In simultaneous interpreting, if the syntactic structure of the source language and the target language are very different, interpreters have to wait before being able to reformulate the source text segments into a meaningful utterance in target language. It is inevitable to adapt the target language structure to that of the source language so as not to unduly increase the memory load and to minimize the pause. While such adaptation enables simultaneous interpretating, it results in damaging the perspective coherence of the text. Discovering when such perspective coherence is impaired, and how the problem can be relieved, will enable interpreters to enhance their performance. This paper analyses the reasons for perspective coherence damage by looking at some examples of German-Korean simultaneous interpreting.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in electroencephalogram (EEG) coherence and brain wave activity for first-person perspective action observation (1AO) and third-person perspective action observation (3AO) of healthy subjects. Methods: Thirty healthy subjects participated in this study. EEG was simultaneously recorded during the Relax period, the 1AO, and the 3AO, with event-related desynchronization (ERD) and coherence connectivity process calculations for brain wave (alpha, beta and mu) rhythms in relation to the baseline. Results: Participants showed increased coherence in beta wave activity in the frontal and central areas (p<0.05), during the 1AO using right-hand activity. Conversely, the coherence of the alpha wave decreased statistically significantly decreased in the frontocentral and parieto-occipital networks during the observation of the 1AO and the 3AO. The ERD values were larger than 40% for both central regions but were slightly higher for the C4 central region. The high relative power of the alpha wave during 1AO and 3AO was statistically significantly decreased in the frontal, central, parietal, and occipital regions. However, the relative power of the beta wave during 1AO and 3AO was statistically significantly increased in the parietal and occipital regions. Especially during 1AO, the relative power of the beta wave in the C3 area was statistically significantly increased (p<0.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that 1AO and 3AO action observations are relevant to modifications of specific brain wave coherence and ERD values. EEG cortical activity during action observation may contribute to neural reorganization and to adaptive neuroplasticity in clinical intervention.
Stochastic phenomena induce us to construct a probability model and structure our thinking; corresponding models help us to understand and interpret the reality. They in turn equip us with tools to recognize, reconstruct and solve problems. Therefore, various implications in terms of methodology as well as epistemology naturally flow from different adoptions of models for probability. Right from the basic scenarios of different perspectives to explore reality, students are occasionally exposed to misunderstanding and misinterpretations. With realistic examples a multi-faceted image of probability and different interpretation will be considered in mathematical modelling activities. As an exploratory investigation, mathematical modelling activity for probability learning was elaborated through semiotic analysis. Especially, the coherence structure in mathematical modelling discourse was reviewed form a semiotic perspective. The discourses sampled from group activities were analyzed on the basis of semiotic perspectives taxonomical coherence relations.
A phase delay spectrum model towards the representation of spatial coherence of stochastic wind fields is proposed. Different from the classical coherence functions used in the spectral representation methods, the model is derived from the comprehensive description of coherence of fluctuating wind speeds and from the thorough analysis of physical accounts of random factors affecting phase delay, building up a consistent mapping between the simulated fluctuating wind speeds and the basic random variables. It thus includes complete probabilistic information of spatial stochastic wind fields. This treatment prompts a ready and succinct scheme for the simulation of fluctuating wind speeds, and provides a new perspective to the accurate assessment of dynamic reliability of wind-induced structures. Numerical investigations and comparative studies indicate that the developed model is of rationality and of applicability which matches well with the measured data at spatial points of wind fields, whereby the phase spectra at defined datum mark and objective point are feasibly obtained using the numerical scheme associated with the starting-time of phase evolution. In conjunction with the stochastic Fourier amplitude spectrum that we developed previously, the time history of fluctuating wind speeds at any spatial points of wind fields can be readily simulated.

It is significant to construct deterministic measurement matrices with easy hardware implementation, good sensing performance and good cryptographic property for practical compressed sensing (CS) applications. In this paper, a deterministic construction method of bipolar chaotic measurement matrices is presented based on binary sequence family (BSF) and Chebyshev chaotic sequence. The column vectors of these matrices are the sequences of BSF, where 1 is substituted with -1 and 0 is with 1. The proposed matrices, which exploit the pseudo-randomness of Chebyshev sequence, are sensitive to the initial state. The performance of proposed matrices is analyzed from the perspective of coherence. Theoretical analysis and simulation experiments show that the proposed matrices have limited influence on the recovery accuracy in different initial states and they outperform their Gaussian and Bernoulli counterparts in recovery accuracy. The proposed matrices can make the hardware implement easy by means of linear feedback shift register (LFSR) structures and numeric converter, which is conducive to practical CS.

In this paper, a hidden surface removal algorithm that generates a perspective view of three space plane-faced objects using scan line coherence is proposed. In particular, the proposed algorithm deals with hidden surface elimination of penetrating objects by using the optimum span division method with minimum test for priority test of segments. Also, a hidden surface redmoval method for representing sectional view of solids by using boolean difference is described.
The purpose of this study is to propose cognitive ecological effects of fractal patterns in space design. This study investigated the perception and cognition problems regarding landscape patterns showing fractal properties from the cognitive perspective instead of the traditional speculative approach. In particular, the researcher has verified that fractal geometry theory and fractal pattern concept provide insight in space aesthetic values and cognitive effects. Research results are as follows. First, most environmentally-friendly fractal urban forms provide cognitive connectivity. In particular, this space provides a positive emotional response and preference to humans and displays self-organized complexity. This study found that such complexity of space form has characteristics corresponding to parallel cognitive structures of the human brain. Simultaneously, the researcher suggests that the fractal landscape pattern is an alternative for stiff and homogenized modern space. Second, fractal patterns provide hierarchical connectivity within the brain through continuous difference and repetition. In particular, self-similarities of fractal patterns administer significant visual grouping and coherence in human perception. It can be determined whether scaling coherence facilitates easier organization in cognitive organization. Third, fractal patterns in space design provide the basic method for achieving the connection between concept, construction, and urban factors. As a result, the researcher has suggested that scale distribution of geometrical factors, such as fractal patterns, an be a design method to connect various space typologies.

This paper develops an algorithm for efficiently computing the intersection points between rays and an object in a simulated radiograph. This algorithm allows interactive calculation of simulated radiographs for very complex parts. It needs a geometric model of a part which is approximated by a bounding surface made up of flat triangular polygons. Since rays have a point source, a perspective transformation is applied to convert the point source problem to one that has parallel rays. This permits to use a scan-line algorithm which utilizes the coherence of the grid of rays for the intersection calculations. The efficiency of the algorithm is shown by comparing compute time of the intersection calculations to a commercial software that computes each ray intersection independently.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of watching 'Real Man' program on university student s' military image and security awareness. For the purpose of the study, 392 university students in Seoul, Chungcheong and Jeolla were selected. With the collected data, factorial analysis, t-test, frequency analysis, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis were performed through SPSS 21.0. First, according to personal characteristic and watching degree, there were differences in military image and security awareness. There were significant differences in rationality, coherence, familiarity, violence, authority among sub factors of military image and in perspective about policy towards North Korea, persepectives about North Korea, military threats of North Korea, security will among sub factors of security awareness. Second, military image of university students who watched 'Real Man' had an influence on security awareness. Military image had an meaningful influence on perspective about North Korea, military threats of North Korea, security will among sub factors of security awareness.
Objectives: This study aims to identify the psychosocial factors affecting on happiness among the general population in South Korea. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using the multiple-stratified random sampling on the Korea Census of 2005. In October 2009, investigators conducted 15-minute face-to-face interviews with 1,500 South Korean volunteers ranging from 30 to 69 years old with no history of cancer. The questionnaire included socio-demographics, stress levels, coping strategies, social support, SOC, and happiness levels. Results: The multivariate analysis identified that married persons were more likely to be happy than those who were not married, respondents who had a higher score of stress and SOC were less likely to be happy, and those who had a higher score of social support from family were more likely to be happy. Conclusions: Interventions designed to increase happiness may need to include activities to control stress and promote social support from family.
