원통형 임피던스 튜브 내 미세천공 탄성 판의 흡음 (Sound absorption of micro-perforated elastic plates in a cylindrical impedance tube)

  • 본 논문은 원형 단면 임피던스 튜브내에 고정된 미세천공 탄성판의 흡음을 해석적으로 구하는 방법을 다루었다. 판의 진동과 덕트 내부 음장을 모드 함수의 무한 급수의 합으로 전개하였는데 반경방향으로는 Bessel 함수를 포함한다. 평면파 가정하에서 저주파수 대역의 근사식을 판의 처음 몇 개의 모드만 고려하여 흡음율을 유도하였으며 등가 임피던스를 갖는 단일 표면의 형태로 제시하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 공식과 FEM(Finite Element Method)을 이용한 결과는 잘 일치 하였는데 탄성의 효과는 판의 고유진동수에 해당하는 골 또는 피크의 형태로 나타난다. 천공율이 매우 작으면 진동의 영향이 지배적이나 천공율이 어느 한계이상 되면 박판의 탄성거동은 매우 작게 나타나고 강체 MPP(Micro-Perforated Plate)의 흡음 특성이 지배적이 된다.

Endodontic micro-resurgery and guided tissue regeneration of a periapical cyst associated to recurrent root perforation: a case report

  • Although the success rates of microsurgery and micro-resurgery are very high, the influence of a recurrent perforation combined with radicular cyst remains unclear. A 21-year-old white female patient had a history of root perforation in a previously treated right maxillary lateral incisor. Analysis using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) revealed an extensive and well-defined periapical radiolucency, involving the buccal and palatal bone plate. The perforation was sealed with bioceramic material (Biodentine) in the pre-surgical phase. In the surgical phase, guided tissue regeneration (GTR) was performed by combining xenograft (lyophilized bovine bone) and autologous platelet-rich fibrin applied to the bone defect. The root-end preparation was done using an ultrasonic tip. The retrograde filling was performed using a bioceramic material (Biodentine). Histopathological analysis confirmed a radicular cyst. The patient returned to her referring practitioner to continue the restorative procedures. CBCT analysis after 1-year recall revealed another perforation in the same place as the first intervention, ultimately treated by micro-resurgery using the same protocol with GTR, and a bioceramic material (MTA Angelus). The 2-year recall showed healing and bone neoformation. In conclusion, endodontic micro-resurgery with GTR showed long-term favorable results when a radicular cyst and a recurrent perforation compromised the success.

Nonlinear seismic performance of code designed perforated steel plate shear walls

  • Nonlinear seismic performances of code designed Perforated Steel Plate Shear Walls (P-SPSW) were studied. Three multi-storey (4-, 8-, and 12-storey) P-SPSWs were designed according to Canadian seismic provisions and their performance was evaluated using time history analysis for ground motions compatible with Vancouver response spectrum. The selected code designed P-SPSWs exhibited excellent seismic performance with high ductility and strength. The current code equation was found to provide a good estimation of the shear strength of the perforated infill plate, especially when the infill plate is yielded. The applicability of the strip model, originally proposed for solid infill plate, was also evaluated for P-SPSW and two different strip models were studied. It was observed that the strip model with strip widths equal to center to center diagonal distance between each perforation line could reasonably predict the inelastic behavior of unstiffened P-SPSWs. The strip model slightly underestimated the initial stiffness; however, the ultimate strength was predicted well. Furthermore, applicability of simple shear-flexure beam model for determination of fundamental periods of P-SPSWs was studied.

Assessment of Equivalent Elastic Modulus of Perforated Spherical Plates

  • Perforated plates are used for the steam generator tube-sheet and the Reactor Vessel Closure Head in the Nuclear Power Plant. The ASME code, Section III Appendix A-8000, addresses the analysis of perforated plates, however, this analysis is only limited to the flat plate with a triangular perforation pattern. Based on the concept of the effective elastic constants, simulation of flat and spherical perforated plates and their equivalent solid plates were carried out using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The isotropic material properties of the perforated plate were replaced with anisotropic material properties of the equivalent solid plate and subjected to the same loading conditions. The generated curves of effective elastic constants vs ligament efficiency for the flat perforated plate were in agreement with the design curve provided by ASME code. With this result, a plate with spherical curvature having perforations can be conveniently analyzed with equivalent elastic modulus and equivalent Poisson's ratio.

Effect of perforation patterns on the fundamental natural frequency of microsatellite structure

  • There is a burgeoning demand for minimizing the mass of satellites because of its direct impact on reducing launch-to-orbit cost. This must be done without compromising the structure's efficiency. The present paper introduces a relatively low-cost and easily implementable approach for optimizing structural mass to a maximum natural frequency. The natural frequencies of the satellite are of utmost pertinence to the application requirements, as the sensitive electronic instrumentation and onboard computers should not be affected by the vibrations of the satellite structure. This methodology is applied to a realistic model of Al-Azhar University micro-satellite in partnership with the Egyptian Space Agency. The procedure used in structural design can be summarized in two steps. The first step is to select the most favorable primary structural configuration among several different candidate variants. The nominated variant is selected as the one scoring maximum relative dynamic stiffness. The second step is to use perforation patterns reduce the overall mass of structural elements in the selected variant without changing the weight. The results of the presented procedure demonstrate that the mass reduction percentage was found to be 39% when compared to the unperforated configuration that had the same plate thickness. The findings of this study challenge the commonly accepted notion that isogrid perforations are the most effective means of achieving the goal of reducing mass while maintaining stiffness. Rather, the study highlights the potential benefits of exploring a wider range of perforation unit cells during the design process. The study revealed that rectangular perforation patterns had the lowest efficiency in terms of modal stiffness, while triangular patterns resulted in the highest efficiency. These results suggest that there may be significant gains to be made by considering a broader range of perforation shapes and configurations in the design of lightweight structures.

An experimental study on the ballistic performance of FRP-steel plates completely penetrated by a hemispherical-nosed projectile

  • Experiments were carried out to investigate the ballistic performance of fiber reinforced plastic(FRP)-steel plates completely penetrated by hemispherical-nosed projectiles at sub-ordnance velocities greater than their ballistic limits. The FRP-steel plate consists of a front FRP laminate and a steel backing plate. Failure mechanisms and impact energy absorptions of FRP-steel plates were analyzed and compared with FRP laminates and single steel plates. The effects of relative thickness, manufacturing method and fabric type of front composite armors as well as the joining style between front composite armors and steel backing plates on the total perforation resistance of FRP-steel plates were explored. It is found that in the case of FRP-steel plates completely penetrated by hemispherical-nosed projectiles at low velocities, the failure modes of front composite armors are slightly changed while for steel backing plates, the dominate failure modes are greatly changed due to the influence of front composite armors. The relative thickness and fabric type of front composite armors as well as the joining style of FRP-steel plates have large effects whereas the manufacturing method of front composite armors has slight effect on the total perforation resistance of FRP-steel plates.

천공과 유동 가이드를 활용한 방사형 히트싱크의 자연대류 열전달 향상에 관한 연구 (Study on the Natural Convection Heat-Transfer Enhancement in Radial Heat Sink Using the Perforation and Flow Guide)

  • 본 연구에서는 천공과 유동 가이드를 활용한 방사형 히트싱크의 자연대류 열전달 향상에 관해 수치적으로 탐구하였다. 천공과 침니 기반의 유동 가이드를 활용한 개선된 형상의 방사형 히트싱크의 성능을 평가하고, 기존의 방사형 히트싱크와 열 성능을 비교하였다. 연구 결과, 천공형 히트싱크는 연구범위 내에서 천공의 개수와 직경이 클수록 열 성능이 좋아짐을 알 수 있었다. 침니 기반의 유동 가이드를 활용한 히트싱크에 대해서는, 핀의 개수, 침니와 바닥면 사이의 거리의 영향을 분석하였다. 그 결과 핀의 개수와 침니와 바닥면 사이의 거리에 최적화된 값이 있다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 히트싱크의 방향이 상 방향($0^{\circ}$)에서 최고의 열 성능을, 측 방향($90^{\circ}$)일 때 최악의 열 성능이 나타나는 것을 알 수 있었다. 천공형 히트싱크와 최적의 구조를 갖는 유동 가이드를 갖는 히트싱크는 기존의 방사형 히트싱크와 비교하였을 때, 각각 최대 17%, 20% 개선된 열 성능을 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 본 논문은 공학과 관련한 획기적인 아이디어를 제시함으로써 창업기술개발, 벤처 및 기업가정신 함양에도 중요한 의미를 지닐 수 있다.

철근콘크리트 유공보에 관한 연구 (A Study on Reinforced Concrete Beams with Perforation)

  • In building structure, the story height can be minimized by providing openings in beams which serves for the utility equipments passing through. The dead space in false ceiling thus put to economical use in the form of a substantial reduction in materials and construction cost. In the case of steel structure, there is no critical risk in the structural strength because of reinforcing methods of stiffness and steel plate but in the case of reinforced concrete structure, proper provision should be made in designing these openings, otherwise there is a risk that these opening will possibly weaken the structural strength of the building frame to a critical degree. In this paper, for the numerical analysis of the reinforced concrete beams with circular opening in the web, expecting stress concentration of the circular opening, reinforcing methods were studied. Twenty test pieces with each different reinforcing methods were tested and their resisting forces were defined. From the numerical analysis and test results, the followings were founded;(1)high shear stress distributed around the openings reduce the shearing strength, (2)from the numerical analysis, the maximum tensile stress occurred at opening nodes 1,7, these phenomena were agreed with the test results, (3)reinforcing method around openings have to carried out for stopping diagonal cracks, and (4)both, by steel plate, and wire mesh, are effective reinforcing methods.

수종의 한국산 자작나무과 식물에 있어서 뿌리와 줄기의 이기목부의 비교해부 (Comparative Anatomy of the Secondary Xylem in the Root and Stem of Some Korean Betulaceae)

  • 본 연구에서는 한국산 자작나무과 식물 5속 6종의 뿌리와 줄기의 이기목부를 비교해부학적으로 연구하였다. 뿌리와 줄기의 이기목부에 있어서 해부학적 특징은 도관 및 섬유의 직경은 줄기에 비해 뿌리에서 더 넓은 반면 단위면적당 도관 및 섬유의 분포수는 뿌리에서 더 적었으며, 도관요소의 길이는 줄기에서 더 긴 반면 섬유의 길이는 뿌리에서 더 길었다. 천공판상의 횡대수는 뿌리보다 줄기에서 더 많았고, 단위면적당 방사조직의 수는 뿌리에서 더 많았다.

고속충돌 및 초고속충돌 강판구조물의 대변형 관통문제에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Deformation and Perforation Problem for Steel Plates Subjected to High-Speed Collision and Superhigh-Speed Collision)

  • 본 연구에서는 충돌문제에 있어서 비교적 높은 활용도를 지니고 있는 범용 유한요소해석코드 LS-DYNA3D를 사용해 판부재에 충돌체가 충돌하는 경우, 내충돌성을 평가하였다. 속도가 41.56m/s-118.9m/s로 비교적 고속인 충돌문제부터 속도가 544.05m/s-800m/s인 초고속 충돌문제까지 시리즈 해석을 하였다. 이를 통해 판부재에 다양한 속도의 충돌체가 충돌하는 경우에 있어 피충돌체의 관통 유무를 평가할 수 있는 경험식을 구하고자 한다.
