The Ecological Variables on Adolescent's Popularity (청소년의 사회측정적 인기도에 영향을 미치는 생태학적 변인)

  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the ecological variables on adolescent's sociometric popularity. Independent variables were organism(sex, age, aggression, self-esteem, impulsiveness, prosocial behavior, dominance), microsystem(parenting style, family support, friends relationship, teacher support), mesosystem(family-peer relationship, family-school relationship), and exosystem(positive community environment, social support of extended family, school's policy). The subjects were 835 - 1st and 2nd graders of two middle and two high schools in Daegu. Adolescent's sociometric popularity and ecological variables were measured with questionnaire. Adolescent's sociometric popularity was measured with sociometric popularity questionnaire. Organism variables were measured with sex, age, aggression, self-esteem, impulsiveness, prosocial behavior and dominance questionnaire. Microsystem variables were measured with parenting style, family support, friends relationship and teacher support questionnaire. Mesosystem variables were measured with family-peer relationship and family-school relationship questionnaire. Exosystem variables were measured with positive community environment, social support of extended family and school's policy questionnaire. The data analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, cronbach's $\alpha$, and multiple regression. The major findings were as follows: First, adolescent's sociometric popularity was affected by age, overt aggression, academic self-esteem, social self-esteem, and impulsiveness of organism variables. Second, adolescent's sociometric popularity was affected by mother's affectional parenting, mother's control parenting, and attachment to friends of microsystem variables. Third, adolescent's sociometric popularity was affected by family - peer relationship and family - school relationship of mesosystem variables. Fourth, adolescent's sociometric popularity was affected by appraisal support of extended family, after-school activity, and circle activity of exosystem variables.

PTT Service Interworking Between IMS Based Networks and P2P Overlay Networks

  • The demand for multimedia streaming services is increasing rapidly. To meet this demand, there has been much research and many practical developments for providing multimedia services. A push-to-talk (PTT) service is one of the multimedia streaming services that have been deployed not only over IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) but also in peer-to-peer (P2P) overlay networks. The benefit of PTT has been demonstrated in the literature. However, the need for using PTT service in communication can be arbitrary among users, regardless what kind of PTT services they use. This demand does not support current PTT systems, so an expansion of PTT services still be limited. Moreover, the combination of PTT services in IMS and P2P networks will help operators to provide more scalable PTT services. Therefore, in this paper, we proposed a model to support PTT service interworking between IMS and P2P overlay networks. We also introduced our system design and some interworking service scenarios. We confirmed our architecture through implementation and testing.

The Ecological Variables on Adolescents' Runway Impulse (청소년의 가출충동에 영향을 미치는 생태학적 변인)

  • This study focused on the ecological variables that affect adolescents' runway impulse. For the organisms, self-esteem, impulse control, school achievement and runway experience, for the microsystems, family, school and peer environment, for the mesosystems, family-peer relationships and family-school relationships, and for the exosystem, neighborhood environment were included. The sample consisted of 651 eleventh grade adolescents. Instruments were the Runway Impulse Scale(Nam, 2001) and Index of organisms, microsystems, mesosystems, and exosystem variables. Statistics and methods used for the analysis were Cronbach's alpha, frequency, percentage, t-test, Pearson's correlation and multiple Regression. Several major results were found from the analysis. First, no sex difference was found in adolescents' runway impulse. Second, runway impulse of male and female adolescents showed positive correlations with runway experience, parental marital conflict, dissatisfactions of school life and exposure to friends with problems behavior but negative correlations with self-esteem, impulse control, school achievement, parental support and supervision, teacher support, family-peer relationships and neighborhood environment. Female adolescents' runway impulse stowed negative correlations with family-school relationships. Third, the most important variable predicting male adolescents' runway impulse was exposure to friends with problems behavior, the most important variable for female was self-esteem.

A Multi-Agent Message Transfer Architecture based on the Messaging Middleware ZeroMQ (메시지 지향 미들웨어 ZeroMQ 기반의 다중 에이전트 메시지 전송 구조)

  • This paper suggests a multi-agent message transport architecture based on the message-oriented middleware ZeroMQ. Compared with the other middlewares such as CORBA, Ice, and Thrift, ZeroMQ receives a good score in the evaluation of performance, QoS (Quality of Service), patterns, user friendliness, and resources. The suggested message transfer architecture borrowed many basic concepts like agent platform, AMS (Agent Management System), and MTS (Message Transfer System) from FIPA (Foundation for Intelligent Physical Agents) standard multi-agent specifications, and the architecture inherited the strength of the architecture from the multi-agent framework SMAF (Smart Multi-Agent Framework). The architecture suggested in this paper is a novel peer-to-peer architecture which is not known to the ZeroMQ community. In the suggested architecture, every MTS agent uses only one ZeroMQ router socket to support peer-to-peer communication among MTS agents. The suggested architecture can support closely collaborating software areas such as intelligent robots as well as the traditional application areas of multi-agent architecture. The suggested architecture has interoperability and scalability with the ZeroMQ devices and patterns.

A Distributed Communication Architecture Based on the Peer-to-Peer Model for Enhancing Distribution Automation System Services (배전자동화 시스템의 서비스 향상을 위한 P2P 기반의 분산형 통신망 구조)

  • We overview the current distribution automation system in Korea and point out the limitations of the distribution services which can be provided by the current system. In this paper we propose a new distribution system architecture which is based on the peer-to-peer communication model. In this decentralized architecture the intelligent FRTUS can initiate data transmission without any interruption of a central server, and can exchange data with other FRTUS as peers. In order to support the peer-based distribution system, we specify the requirements for new communication network and suggest a way of improving the current distribution network where we adapt an intelligent module for protection and restoration, called MASX, and utilize the open communication network protocols. We also show how the new architecture can enhance major distribution services such as protection, automatic restoration, and equipment management.

  • We have developed a peer agent to support programming learning and analyzed its educational effects in a programming course. The agent acts as a tutor or a tutee. The role of a tutor/tutee is like the role of a navigator/driver in pair programming. While students are learning with the peer agent, the students' programming abilities are modeled. Based on the student's model, the peer agent provides appropriate feedbacks and contents to the learner. The peer agent gives positive effects on learners' achievement and self-efficacy in a programming course. It means that the peer agent system helps the learner in an affective domain as well as a cognitive domain.

Children's Social Support and Perception of Self-Competence (아동의 사회적 지지와 자기능력지각에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between social support and perception of self-confidence in children by grade, sex, and other related variables. The subjects were 136 third-graders, 143 sixth-graders, and 161 eighth-graders in public schools located in Pusan. Instruments were Harter's Self-Perception Profile for Children and the Social Support Appraisal Scale (SSAS). The SSAS is a 31-item measure that taps children's perception of family, peer, and teacher support. The data were analyzed by frequency, percentile, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression. The main results showed that (1) children in 6th and 8th grades perceived higher peer support than children in 3rd grade, (2) except for social acceptance, the children in higher grades perceived themselves lower in self-competence than the children in lower grades, (3) there was a positive relationship between children's perception of self-competence and social support, and (4) the variables which influenced children's self-perception were, in descending order: socioeconomic status(${\beta}=.52$), age(${\beta}=.21$), social support(${\beta}=.10$). These three variables explained 38% of the children' self-perception.

  • Peer-to-peer(P2P) has potential strength and possible factors which enable it to develop toward a new business by supplementing the limitation of the existing central server-type network. In various business sectors, various attempts have already been made to apply P2P. The computing power which was possible to be formed through peer-to-peer networking will become a powerful tools for expanding toward new business area depending the utilization methods by sector. Although the technology-centric P2P concept is a major interest now, its development direction will head toward service-centric P2P concept for satisfying desires of end-users(individual peers) for reliable contents and improving their purchasing convenience. But the solution requisites should be solved for the efficient application of P2P to business such as the establishment of and supplement for the industrial standard and legal system for P2P, the enhancement of peers recognition of P2P. Presently e-commerce using P2P is being implemented by a few enterprises locally by means of B2C. But if many enterprises enter this type of e-commerce, and the standardization of peer programmes, goods and documents is made, it will be able to be extended to B2B. Also it seems that it can be utilized in international transactions as well as in domestic transactions. So there is much room for the application of P2P to be extended further. Also there has been presented the necessity for related industries to support their work with theories and for academic studies to be made actively to set the direction of its development. It is hoped that multi-angled and in-depth studies on the utilization of P2P and various attempts to application of it to business be made on the basis of this study. For the development of P2P, continuous study and attempts are needed. The field of P2Ps application is very large and it will become a powerful tool, depending upon its application methods.

The Relationship among Peer Support, Family Strength and Self-Control in High School Students (고등학생이 인식하는 친구지지, 가족건강성과 자기통제력의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation among peer support, family strength and self-control. This subjects were the 438 high school students living in Gwangju. Data were analyzed with SPSS 18.0 program. The major findings were as follows; First, the high school students' peer support and family strength scores were higher than median(3.00). Also, long-term satisfaction pursuit scores were higher than median and the immediate satisfaction pursuit scores were lower than median. Second, peer support showed significant difference according to sex. Family strength showed partially significant difference according to standard of living and parents' education achievement. Self-controls showed significant difference according to sex and father's education achievement. Third, family strength and the self-control showed significant correlation. Forth, the high school students' self-control was influenced by role sharing and problem solving, communication and family bonding and fathers' education achievement. And the high school students' self-control was explained about 15% by these variables. In conclusion, the role of home is important. it is necessary to enhance the education of financial stability and to improve self-control in order to help the students enhance solidity among family and communicate affirmatively.

Compensatory Support Among Children's Peer Relationships: School Friends, Nonschool Friends, and Sibilings (학령기아동의 친구관계에 따른 대체지지에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined compensatory patterns of support among three types of children's peer relationships: school friendships, nonschool friendships, and sibling relationships. Specifically, this study investigated (1) the degree to which children with unsupportive school friendships turn to nonschool friends and siblings to compensate for the provisions they lack from school friends, and (2) the potential protective effects of substitute support on such children's adjustment. Subjects for this study were drawn from a sample of 297 sixth graders attending 3 public schools in Seoul. 6 teachers and 594 of parents of subjects also participated in the study. Subjects completed their questionnaires in their own classroom. The teachers and parents completed their forms within 1 week. The data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA and $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test. The results of this study were as follows: (a) When compared with the average, aggressive children and isolated children perceived their school friendship as low support. (b) Isolated, aggressive, and average children differed in their perceptions of support from nonschool friends and their favorite siblings. (c) The children who have unsupportive school friendships experienced greater socioemotional difficulties than did children with supportive school friendships. (d) The extent that sibling and nonschool friends provided the support lacking in their school friendships, isolated and aggressive children experienced diminished emotional distress.
