This paper considers a global resolution of kinematic redundancy under inequality constraints as a constrained optimal control. In this formulation, joint limits and obstacles are regarded as state variable inequality constraints, and joint velocity limits as control variable inequality constraints. Necessary and sufficient conditions are derived by using Pontryagin's minimum principle and penalty function method. These conditions leads to a two-point boundary-value problem (TPBVP) with natural, periodic and inequality boundary conditions. In order to solve the TPBVP and to find a global minimum, a numerical algorithm, named two-stage algorithm, is presented. Given initial joint pose, the first stage finds the optimal joint trajectory and its corresponding minimum performance cost. The second stage searches for the optimal initial joint pose with globally minimum cost in the self-motion manifold. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated through a simulation with a 3-dof planar redundant manipulator.

We propose laser scanner sensor system based walking pattern and tracking method of multiple human. This system uses laser scanners sensors and is applicable to wide and crowded area such as hospital and medical care center. The primary objective of this research is to promote the development of robust, repeatable and transferable software for security system that can automatically detect, track and follow people in public area. We developed the method of human identification for this system. Our method is following: 1. Best-walking pattern data are obtained by the help of human position and direction data obtained by laser scanners. 2. Human identification is conducted by calculating the correlation between the step length of walking human. It becomes possible to conduct human identification even in crowded scenes by estimating the movements of waling human' feet are periodic. In the experiment in the station, some effectiveness of this method became clear.
In the present paper, hovering performance analyses of proprotor and helicopter rotor blades were performed by using FLUENT software. As a proprotor, TRAM(Tilt Rotor Aeroacoustic Model) was selected and performance analysis was carried out with mesh adaptation for more elaborate solution. As a helicopter rotor blades, two bladed Caradonna and Tung's rotor and four-bladed BO-105 helicopter rotor blades were selected. In case of Caradonna and Tung's rotor, vortex trajectory was compared with experimental data to inspect the vortex convection capability of the present flow solver. For the final case, performance of BO-105 helicopter rotor blades was investigated and compared with experimental data. After performance analyses of proprotor and helicopter rotors, it was shown that the present solver showed reasonable vortex strength, wake geometry and thurst coefficient distributions. But power coefficient was somewhat overestimated about $10%{\sim}15%$ regard less of mesh adaptation.
Nonlinear normal mode (NNM) vibration, in a nonlinear dual mass Hamiltonian system, which has 6$\^$th/ order homogeneous polynomial as a nonlinear term, is studied in this paper. The existence, bifurcation, and the orbital stability of periodic motions are to be studied in the phase space. In order to find the analytic expression of the invariant curves in the Poincare Map, which is a mapping of a phase trajectory onto 2 dimensional surface in 4 dimensional phase space, Whittaker's Adelphic Integral, instead of the direct integration of the equations of motion or the Birkhoff-Gustavson (B-G) canonical transformation, is derived for small value of energy. It is revealed that the integral of motion by Adelphic Integral is essentially consistent with the one obtained from the B-G transformation method. The resulting expression of the invariant curves can be used for analyzing the behavior of NNM vibration in the Poincare Map.

Learning control refers to controllers that learn to improve their performance at executing a given task, based on experience performing this specific task. In a previous work, the authors presented a theory of indirect decentralized learning control based on use of indirect adaptive control concepts employing simultaneous identification and control. This paper extends these results to apply to the indirect repetitive control problem in which a periodic (i.e., repetitive) command is given to a control system. Decentralized indirect repetitive control algorithms are presented that have guaranteed convergence to zero tracking error under very general conditions. The original motivation of the repetitive control and learning control fields was learning in robots doing repetitive tasks such as on an assembly line. This paper starts with decentralized discrete time systems, and progresses to the robot application, modeling the robot as a time varying linear system in the neighborhood of the desired trajectory. Decentralized repetitive control is natural for this application because the feedback control for link rotations is normally implemented in a decentralized manner, treating each link as if it is independent of the other links.

Fault-tolerant gait generation of a hexapod robot with crab walking is proposed. The considered fault is a locked joint failure, which prevents a joint of a leg from moving and makes it locked in a known position. Due to the reduced workspace of a failed leg, fault-tolerant crab walking has a limitation in the range of heading direction. In this paper, an accessible range of the crab angle is derived for a given configuration of the failed leg and, based on the principles of fault-tolerant gait planning, periodic crab gaits are proposed in which a hexapod robot realizes crab walking after a locked joint failure, having a reasonable stride length and stability margin. The proposed crab walking is then applied to path planning on uneven terrain with positive obstacles. i.e., protruded obstacles which legged robots cannot cross over but have to take a roundabout route to avoid. The robot trajectory should be generated such that the crab angle does not exceed the restricted range caused by a locked joint failure.

The appropriate handling of motion artifacts is essential for clinical diagnosis in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In many cases, motion is an inherent part of MR images because it is difficult to control during MR imaging. As the motion in the human body occur in a deformable manner, they are difficult to deal with. This paper proposes a novel detection method for periodically moving regions to produce MR images with less motion artifacts. When the data is acquired by the radial trajectory, the proposed method can extract the deformable region easily using the difference in the modulated sinograms, which have different periodic phase terms. The simulation results applied to the various cases confirmed the good performance of the proposed method.

Repetitive control is a specialized control scheme to track and/or attenuate a periodic reference trajectory and/or disturbance. Most researches about repetitive control have been performed in the frequency domain. Recently, several approaches to deal with repetitive control systems in the state space are developed by representing a q filter as a state-space equation. This paper presents a design method of a repetitive control system in the state space to satisfy $H_{\infty}$ performance. The overall system is composed of a plant, a repetitive controller, and a state-feedback controller, which can be converted to a standard form used in $H_{\infty}$ control. A LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality)-based stability condition is derived for fixed state-feedback gains. Under a given q filter, another LMI condition is derived to improve $H_{\infty}$ performance and is employed to find state-feedback gains by solving an optimization problem. Finally, to verify the feasibility of the proposed method, a numerical example is demonstrated.

This paper describes a robust control scheme for high-speed and long stroke scanning motion of high precision linear motor system consisting of linear motor, air bearing guide and position measurement system using heterodyne interferometer. Nowadays, semiconductor process and inspection of wafer or LCD need high speed and long travel length for their high throughput and extremely small velocity fluctuations or tracking errors. In order to satisfy these conditions, linear motor system are widely used because they have large thrust force and do not need motion conversion mechanisms such as ball screw, rack & pinion or capstan with which the system are burdened. However linear motors have a problem called force ripple. Force ripple deteriorates the tracking performances and makes periodic position errors. So, force ripple must be compensated. To maximize the tracking performance of linear motor system, we propose the control scheme which is composed of a robust control method, Time Delay Controller (TDC) and a feedforward control method, Zero Phase Error Tracking Control (ZPETC) for accurate tracking a given trajectory and an adaptive force ripple compensation (AFC) algorithm fur estimating and compensating force ripple. The adaptive ripple compensation is continuously refined on the basis of tracking error. Computer simulation results based on modeled parameters verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for high-speed, long stroke and high precision scanning motion and show that the proposed control scheme can achieve a sup error tracking performance in comparison to conventional TDC control.
