  • In this paper, the model for personal navigation system using low-cost inertial sensors and error compensation method with GPS are proposed. Simulation is accomplished for the performance test. WNS(Walking Navigation System) is a kind of personal navigation using the number of a walk, stride and azimuth. Because the accuracy of these variables determines the navigational performance, computational methods have been investigated. The step is detected using the motion pattern by walking motion, stride is determined by neural network and azimuth is calculated with gyro´s output.   • This paper introduces a sea environmental monitoring system for measuring pH,DO, level and temperature. This system is developed using a personal computer(PC) and multiple single board computers. A PC communicates with the single board computers by awireless communication method and transfers data to another personal computer for processing data by a modem. The values of pH,Do,level and temperature, which are basic components to estimate sea environment, are real-timely processed in the single board computer at each stations, and transferred to the monitoring PC. These data are graphically shown on the PC monitor and logged on the data processing system in the form of file. Using the wire and wireless communication system, user can constantly analyze the acquired data and detect the sea contamination.

  • The aim of the research is to develop a PC based courseware which is programed to drafts clothing patterns. The pattern making are numerically formulized. The of the program were as follows;1. Menu and instructions are displayed in Korean Language. 2. Easy step-by-step instructions explaining how to draw basic pattern and design pattern. 3. Low cost personal computer and general purpose printer are used. The source program was written in C-language and compiled using Turbop C. The Bezier spline is used to draw curves of pattern and to display Korean characters and pattern on same screen simultaneoulsy, Korean characters are drawn graphically. The low cost IBM Personal Computer or compatibles with Hercules Graphic Card is required to run this grogram.

  • This paper describe an interactive video object segmentation tool which can be used to generate MPEG-4 video object planes for multimedia broadcasting and enables content based functionalities. In order to apply these functionalities, each frame of video sequence should be represented in terms of video objects. Semiautomatic segmentation can be thought of as a user-assisted segmentation technique. A user can initially mark objects of interest around the real object boundaries. Then the user-guided and selected objects are continuously separated from the unselected areas though time evolution in the image sequences. We proposed method shows very promising result and this encourages the development of object based video editing system.

Investigation and Analysis of Interruption Characteristics for Industrial Customers

  • Electric power is an important element in any modern economy. The availability of a reliable power supply at a reasonable cost is important for the economic growth and development of a country. Electric power utilities throughout the world therefore strive to meet customer demands economically with high quality and reliability. As the power industry moves towards open competition, therefore, there has been a call for a methodology by which to evaluate power system reliability through the use of customer interruption characteristics. This paper presents the results of an investigation and analysis of interruption characteristics of an industrial customer in Korea. This study used a direct visit survey to determine the investigation and analysis of electric service quality and the characteristics of industrial customers in Korea. A customer survey conducted throughout Korea via personal interviews of 660 sample customers is presented here. Variation according to characteristics of interruption such as duration, time of day, frequency and day of interruption was also investigated

  • Contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) including endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and pharmaceuticals and personal care product chemicals (PPCPs) have recently received more attention because of their occurrence in water bodies and harmful impacts on human health and aquatic organisms. Triclosan is widely used as a synthetic broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent due to its antimicrobial efficacy. However, triclosan detected in aquatic environment has been recently considered as one of CECs, because of the potential for endocrine disruption, the formation of toxic by-products and the development of cross-resistance to antibiotics in aquatic environment. This comprehensive review focuses on the regulations, toxicology, fate and transport, occurrence and removal efficiency of triclosan. Overall, this review aims to provide better understanding of triclosan and insight into application of biological treatment process as an efficient method for triclosan removal.

  • Digital FHR monitoring system based on the personal computer combined wi th the digital signal processing (DSP) board was implemented. The DSP board acquires and digitally processes ultrasound fetal Doppler signal for digital rectification, envelope detection, autocorrealtion function calculation and its peak position detection. The personal computer interfaced with the DSP board is in charge of graphic display, hardcopy, data taransmission and on-line analysis of fetal heart rate change including on-line warning system, base-line estmation, acceleration, deceleration and variability. The advantages of PC-DSP based system can be summarized as follows: 1) Minimum hardware realization. 2) Increased flexibility. 3) Total care system.

  • This paper describes a system for measurement and control of a gas flow. In order to measure the flux of gas and control a vavle according to flux, this system was developed. This system is implemented on the personal computer and its environment is developed tool called TMS. This system includes a main program and Tele-Metering Unit for transmitting correcting flow value based on temperature and pressure in flow computer and AD converter for transmitting instantaneous flow rate, temperature and pressure as interface part of personal computer. This system was made by Visual C++ program. Using this system, inspected data for the recognition of transmitting flow value are generated on the screen, file and printer. The activity, reliability of this system was verified on Daegu-Citygas that aids the system for the acquisition of inspected data by realtime application.

Name, Quilt and Transformation Geometry

  • The author has been teaching with an instructional module consisting of many mathematical concepts, based on designs formed by personal names or words to arouse students' interesting in learning mathematics. This module has been growing since it was first used as a supplementary lesson for calculus students. Now it consists of concepts that connect with mathematical topics such as number sense, algebraic thinking, geometry, and statistical reasoning, as well as other subjects such as art and quilt design. With its content we can provide our students the basic mathematical knowledge needed for further study in their own fields. In this article, we will demonstrate the latest development of this instructional module, which makes connections between mathematical knowledge and the design of personal quilt patterns. We will exhibit a 'Quilt of Nations' which consists of the designed quilt blocks of different countries, such as USA, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and others, as well as a quilt design using the abbreviation of this seminar. Then we will talk about how the connections are built, and how to design these mathematically rich, uniquely created, beautifully designed, and personalized quilt block patterns.

유무인 겸용 개인항공기(OPPAV) 개념설계를 위한 구조물 사이징 (Structural Sizing for Optionally Piloted PAV Preliminary Design)

  • Personal air vehicle (PAV) is considered by aviation engineers as a solution to provide fast urban mobility. The purpose of designing a optionally piloted PAV (OPPAV) is to provide an individual air vehicle. The airframe structure is designed with high strength carbon fiber composite to reduce the aircraft weight. This paper presents an overview of sizing process for OPPAV at the conceptual design level. It consists of load analysis, structural sizing and development of efficient design allowable values for composite material. The weight is estimated based on sizing process, including strength and stiffness requirements. The objective of this study is to present a overview of structural sizing procedure and fast tool for preliminary design phases.
