  • This paper deals with the cogging torque analysis of a BLDC Motor, which has the axial displacement of its rotor. In order to improve the torque performance of the BLDC motor, Brushless motor is commonly designed to minimize its cogging torque. Therefore, a skewed model is used to reduce the cogging torque. However, even though the rotor or stator is skewed, the cogging torque could be increased by the axial displacement of the rotor, which occurs when the BLDC Motor is manufactured. Therefore, this paper investigates the effect of the axial displacement of the rotor on the cogging torque. In order to investigate the effect, an analysis method, which is 3D-EMCN in combination with 2D-FEM, is proposed to analyze the cogging torque of the BLDC motor with the axial displacement of its rotor, and the result of the analysis is verified by comparison with the experimental result.

  • This paper presents a result of the mechanical noise and vibration analysis as well as the electrical characteristics analysis of the permanent magnet(PM) motor according to the driving method that is Brushless DC(BLDC) drive and Brushless AC(BLAC) drive. To do that, the characteristics of the PM motor, which have the same output power but different driving method, are investigated. At that time, the characteristics such as torque, torque ripple and flux density, and so on, are obtained by finite element analysis(FEA). Besides, noise and vibration are obtained by spectrum analysis. The magnetic noise is defined as noise generated from vibrations due to electromagnetic excitation force. In this paper, the electromagnetic excitation force is analyzed and design process of noise reduction is proposed. Finally, The validity of the analysis results is verified by test.

  • 개선된 지령치 변경부를 가지는 전류제어기는 과도 상태에서의 빠른 응답성과 정상 상태에서의 고정밀도를 가진다. 이 논문에서는 개선된 지령치 변경부가 빠른 과도 응답성을 위하여 동기 PI 제어기를 사용하였다. 전류 제어기의 과도 응답특성은 DC 링크 제어 전압의 부족으로 인해 높은 역기전력 영역에서 많은 문제를 가지고 있다. 이 논문은 지령 전압과 한계 전압을 가지는 개선된 지령치 변경부를 제안하였다.

  • 본 논문은 1-Hz의 낮은 고정자 전류 주파수에서도 동작하는 순수적분 기반의 자속추정을 위한 온라인 전류측정 오차 보상방법을 제안한다. 오프셋 전류와 변환이득오차에 의한 역상분 전류 성분은 상태관측기를 이용하여 제거하고, 동시에 변환이득오차에 의한 역상분 전류는 동기좌표계에서 영구자석에 의하여 발생된 q축 자속을 기준모델에 의한 값과 추정된 자속에 의한 값 사이의 차이에 의하여 보상한다. 이 보상기는 PI제어기를 이용하여 두 값 사이의 오차가 0이 되도록 제어한다. 또한 적분기 초기값 오차 및 관측기의 전동기 상수 오차에 의한 잔여오차 보상방법도 제안하였다. 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 1.1-kW 영구자석형 동기전동기(PMSM)에 제안된 보상 방법을 구현하여 다양한 실험을 수행하였다.

  • An improved stationary frame-based digital current control technique for a permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motor is presented. Generally, the stationary frame current controller is known to provide the advantage of a simple implementation. However, there are some unavoidable limitations such as a steady-state error and a phase delay in the steady-state. On the other hand, in the synchronous frame current regulator, the regulated currents are dc quantities and a zero steady-state error can be obtained through the integral control. However, the need to transform the signals between the stationary and synchronous frames makes the implementation of a synchronous frame regulator complex. Although the PI controller in the stationary frame gives a steady-state error and a phase delay, the control performance can be greatly improved by employing the exact decoupling control inputs for the back EMF, resulting in an ideal steady-state control characteristics irrespective of an operating condition as in the synchronous PI decoupling controller. However, its steady-state response may be degraded due to the inexact cancellation inputs under the parameter variations. To improve the control performance in the stationary frame, the disturbance is estimated using the time delay control. The proposed scheme is implemented on a PM synchronous motor using DSP TMS320C31 and the effectiveness is verified through the comparative simulations and experiments.

  • Slotless Permanent magnet Brushless DC Motor(PM BLDC) with the characteristics of high speed and high power density has been more widely used in industrial and automatic machine. Generally, PM BLDC meter is necessary that the three Hall-ICs evenly be distributed around the stator circumference in case of the 3 phase motor. The Hall-ICs are set up in this motor to detect the main flux from the rotor. therefore the output signal from Hall-ICs is used to drive a power transistor to control the stator winding current. However, instead of using three Hall-ICs, if only we used one Hall-IC, we estimate information of the others phase in sequence through a revolving rotor. This paper identified the characteristics and performance by using one Hall-IC for the 3 phase PM BLDC whose six stator and two rotor designed.

  • The constraint conditions are the stator voltage and the stator current to operate the motor in the flux weakening region. The maximum current is limited by the inverter current rating and the machine thermal rating. Given DC link voltage to control the motor in the flux weakening the maximum voltage is determined by considering PWM strategy, dead time, voltage drop of the inverter switching device, and the margin of the voltage for current forcing. In this paper, the new method to determine the available maximum voltage is derived by the quantitative method and by considering the factors of the voltage drop. The proposed method to determine the maximum voltage is very useful to improve the stability of the motor system and to enlarge the speed operation region in the flux weakening operation. Therefore the utility of the maximum voltage is increased.

단상 BLDC 전동기의 코깅토크 저감을 위한 고정자 형상 최적설계 (Optimal Design of Stator Shape for Cogging Torque Reduction of Single-phase BLDC Motor)

  • This paper proposes the optimal design of stator shape for cogging torque reduction of single-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor with asymmetric notch. This method applied size and position of asymmetric notches to tapered teeth of stator for single-phase BLDC motor. Which affects the variation of the residual flux density of the permanent magnet. The process of optimal design included the extraction of the sampling point by using Latin Hypercube Sampling(LHS), and involved the creation of an approximation model by using kriging method. Also, the optimum point of the design variables were discovered by using the Genetic Algorithm(GA). Finite element analysis was used to calculate the characteristics analysis and cogging torque. As a result of finite element analysis, cogging torque were reduced approximately 39.2% lower than initial model. Also experimental result were approximately 38.5% lower than initial model. The period and magnitude of the cogging torque were similar to the results of FEA.
