Design and Development of Multi-rotorcraft-based Unmanned Prototypes of Personal Aerial Vehicle

  • The paper presents the design, development and testing activities of the multi-rotorcraft-based unmanned aerial vehicle at the Center for Unmanned System Studies, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. The multi-rotor system was selected as the design stepping stone for future development of personal aerial vehicle prototypes. A step-by-step design program is conducted to study the technology building blocks and critical issues associated with the design, development and operation of personal aerial vehicles. A number of multi-rotor configurations have been investigated providing basic guidelines for developing a stable unmanned aerial platform. The benefit of the presently selected configuration is highlighted and some preliminary testing results are presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 언제 어디서나(유비쿼터스) 빠르게 지정간 수송을 가능하게 해주며 현재 의 자동차를 대체할 수 있는 개인용 항공기, 즉 PAV(personal Air Vehicle)에 대하여 요구 조건을 살펴보고, 기존의 고속 회전익기 개념과 현재 진행 중인 고속회전익기 개발사업을 개괄적으로 검토하여, PAV 적용가능 플랫폼으로서 고속 회전익기 개념 및 기술적 이슈를 탐색하였다.

Tilt-rotor 항공기 동력계통 중량 추정에 대한 상쇄연구 (Trade-off Study of Propulsion Systems Weight Estimation for Tilt-rotor Personal Air Vehicle)

  • This paper presents the trade-off study of conducting a survey of the weights for various kind of propulsion systems installed in the Smart Unmanned Aerial Vehicle TR-100, a tilt-rotor vehicle, which is developed by Korea Aerospace Research Institute, in order to predict the appropriate propulsion system for present and future Personal Air Vehicle, which has single mode and vertical take-off & landing. In order to perform the trade-off study, we set the requirements that the vehicle hovers for 1 hour with 1,000 kg maximum take off weights. In this study, the power systems are classified engine, which uses the fossil fuel - turboshaft engine, piston engine, diesel engine and rotary engine, and electric motor with fuelcell or Li-Ion battery. The results of trade-off study shows the power systems using fossil fuel are superior to using fuelcell or Li-Ion battery for weight of propulsion system. Also turboshaft engine is the best power system for the aspects of system weight, and the nexts are rotary engine, piston engine, diesel engine, electric motor with Li-Ion battery, and electric motor with fuelcell.

무인항공기 사생활 보호 방안 (Privacy Protection from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)

  • 무인항공기에 의한 사생활 침해는 신고를 필요로 하지 않는 소형 무인항공기에 장착된 영상정보처리기기로 인해 발생할 가능성이 크다. 본 논문에서는 무인항공기로부터의 사생활 보호를 위해 사생활 보호 관련 법령 - 개인정보보호법, 정보통신망법 - 등이 무인항공기에 장착된 영상정보처리기기의 이동성을 반영할 수 있도록 보완될 것을 제안한다. 이와 함께, 사생활 침해의 우려가 가장 큰 미신고 소형 무인항공기에 대한 규정을 항공관련 법령에 포함할 것을 제안한다. 또한 피촬영자의 무인항공기 인지 및 촬영된 영상정보에 대한 비식별화 조치 등의 기술적 대응 방안을 제안한다.

  • 드론은 조종사가 직접 항공기에 탑승하지 않고 지상에서 원격장치를 이용하여 무선으로 조종하는 항공기를 말한다. 현재 드론은 실종자 수색과 교통단속 등 경찰장비로 포함되어 활용되고 있다. 사람이 직접 눈으로 보고 수색하는 과정을 광학 성능이 뛰어난 카메라가 대신하며, 비행하며 촬영했던 영상을 이후 재검색할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 하지만, 사법기관에서 규정과 원칙 없이 무분별하게 드론을 운용하여 범죄수사와 수색에 사용한다면 불특정 다수의 개인은 프라이버시와 개인정보 침해를 당할 것이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 현행 드론 운용에 대한 법적 문제와이의 해결 방안에 대하여 논의한다.

  • In this study, the status of global advanced air mobility (AAM) was investigated to derive information and communications technologies (ICTs) that should be prepared according to directions of domestic AAM development. AAM is an urban air traffic system for moving from city to city by electric vertical take-off and landing or personal aircraft. It is expected to establish a three-dimensional air traffic system that can solve ground traffic congestion caused by the rapid global urbanization. With the full-scale commercialization of AAM solutions, high-density air traffic is expected, and with the advent of the personal air vehicle (PAV), the flight space usage is expected to expand. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a safe AAM service through early research on core ICTs for autonomous flight.

Opportunities for construction site monitoring by adopting first personal view (FPV) of a drone

  • Understanding the current status of a construction project is necessary to achieve successful on-site management. Real-time information delivery is a major concern for construction industry practitioners in order to expedite decisions and discussions. We propose the use of a first personal view (FPV) system of a quadcopter drone as a tool for monitoring on-site status and communicating between construction participants. The most important function of the drone FPV system is its ability to visually monitor construction site situations in real time. An on-site management system process is developed, verified, and applied to several construction work tasks after determining factors that affect efficient construction management. The proposed system is expected to assist the construction manager in achieving high efficiency.

Use of unmanned aerial systems for communication and air mobility in Arctic region

  • The current state of telecommunications infrastructure in the Arctic does not allow providing a wide range of required services for people, businesses and other categories, which necessitates the use of non-traditional approaches to its organization. The paper proposes an innovative approach to building a combined communication network based on tethered high-altitude platform station (HAPS) located at an altitude of 1-7 km and connected via radio channels with terrestrial and satellite communication networks. Network configuration and composition of telecommunication equipment placed on HAPS and located on the terrestrial and satellite segment of the network was justified. The availability of modern equipment and the distributed structure of such an integrated network will allow, unlike existing networks (Iridium, Gonets, etc.), to organize personal mobile communications, data transmission and broadband Internet up to 100 Mbps access for mobile and fixed subscribers, rapid transmission of information from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). A substantiation of the possibility of achieving high network capacity in various paths is presented: inter-platform radio links, subscriber radio links, HAPS feeder lines - terrestrial network gateway, HAPS radio links - satellite retransmitter (SR), etc. The economic efficiency of the proposed solution is assessed.

  • Recently, unmanned aerial vehicle, also known as drone is being used in variety of areas. Previously drones are used as military purposes. After unmanned technology went abroad to civil, drones are used as multipurpose such as hobby, business and other more. Even though drones are very useful in many areas, problems such as safety and personal privacy infringement raised new social issues. In this thesis it will analyze and suggest solutions to the social problems of personal privacy infringement which occurred by drone filming. This thesis will also suggest that new law of drone safety must legislate quickly. Drone is exploration of new filed. Varies of new technology help to grow drone industries. Drone is able to complete tasks which are impossible or very difficult to do. To constantly grow drone industries, people must have solutions for problems of drone. If people can figure out solutions problem of drone which introduced by this thesis, value of drone will grow even more.

무인기 개발과 범죄, 사이버 범죄, 테러 활용 가능성과 대응방안 (The probable use of UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) in crime, cybercrime, and terrorism and responses)

  • 2015년 3월 북한의 무인기가 잇따라 발견되었으며, 세계 주요 국가 역시 지속적으로 활발하게 무인기를 연구개발하고 있다. 이른바 드론이라고 불리는 민간용 무인기가 점차 상용화되면서 최근에는 취미생활로 드론을 활용하는 사례가 빈번해지고 있다. 이처럼 무인기가 점차 보편화 일상화됨에 따라 여러 긍정적인 활용가능성과 함께 범죄와 같은 부정적인 부문에 대한 드론활용 가능성에 대한 우려 역시 제기된다. 예를 들면, 드론에 해킹도구를 설치하여 네트워크에 침투할 수 있다면 개인정보 절취 혹은 공공기관 해킹 등은 새로운 국면으로 전환하게 될 것으로 예상되어진다. 인터넷 사용자와 사이버 공간이 급팽창하면서 국내외 사이버공간에서의 해킹, 공격 등의 범죄문제는 그 질적, 양적 심각성이 날로 악화되고 있다. 반면에, 그에 따른 방어는 한계를 가지고 있다. 특히, 한국은 다른 국가에 비해 상대적으로 빠른 인터넷 기술의 발달과 네트워크 사용의 확장에도 불구하고, 이에 대응하는 사이버 보안은 발전이 더딘 측면이 있어 사이버 공격에 매우 취약하다. 이와 관련하여 이 논문은 현재 무인기의 종류 및 특성과 개발연구방향을 알아보고, 무인기를 활용한 가능한 기술이나 정보 절취 등의 무인기 관련 사이버 범죄와 이에 대한 대응방법 등에 관하여 살펴보고자 한다.
