The objective of this study was to develop a model for safe work load based on a physiological model of metabolic energy of manual material handling tasks. Fifteen male subjects voluntarily participated in this study. Lifting activities with four different weights, 0, 8, 16, 24kg, and four different working frequencies (2, 5, 8, 11 lifts/min) for a lifting range from floor to the knuckle height of 76cm were considered. Oxygen consumption rates and heart rates were measured during the performance of sixteen different lifting activities. Simplified predictive equations for estimating the oxygen consumption rate and the heart rate were developed. The oxygen consumption rate and the heart rate could be expressed as a function of task variables; frequency and the weight of the load, and a personal variable, body weight, and their interactions. The coefficients of determination ($r^2$) of the model were 0.9777 and 0.9784, respectively, for the oxygen consumption rate and the heart rate. The model of oxygen consumption rate was modified to estimate the work load for the given oxygen consumption rate. The overall absolute percent errors of the validation of this equation for work load with the original data set was 39.03%. The overall absolute percent errors were much larger than this for the two models based on the US population. The models for the oxygen consumption rate and for the work load developed in this study work better than the two models based on the US population. However, without considering the biomechanical approach, the developed model for the work load and the two US models are not recommended to estimate the work loads for low frequent lifting activities.
The measured attenuation correction with transmission (Tx) scans produced quantitatively accurate images. However, it was not clear for optimal emission (Ex) and Tx scan time in PET imaging. This study was to evaluate acceptable Ex and Tx scan time by simulating clinical situations using various phantoms. Cylindrical and NEMA phantom were used for $^{18}$ F-PET scan using 2D protocol in GE Advance PETTM scanner. Cylindrical phantom was filled with 136 MBq 18F, and five regions of interests (ROI) were drawn on 23 slices. NEMA phantom had three inserts containing water, air and polytetrafluoro-ethylene (PTFE). Outside of these inserts were filled with 309 MBq of $^{18}$ F, and total 12 ROIs were drawn on 23 slices. Scans were carried out according to five Ex scan times: 2, 5, 10, 15, and 30 min, and nine Tx scan times: 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, and 30 min. Images were reconstructed using measured attenuation correction, and ROI analyses were performed for all images, and mean, standard deviation (SD), coefficient of variation and percent errors were calculated. For cylindrical phantom study, ROI mean and SD were decreased as Ex and Tx time increased. Coefficients of variation were kept constant, when Tx was greater than 10 min. The amount of error decreased for the increment of Ex time from 10 min to 15 min was almost the same to that from 15 min to 30 min. In NEMA phantom Tx 15 min showed the lowest er개r level when the percent errors for three inserts were summed for all of the Ex times. This study suggested that Ex 15 min and Tx 15 min were acceptable as optimal scan time for the scanning protocol and the dose of radiopharmaceuticals used in these phantom study.

This experimental study represents the results of an analysis on the characteristics of flux density distribution in the focal region of solar concentrator. The characteristics of flux density distributions are investigated to optimally design and position a cavity receiver. This was deemed very useful to find and correct various errors associated with a dish concentrator. We estimated the flux density distribution on the target placed along with focal lengths from the dish vertex to experimentally determine the focal length. It is observed that the actual focal point exists when the focal length is 2.17m. The total integrated power and percent power was 2467W and $85.8\%$, respectively, in the case of small dish, and also 2095W and $79\%$, respectively, in the case of KIERDISH II. As a result of the percent power within radius, approximately $90\%$ of the incident radiation is intercepted by about 0.06 m radius. The minimum radius of receiver in KIERDISH II is found to be 0.15m and approximately $90\%$ of the incident radiation is intercepted by receiver aperture.
We present a novel shadow culling algorithm for interactive ray tracing. Our approach exploits frame-to-frame coherence instead of preprocessing of building shadow data, so this algorithm is suitable for dynamic ray raying. In this algorithm, shadow processing results are stored to each primitive and used in the next frames. We also present a novel occlusion testing method. This method corrects potential shadow errors in our culling algorithm and requires low overhead. Experiment results show that our algorithm reduced both the traversal cost by 7-19 percent and the intersection cost by 9-24 percent.

It is known that ball bearings mounted in housing or on shaft are playing a key role to keep it running smoothly. The roundness of a housing bore on which bearing outer ring is mounted with interference has directly affected the running accuracy of bearing. The running accuracy of bearing, therefore, can extend the significant influence to the rotating machinery as well. In this paper, bearing's vibration and fatigue life considering raceway roundness of ball bearing before and after mounted in housing bore are theoretically estimated. To perform analysis, a simple three degrees of freedom model was proposed and then Newton-Raphson iterative method was introduced to be utilized in the analysis. The results show that the vibration magnitude of ball bearing fitted into housing unit is appeared considerably larger than the one of its pre-assembling. And theoretical $L_{10}$ life which ninety percent of the bearing population will endure decreased in about fifty percent.

Ball bearings which were fitted between housing and shaft play an important role in rotating shaft system smoothly, Therefore bearing's running accuracy has significant influence on that of rotating machinery. Manufacturing accuracy of bearings as well as that of shaft and housing is main factor to affect bearing running accuracy In this paper, bearing's vibration and fatigue life considering raceway roundness of ball bearing before and after being fitted into housing are theoretically estimated. To perform analysis, a simple three degrees of freedom model was proposed and then these analysis was conducted utilizing the Newton-Raphson iterative method. The results show that vibration magnitude of ball bearing fitted into housing is considerably larger than before assembly, and bearing's theoretical L$_{10}$ fatigue life that ninety percent of the bearing population will endure decreased in about fifty percent.

This paper presents a method of improving the performance of a day-ahead 24-h load curve and peak load forecasting. The next-day load curve is forecasted using radial basis function (RBF) neural network models built using the best design parameters. To improve the forecasting accuracy, the load curve forecasted using the RBF network models is corrected by the weighted sum of both the error of the current prediction and the change in the errors between the current and the previous prediction. The optimal weights (called "gains" in the error correction) are identified by differential evolution. The peak load forecasted by the RBF network models is also corrected by combining the load curve outputs of the RBF models by linear addition with 24 coefficients. The optimal coefficients for reducing both the forecasting mean absolute percent error (MAPE) and the sum of errors are also identified using differential evolution. The proposed models are trained and tested using four years of hourly load data obtained from the Korea Power Exchange. Simulation results reveal satisfactory forecasts: 1.230% MAPE for daily peak load and 1.128% MAPE for daily load curve.

An experimental study is presented for the effect of number of terms of a pewee series type stress function on stress analysis around a hole in tensile loaded plate. The hybrid method coupling photoelastsic data inputs and complex variable formulations involving conformal mappings and analytical continuity is used to calculate tangential stress on the boundary of the hole in uniaxially loaded, finite width tensile plate. In order to measure isochromatic data accurately, actual photoelastic fringe patterns are two times multiplied and sharpened by digital image processing. For qualitative comparison, actual fringes are compared with calculated ones. For quantitative comparison, percentage errors and standard deviations with respect to percentage errors are caculated for all measured points by changing the number of terms of stress function. The experimental results indicate that stress concentration factors analyzed by the hybrid method are accurate within three percent compared with ones obtained by theoretical and finite element analysis.
Cine-Hangeul is a program that can predict the running time of a movie based on the screenplay before production. This paper seeks to verify the prediction reporting function of Cine-Hangeul, which is the standard Korean screenplay format. Moreover, this paper presents a method to increase the accuracy of the Cine-Hangeul reporting function. The objective of this paper is to offer a correction method based on scientific evidence because the current Cine-Hangeul reporting function has many errors. The verification process for five scenarios and movies confirmed that the default setting value of Cine- Hangeul's screening time prediction reporting was many errors. Cine-Hangeul analyzes the amount of textual information to predict the time of the scene and the time of the dialogue and helps predict the total time of the movie. Therefore, if a certain amount of text information is not available, the accuracy is unreliable. The current Cine-Hangeul prediction report confirms that the efficiency is high when the scenario volume is about 90 to 100 pages. As a result, prediction of screening time by Cine-Hangeul, a Korean scenario standard format program, confirmed the verification that it could secure the same level of reliability as the actual screening time by correcting the reporting settings. This verification also affirms that when applying about 50 percent of the basic set of screening time reporting, it is almost identical to the screening time.

Travel speed is an important parameter in measurement of road traffic. UTIS(Urban Traffic Information System) was developed as a type of section detector. However, UTIS incur errors caused by irregular vehicle trajectories, wireless communication range and so on. This paper suggests a new model that use an error-filtering algorithm to improve the accuracy of travel speed measurements. In the field test, the variance of the percent errors measured by the new model was reduced. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proposed model significantly improves travel speed measuring accuracy.
