We propose a digital holographic interference analysis method based on a 2-frame phase-shifting technique for measuring an optical mirror surface. The technique using 2-frame phase-shifting digital interferometry is more efficient than multi-frame phase-shifting techniques because the 2-frame method has the advantage of a reduced number of interferograms, and then takes less time to acquire the wanted topography information from interferograms. In this measurement system, 2-frame phase-shifting digital interferograms are acquired by moving the reference flat mirror surface, which is attached to a piezoelectric transducer, with phase step of 0 or $\pi$/2 in the reference beam path. The measurements are recorded on a CCD detector. The optical interferometry is designed on the basis of polarization characteristics of a polarizing beam splitter. Therefore the noise from outside turbulence can be decreased. The proposed 2-frame algorithm uses the relative phase difference of the neighbor pixels. The experiment has been carried out on an optical mirror which flatness is less than $\lambda$/4. The measurement of the optical mirror surface topography using 2-frame phase-shifting interferometry shows that the peak-to-peak value is calculated to be about $0.1779{\mu}m$, the root-mean-square value is about $0.034{\mu}m$. Thus, the proposed method is expected to be used in nondestructive testing of optical components.

White light scanning interferometry has gotten a firm position in 3D surface profile measuring field. Recently, the LCD industry gave a chance for this technology to enter into real industry fields. It is known that white-light phase-shifting algorithm give a best resolution compare to other algorithms, but there are some problems to be resolved. One of them is 300nm jump in height profile, called bat-wing effect. The main reason of this problem is an ambiguity of phase-peak detection algorithm, and some solution has been proposed, but it didn't work perfectly. In this paper, I will show the cases when these effects are occurred, and these height discrepancies will be almost disappeared when broad-band illuminators are used.

The latest video compression standard (such as H.264/AVC and HEVC) utilizes quarter-pel accuracy motion estimation in order to retain detailed motion information. Many sub-pixel motion estimation algorithms used in the spatial domain usually encounters increment of computational complexity due to embedded interpolation algorithm. In this paper, an approach to measure sub-pixel accuracy motion estimation in frequency domain using shifting matrix is proposed. Complexity can be reduced utilizing shifting matrix algorithm in frequency domain and simulation results demonstrate not only higher PSNR but lower bit rates than spatial domain algorithms.

We propose the Fizeau-type phase shifting interferometer(FPSI) system for the performance test of high-order aspheric lenses. The proposed system is divided into two parts : optical part and signal processing part. Those two parts are operated by a program for hardware control. We also developed an analysis program adopting the phase shifting algorithm to analyze the obtained interferograms. We can confirm that the proposed system is efficient and adequate by direct comparison with the standard criterion in Mark IV interferometric system of Zygo. The peak-to-valley and RMS values of surface errors which are used to characterize high-order aspheric lenses are 0.845 wave and 0.1871 wave, respectively. The measurement errors between the proposed system and Mark IV are less than ${\lambda}/100$ and the repeatability is also calculated at less than ${\lambda}/100$.

This paper presents the operation algorithm of microgrid on the Real Time Pricing(RTP) for building the smart grid. RTP is higher power price variability than flat rate and time of use. However it has an effect on peak clipping and peak load shifting due to the increased price on peak time power demand. When the RTP are applied to the microgrid system, the proposed algorithm is able to be effective and economic operation. The implemented system is operated for the economic operation in microgrid connected with the power system. On the other hand, when the microgrid is operated on isolation mode, it focus on the improvement of stability and the power supply reliability of the sensitive loads. The test system are implemented and calculated on various operation modes based on non-dispachable generator output and RTP data for validating the proposed operation algorithm. The calculated results are compared to the implemented results using real-time simulator. It can be confirmed that the proposed operation system are identical results to the calculated one. When the proposed operation algorithm is applied to the system, it can be show the effectiveness of the peak clipping and peak load shifting and the improvement of economic feasibility.
In this letter, a block code that minimizes the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals is proposed. It is shown that peak envelope power is invariant to cyclic shift and codeword inversion. The systematic encoding rule for the proposed code is composed of searching for a seed codeword, shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. This eliminates the look-up table for one-to-one correspondence between the source and the coded data. Computer simulation confirms that OFDM systems with the proposed code always have the minimum PAPR.
This study presents two reversible data hiding schemes based on the coefficient shifting (CS) algorithm. The first scheme uses the CS algorithm with a mean predictor in the spatial domain to provide a large payload while minimizing distortion. To guard against manipulations, the second scheme uses a robust version of the CS algorithm with feature embedding implemented in the integer wavelet transform domain. Simulations demonstrate that both the payload and peak signal-to-noise ratio generated by the CS algorithm with a mean predictor are better than those generated by existing techniques. In addition, the marked images generated by the variant of the CS algorithm are robust to various manipulations created by JPEG2000 compression, JPEG compression, noise additions, (edge) sharpening, low-pass filtering, bit truncation, brightness, contrast, (color) quantization, winding, zigzag and poster edge distortion, and inversion.

Reductions of the electricity charge are achieved by demand management of the load. The demand management method of the load using ESS involves peak shifting, which shifts from a high demand time to low demand time. By shifting the load, the peak load can be lowered and the energy charge can be saved. Electricity charges consist of the energy charge and the basic charge per contracted capacity. The energy charge and peak load are minimized by Linear Programming (LP) and Quadratic Programming (QP), respectively. On the other hand, each optimization method has its advantages and disadvantages. First, the LP cannot separate the efficiency of the ESS. To solve these problems, the charge and discharge efficiency of the ESS was separated by Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). Nevertheless, both methods have the disadvantages that they must assume the reduction ratio of peak load. Therefore, QP was used to solve this problem. The next step was to optimize the formula combination of QP and LP to minimize the electricity charge. On the other hand, these two methods have disadvantages in that the charge and discharge efficiency of the ESS cannot be separated. This paper proposes an optimization method according to the situation by analyzing quantitatively the advantages and disadvantages of each optimization method.
Design criteria far a block code which guarantees minimized PAPR of the OFDM signals are proposed in this paper. Encoding procedure of the minimum PAPR codes (MPC) is composed of searching a seed codeword, circular shifting the register elements, and determining codeword inversion. It is shown that the PEP is invariant to the circular shift of register elements and codeword inversion. Based on such properties, systematic encoding rule for MPC is proposed. In addition proposed encoding rule can reduced greatly the size of look up table for MPC.
This study compares the gait characteristics of elderly women during barefoot walking and walking with sneakers. We measured foot angles, max foot pressure, peak plantar pressure of each plantar region, velocity of Center of Pressure(COP), and axis shifting of COP with an RS-scan system. Elderly women's foot angles were narrower when walking with sneakers than when barefoot walking. We found that the subtalar joint angle (representing ankle joint flexibility) affected walking stability. Regarding the peak plantar pressure of each foot region, pressures were high in the medial regions and the pressures greatly varied depending on the region measured during barefoot walking. The COP moved significantly faster when walking with sneakers than barefoot walking and suggests that elderly women walked faster in sneakers. Axis shifting of the COP decreased during walking with sneakers and indicated that gait balance improved when walking with sneakers. The findings of the present study can be utilized as foundational data for elderly women's gait characteristics as well as data for the production of functional footwear. Future research that focuses on various types of shoes, age groups, and gender are recommended for the development of more functional footwear for stable gaits.
