Effects of the Superlattices on STM Imaging of Self-organized Substituted Alkyl Chain Monolayers on a Graphite Surface

  • We characterized the physisorption of p-iodo-phenyl octadecyl ether molecules (I-POE) onto superlattice regions of graphite surfaces using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The formation of self-organized I-POE monolayers does not affect the overall structures of moir$\acute{e}$ patterns and their modulation periods. However, the packing density of the I-POE monolayer and the orientations of lamella structures were sensitive to the underlying superlattice structure. Depending on the bias voltage, the STM images selectively showed moir$\acute{e}$ pattern, I-POE layer, or both. Reflecting the local density of states at a certain energy level, the STM images thereby revealed the relative energy level scale of the superlattice with respect to the molecular orbitals of I-POE.

  • This study relates to the effect of forming time of injection path on the total process. The whole process can be divided into build process of forming path of injection and after treatment process. The total time required for the whole process could be reduced by reducing the forming time of injection path using SLC file to correct the problems of STL file that is the basic file format for high speed molding devices. First of all, I verify the forming time of injection path according to the conditions of STL file during the formation of injection path. And I verify problems using STL file during formation of injection path. And then I tried to solve problems of STL file by comparing between the formation time of injection path and the existing method using SLC files.

Laser Generation of Focused Lamb Waves

  • An arc-shaped line array slit has been used for the laser generation of focused Lamb waves. The spatially expanded Nd:YAG pulse laser was illuminated through the arc-shaped line array slit on the surface of a sample plate to generate the Lamb waves of the same pattern as the slit. Then the generated Lamb waves were focused at the focal point of which distance from the slit position is dependent on the curvature of slit arc. The proposed method showed better spatial resolution than the conventional linear array slit in the detection of laser machined linear defect and drill machined circular defect on aluminum plates of 2mm thickness. Using the focused waves, we could detect the linear defect and the circular defect with the improvement of spatial resolution. The method can also be combined with the scanning mechanism to get an image just like by the scanning acoustic microscope(SAM).

  • Sulfisoxazole, a chemotherapeutic agent, was microencapsulated with ethylcellulose by means of phase separation form cyclohexane by temperatture change. The size distribution was determined by use of standard sieves and the effect of core to wall ratio was noted. To examine their shapes and usrface characteristics, the microcapsules were observed with a scanning electron microscope. Release of the drug from microcapsules into pH 7.5 buffer medium was studied. The release pattern was found to have similar properties to the release of a drug from an insoluble porous matrix reported. The apparent diffusion coefficient of sulfisoxazole was measured for the transport of the drug from the core of microcapsules into the surronding sink condition. The apparent diffusion coefficient increased with increasing capsule size.

Design and Fabrication for the Development of Auto Pattern Maker (자동취형기 개발을 위한 설계 및 제작)

  • Purpose: To design and fabricate the auto pattern maker for the development. Methods: we got the necessary data, needed in design, by using CAD. Based on the these data, we fabricated the trial product for the development of the auto pattern maker. Results: The auto pattern maker were composed with combinations of many elements; pattern making assembly, control panel, frame attachment and prober unit. The pattern making assembly was comprised of the cutter, the pattern holder, pattern remover and silence cover which could minimize the sound during the cutting process. The control panel was designed to be connected and operated with the main printed circuit board. The prober could get the eye shape data by scanning of 1.8 degrees around the groove of the frame through the encoding data according to the address. After starting, scanning was carried out in two passes, i.e. one right-handed and one left-handed. Communication connector could send the eye shape data from auto pattern maker to outer system with the RS232C transmission system. By using the one-way analysis of variance, we got the error rate of cut pattern size for ${\Phi}22mm$, ${\Phi}55mm$ and ${\Phi}62mm$. Because F-value was 0.510 and p-value was 0.601, no statistically significant differences were found. Also, the mean cutting error of the auto pattern maker was 0.0274 mm. Conclusions: we could succeed in making the trial product by applying it to the development of the auto pattern maker. The role of this auto pattern maker is to find a exact required size of lens to fit the frame by measuring the frame. The acquired data are transferred to outer system for grinding and finishing with patternless process. Also, the trial product can produce pattern to fit the frame. Therefore, it was confidently expected that the optometrists could handily produce pattern to fit the frame with this trial product and dispense the ophthalmic lens because of its efficiency and convenience compared to the past.

Briefs Pattern Making for Women in their 20's using 3D Parametric Human Body Model (3차원 파라메트릭 모델을 활용한 20대 성인 여성용 브리프 패턴 설계)

  • This study was designed to generate briefs pattern for women in their twenties using 3D parametric body model. 151 women in their 20's were random sampled and measured using Martine's anthropometry. And one subject was chosen as the representative subject for 3D scanning. Parametric model was generated of using CATIA P3, Unigraphics NX4.0, Rapidform 2006. And the 3D surface of parametric body model was flattened onto the 2D plane. 3 downscale ratios(0%, 10%, 15%) were applied to generated pattern to figure out what downscale ratio was suitable to make briefs with stretch fabric. 4 kinds of experimental briefs were made with stretch fabrics(0%, 10%, 15% downscale) and worn on the dressform. Subjective evaluation on the appearance was done and the data was analyzed by ANOVA with post-hoc test. Briefs pattern was generated through the process of flattening the parametric surface and arranging the patches to make briefs pattern by dart manipulation. The different ration of outline and area between 3D surface and 2D pattern were 0.22% and 0.09% respectively. It showed that a parametric model could provide a desirable pattern with minute size error. The results of subjective evaluation on the appearance of 4 experimental briefs showed that stretch briefs with 15% downscale ratio was evaluated most highly in most items. Findings imply that it is feasible to apply 3D parametric model to generate patterns for various items considering various fabric properties.

  • In the environment of development of network bandwidth and intrusion technology there is limit to the pattern analysis of all massed packets through the existing pattern matching method by the intrusion detection system. To detect the packets efficiently when they are received fragmented, it has been presented the matching method only the pattern of packets consisting with the operation system such as Esnort. Pattern matching performance is improved through the use of NMAP, the basic mechanism od Esnort, by scanning the operation system of the same network system and appling pattern match selectively scanned information and the same operation system as the received packets. However, it can be appeared the case of disregarding the receivied packets depending on the diversity of the kind of operation systems and recognition mistake of operation system of nmap. In this paper, we present and verify the improved intrusion detection system shortening the pattern matching time by the creation of hashy table through the pattern hash of intrusion detection system independently with the users system environment .in the state of flux.

Experimental Study of Pattern Emboss Forming using an Electromagnetic Force (전자기력을 이용한 압인 패턴 성형의 실험적 연구)

  • Electromagnetic forming(EMF) is one of the high-speed forming methods, and has been used to deform metal sheets. The advantages of electromagnetic forming are reduced wrinkling due to non-contact characteristic and fine formability because of the high speed impact. In the current study, we suggest the application of electromagnetic forming to emboss pattern shapes using electromagnetic forces with only one forming coil and one punch. The high impact of the sheet at speeds of 100~300m/s produces significant coining pressure. In the current paper, electromagnetic forming was applied to Al 1100-O sheets; with thickness of 1.27mm and an area of $40mm{\times}40mm$. Using a single spiral coil, totally different types of patterns were created. Four different patterns were successfully produced on the aluminum sheet. The length and depth of the patterns were measured by three-dimensional scanning. Comparisons to the die shape showed good agreement. The test results confirm that emboss pattern forming by EMF using a single die can be used to replace the costly conventional method.

  • The epitaxial GaN layer of $120{\mu}m$ ~ $300{\mu}m$ thickness with a stripe Ti mask pattern is performed by hydride vapor phase epitaxy(HVPE). Ti strpie mask pattern is deposited by DC magnetron sputter on GaN epitaxial layer of $3{\mu}m$ thickness is grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy(HVPE). Void are observed at point of Ti mask pattern when GaN layer is investigated by scanning electron microscope. The Crack of GaN layer is observed according to void when it is grown more thick GaN layer. The full width at half maximum of peak which is measured by X-ray diffraction is about 188 arcsec. It is not affected its crystallization by Ti meterial when GaN layer is overgrown on Ti stripe mask pattern according as it is measure FWHM of overgrowth GaN using Ti material against FWHM of first growth GaN epitaxial layer.

  • Fm (Focused ion beam) system is one of the most important equipments for the nano-scale machining. Various researches have been performed, since it can etch the material and deposit 3-D structure with high-aspect-ratio in the nanometer scale. In spite of those researches, the definite method for the reliability of FIB system has not been reported. In this paper, we proposed the reliability assessment method through nano-pattern fabrication. In the fabricated nano-pattern, the characteristics of FIB system are included. Using this effect, we tried to assess the FIB reliability. First, we suggested reliability assessment items and nano-patterns. And, to know the suitableness of the proposed method, we fabricated several nano-patterns using Nova200(FEI Company) and SMI2050(SEIKO) which are FIB apparatuses. The fabricated nano-patterns are measured with SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and compared with designed dimensions. And the compared results showed that the proposed method is suitable for the assessment of FIB system reliability.
