformer uses an adaptive array antenna and perturbation matrix to obtain the optimal weight, and estimate the desired signal by radiating the beam in spatial. We estimate a desired signal of the target by improving resolution with the modified beamformer method which does not have complicated calculation amount. Through simulation, we compare and analyze the modified beamformer method and the MUSIC method with good resolution. In result of simulation, we showed that modified beamformer method has better resolution of 10degree than classical beamformer method and showed similar performance as the MUSIC method. The resolution of this paper was estimated to be about 5 degrees.

  • We reviewed controllers with a time delay estimation in this paper. Time delay control (TDC) and sliding mode control (SMC) are well known robust control schemes. Basically, the TDC has a main characteristic called a time delay estimation from which we can estimate the total uncertainty of a system. . The TDC causes the stick-slip in the case of systems with a friction. The so-called TDCSA which are short for TDC with switching action was developed to reduce the stick-slip. The TDC has the additional switching action term in the TDC structure. In the other hand, the SMC dose not have a time delay estimation but instead it can estimate the system uncertainty through the switching action. The SMC has a difficulty to estimate the total uncertainty of a system because it does not have a time delay estimation. In order to solve the difficulty, some control schemes were developed. Among them, we need to focus our attention on two control schemes: SMCPE and SMCTE, which are short for sliding mode control with a perturbation estimation and sliding mode control with a time delay estimation, respectively. In this paper, we analyzed and compared the characteristic of above three controllers. Even though the motives for the development of three control schemes are different, three control schemes have much in common in terms of their controller structures.

  • Based on the elegant properties of the spectral norm and Thompson metric, we firstly give two perturbation estimates for the positive definite solution of the nonlinear matrix equation $$X-\sum^m_{i=1}A^{\ast}_iX^{\delta_i}A_i=Q(0<|{\delta}_i|<1)$$ which arises in an optimal interpolation problem.

  • The paper presents an intelligent time series model to predict uncertain electricity market price in the deregulated industry environment. Since the price of electricity in a deregulated market is very volatile, it is difficult to estimate an accurate market price using historically observed data. The parameter of an intelligent time series model is obtained based on the simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (SPSA). The SPSA is flexible to use in high dimensional systems. Since prediction models have their modeling error, an error compensator is developed as compensation. The SPSA based intelligent model is applied to predict the electricity market price in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) electricity market.

  • This paper presents a robust adaptive control method using model reference control strategy against autonomous robot systems with random friction nature. We approximate a nonlinear robot system model by means of a feedback linearization approach to derive nominal control law. We construct a Least Square (LS) based observer to estimate friction dynamics online and then represent a perturbed system model with respect to approximation error between an actual friction and its estimation. Model reference based control design is achieved to implement an auxiliary control in order for reducing control error in practice due to system perturbation. Additionally, we conduct theoretical study to demonstrate stability of the perturbed system model through Lyapunov theory. Numerical simulation is carried out for evaluating the proposed control methodology and demonstrating its superiority by comparing it to a traditional nominal control method.

  • In this paper, we investigate a signal typing on the basis of visual impression of distinctive spectrogram. Pathological voices are classified into signal type 1, 2, 3, or 4 to estimate perturbation parameters and to mark perceptual rating based on Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice (CAPE-V). The results suggest that perturbation analysis can be applied to only type 1 and 2 signals and the perceptual ratings of overall grade increase with each signal type, overall. A good inter-rater reliability is showed among three raters. We recommend that pathological voices should be marked the signal typing and CAPE-V, together, to definitely describe the characteristics of pathological voices.

  • A class of systems of singularly perturbed convection diffusion type equations with integral boundary conditions is considered. A numerical method based on a finite difference scheme on a Shishkin mesh is presented. The suggested method is of almost first order convergence. An error estimate is derived in the discrete maximum norm. Numerical examples are presented to validate the theoretical estimates.

  • We have reviewed three different techniques to estimate molecular cloud mass, and discussed the uncertainties involved. We found that determination of the most important parameter, the $^{13}CO$ abundance, is not very sensitive to the real LTE conditions, and that any possible error in deriving LTE column density may not introduce an error in the total gas column density, as far as the visual extinction is established for the object cloud. The virial technique always endows the largest mass estimate as there are several uncertainties, even if the cloud is in virial equilibrium. The strong indicator of the cloud perturbation is the centroid velocity dispersion. The mass using CO luminosity is based on the empirical law, but weakly dependent on the virial assumption, thus it still gives a larger mass estimate. The mass discrepancy is likely to be inevitable, and a factor of two or three difference between mass estimates could easily be attributed to the uncertainties mentioned above. The LTE mass estimate may be the most reliable one if we use the relation visual extinction and $^{13}CO$ column density of the object cloud, and the intercept is included.

  • We have considered the study of local influence for smoothing parameter estimates in nonparametric regression model. Practically, generalized cross validation(GCV) does not work well in the presence of data perturbation. Thus we have proposed local influence measures for GCV estimates and examined effects of diagnostic by above measures.
