  • The purpose of this study is (1) to develop a conceptually integrated model of IT capability comprising hierarchically structured lower capabilities, and (2) to investigate the impacts of IT capability on firm performance. To do this, the study defined IT capability as a third-order factor model and identified three conceptual dimensions of IT capability IT resource integrating capability, IT infrastructure flexibility, and IT personnel expertise. The relationships between IT capability and firm performance are assessed with 243 firm level data using LISREL. The results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) demonstrated that the constructs is highly reliable and valid. Further, we found that IT capability not directly but indirectly affects firm performance through the impacts on business processes.

  • Short execution time is the major performance factor for computer systems. This performance factor is directly determined by code quality, which is influenced by the compiler's optimizations. However, a compiler has limitations when optimizing source code due to insufficient information. Thus, if programmers can learn the reasons why a compiler fails to apply optimizations, they can rewrite code that is more easily understood by the compiler, and thus improve performance. In this paper, we propose a compiler that provides a programmer with reasons for failed optimization and recognizes programmer's additional information to obtain better optimization. As a result, we obtain performance improvement, i.e., reducing execution time and code size, by taking advantage of additional optimization opportunities.

  • Window system is an essential component for ventilation, lighting, and thermal environment in buildings. However, window system has the lowest insulation performance and may cause high energy consumptions, if it is not properly designed. Thus, performance of window systems play an important role in built environment. This study proposes a new window systems for balcony, which has double vents and analyses the thermal performance using an intergrated simulation method with Therm 6.1 and Widow 6.1. The result shows higher U-factor than conventional window systems. It is expected that the double vent window system can increase thermal performance and save energy in apartment houses.

  • Structures of steel frame buildings getting vary depending on the development of construction technology. Fire-resistant steel beams and Columns accredited by accreditation bodies from the performance of various fire-resistant coating is applied to the current pillar method is most H-beams. H-beam has been proposed a non-load test specifications in the relevant regulations, its scope of accreditation to be granted without limitation of size H-beams from the performance of the test specification. However, in the case of the rectangular steel structure is to check its performance and to a separate one of the receive acknowledge and so take advantage of the cross-sectional shape factor in this study to test the performance of the fire-resistant structure proposed for standard test specimen.

  • We analyze the performance of code division multiple access (CDMA) system with multicarrier (MC) that employs precoding in synchronous downlink channels. Even though considerable efforts are undergoing for frequency offset estimation and correction, it is inevitable for the system to bear the remaining frequency offset. Therefore it is important to predict accurately the system performance in the presence of the residual frequency offset. We obtain the bit error rate (BER) performance in terms of the number of users, the spreading factor, the number of sub-carriers, and frequency offset. We assume that the spreading factor is equal to the number of sub-carriers, although we can generalize the case. The simulation results show that the BER of MC-CDMA with precoding shows a performance that varies with frequency offset as well as system loading.

  • In order to create more jobs and cope with big change of economic paradigm, a self employed creative company is suggested as an alternative mean. The understanding of relationship between performance and characteristics of self employed creative company will be helpful in establishing and efficiently operating a relevant government policy. Therefore, this study identifies empirically relationship between financial performance and characteristics of self-employed creative company. Through exploratory factor analysis and regression analysis, creativity and network is essential in increasing the financial performance of self-employed creative company.

  • Responding to changes in artificial intelligence models and the data environment is crucial for increasing data-learning accuracy and inference stability of industrial applications. A learning model that is overfitted to specific training data leads to poor learning performance and a deterioration in flexibility. Therefore, an early stopping technique is used to stop learning at an appropriate time. However, this technique does not consider the homogeneity and independence of the data collected by heterogeneous nodes in a differential network environment, thus resulting in low learning accuracy and degradation of system performance. In this study, the generalization performance of neural networks is maximized, whereas the effect of the homogeneity of datasets is minimized by achieving an accuracy of 99.7%. This corresponds to a decrease in delay time by a factor of 2.33 and improvement in performance by a factor of 2.5 compared with the conventional method.

  • Corporate Social Responsibility has become a hot issue for modern enterprises recently. Under this trend, companies have to focus on what they can do for society instead of on just making profits. This paper is to explore the relationship between ecological corporate social responsibility and organizational performance in the construction industry in Taiwan. 192 samples were collected from Taiwan's general contractors and analyzed using factor analysis, correlation analysis and path analysis. This study found: (1) in general, the contractors in Taiwan don't devote much to realizing ecological corporate social responsibility, and there is still much room for improvement; (2) the correlation analysis results indicated there are significant positive relationships between ecological corporate social responsibility and organizational performance; and (3) according to the path analysis results, a contractor can improve its business performance by improving its realization of corporate social responsibility.

  • In this paper, the function factors contributing to ITA/EA functions in their organizations, are suggested. Also the reasons to the construction of IT governance system and their effects on the their organizations are discussed and the relationships are verified by empirical model. From the survey, the data of the 227 respondents were collected and regression analysis was performed for validating the research model. ITA/EA functions consist of the IT infrastructure systemization, ITA/EA business process support, IT investment efficiency factors. And the factors of IT resource and performance management, IT process management, IT service management are included to IT governance. The main analysis results described significantly are shows as follows. At first, IT resource and performance management factor is effected by the ITA/EA business process support factor and IT investment efficiency factor. In similarly, IT service management factor is also affected by the factors such as ITA/EA business process support, IT investment efficiency, and IT infrastructure systemization. In additional analysis, IT investment efficiency factor in official sectors, ITA/EA business process support factor in private sectors respectively are described as the significant factors on the IT governance.

  • Stem friction coefficient and valve factor are very important parameters for the evaluation of valve performance. In this study, the characteristics of stem friction coefficient and valve factor are analyzed, and thor bounding value is determined. The hydraulic testing is performed for many flexible wedge gate valves in the plant and statistical method is applied to the determination of bounding value. According to the results of this study, stem friction coefficient does not change much with differential pressure, and the bounding value of closing stroke is higher than that of opening stroke. The valve factor of valves with high differential pressure is higher than that of valves with medium differential pressure. It means valve factor is more sensitive to the differential pressure than the stem friction coefficient. Valve factor of the closing stroke is higher than that of opening stroke due to piston effect.
