In conclusion, it proposes an institutional approach towards the problem as well as increased support for elderly welfare service including family counseling intended to strengthen family function and alternative family, and more active social activities aimed at strengthening of peer relationship.

The self-esteem of adolescents in out-of-home care were more affected by depression than that of general adolescents. Third, in terms of the effect of peer attachment on self-esteem, there was no statistical difference between adolescents in out-of-home care and general adolescents. In sum, it was verified that the effect of depression on self-esteem was different depending on peer attachment. It suggests the practice and policy implications for social welfare through paying attention to commonality and difference between adolescents in out-of-home care and general adolescents.

The participants were 2,844 taken from data from the Korean Youth Panel Survey (KYPS). Data from secondary questionnaires data on parent and peer attachment, problem behavior, delinquent peers, and delinquency were used for this study. Data were analyzed by means of a Structural Equation Model using AMOS 5.0. Our results indicated that, firstly, parental attachment was negatively related to problem behavior for both male and female adolescents, whereas peer attachment was positively related to problem behavior only for males, but not for females. Secondly, problem behavior in childhood has a direct effect on adolescent delinquency, which also can be indirectly mediated by contact with delinquent peers. In conclusion, the path model from parental and peer attachment in early childhood to adolescent delinquency was supported only in the case of males.

  • This study aimed to examine whether neglect influences sense of community and whether such a relationship is moderated by peer attachment. For this purpose, this study employed multi variate regression analyses using the sixth-panel data (2015) of fourth-grade elementary-school children from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. Key findings were as follows: First, neglect was found to have negative impacts on sense of community.
