A Bifurcation Analysis of Space Structures by Using 3D Beam-Column Element Considering Finite Deformations and Bowing Effect (유한변형과 굽힘효과가 고려된 3차원 보-기둥요소에 의한 공간구조물의 분기좌굴해석)

  • The present paper briefly describes the space frame element and the fundamental strategies in computational elastic bifurcation theory of geometrically nonlinear, single load parameter conservative elastic spatial structures. A method for large deformation(rotation) analysis of space frame is based on an eulerian formulation, which takes into consideration the effects of large joint translations and rotations with finite deformation(rotation). The local member force-deformation relationships are based on the beam-column approach, and the change in member chord lengths caused by axial strain and flexural bowing are taken into account. and the derived geometric stiffness matrix is unsymmetric because of the fact that finite rotations are not commutative under addition. To detect the singular point such as bifurcation point, an iterative pin-pointing algorithm is proposed. And the path switching mode for bifurcation path is based on the non-negative eigen-value and it's corresponding eigen-vector. Some numerical examples for bifurcation analysis are carried out for a plane frame, plane circular arch and space dome structures are described.

Analysis on the RFI Noise Path of Electrical Railway System in the Frequency Range of 9 kHz to 150 kHz (전기철도 시스템의 9~150 kHz 대역에서의 RFI 노이즈 전달 경로 분석)

  • The interaction of magnetic field in the frequency range of 9~150 kHz radiating from a railway system with wireless systems has been the cause of radio frequency interference. In this paper, the equivalent circuit model of the RFI noise is proposed through source and transfer path analysis, and it is confirmed that the switching noise of several kHz that occurs a vehicle traction drive system and a substation is radiated by forming the loop circuit with a feeder line by a rolling stock. And the validity of the proposed equivalent circuit model is verified by analyzing the effects of RC banks installed in the real railway between Guri and Guksu stations, the RFI noise can be effectively mitigated by loading suitable capacitance between rail and feeding line.

Performance Analysis of Space-time Coded MIMO System with Discrete-rate Adaptive Modulation in Ricean Fading Channels

  • The performance of a MIMO system with adaptive modulation (AM) and space-time coding over Ricean fading channels for perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI) is presented. The fading gain value is partitioned into a number of regions by which the modulation is adapted according to the region the fading gain falls in. Under a target bit error rate (BER) constraint, the switching thresholds for AM are given. Based on these results, we derive the calculation formulae of the theoretical spectrum efficiency (SE) and average BER. As a result, closed-form SE expression and accurate BER expression are respectively obtained. Besides, using the approximation of complementary error function, a tightly closed-form approximation of average BER is also derived to simplify the calculation of accurate theoretical BER. Computer simulation shows that the theoretical SE and BER are in good agreement with the corresponding simulation, and the approximate BER is also close to the accurate one. The results show that the AM scheme in Ricean fading channel provides better SE than that in Rayleigh fading channel due to the direct-path propagation, and has performance degradation in SE and BER for imperfect CSI.

  • I propose a RZETA network consisted of switching elements(SEs) that have regular links and alternate links. A modified Zeta nework used for the RZETA network's regular links and a MIN used for its alternate links are generated using the graph theory. The RZETA network is driven from merging the formaer and latter MINs. A necessary and sufficient condition for modified Zeta network to be a nonblocking network is also presented. This condition is a ufficient condition for RZETA network with a faulty link or a faulty SE to be nonblocked. Performance of the RZETA network is analyzed by modification of the model of 2-dilated Banyan network and its performance is compared with existing redundant path networks, when packet arrival rate of each source is 1.

Robust and Unity Input Power Factor Control Scheme for Electric Vehicle Battery Charger (전기차 배터리 충전기용 강인한 단위 입력 역률 제어장치)

  • This study develops a digital control scheme with power factor correction for a front-end converter in an electric vehicle battery charger. The front-end converter acts as the boost-type switching-mode rectifier. The converter assumes the two roles of the battery charger, which include power factor control and robust charging performance. The proposed control scheme consists of a charging control algorithm and a grid current control algorithm. The scheme aims to obtain unity input power factor and robust performance. Based on the linear average model of the converter, a constant-current constant-voltage charging control algorithm that passes through only one proportional-integral controller and a current feed-forward path is proposed. In the current control algorithm, we utilized a second band pass filter, a single-phase phase-locked loop technique, and a duty-ratio feed-forward term to control the grid current to be in phase with the grid voltage and achieve pure sinusoidal waveform. Simulations and experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, both simulations and experiments.

  • In this paper, we propose a new class of MIN (Multistage Interconnection Network) called SCMIN(ShortCut MIN) which can form a cheap and efficient packet switching interconnection network. SCMIN satisfies full access capability(FAC) and has multiple redundant paths between processor-memory pairs even though SCMIN is constructed with 2.5N-4 SEs which is far fewer SEs than that of MINs. SCMIN can be constructed suitable for localized communication by providing the shortcut path and multiple paths inside the processor-memory cluster which has frequent data communications. Therefore, SCMIN can be used as an attractive interconnection network for parallel applications with a localized communication pattern in shared-memory multiprocessor systems.

  • The paper proposes a novel ZVZCS PWM converter. It enables the main switch to be turned on/off with both zero voltage and zero current, the auxiliary switch to be turned on/off with ZCS, the rectifier diode to be turned on/off with ZVS. Moreover, this proposed soft switching technique is suitable for not only minority carrier device but also majority carrier semiconductor device. Since auxiliary resonant circuit of the proposed boost converter is placed out of the main power path, therefore, there are no voltage and current stresses on the main switch and diode. The operation of the proposed boost converter is explained and analyzed theoretical and experimentally, from a prototype operating at 100KHz.

A Medium-Voltage Matrix Converter Topology for Wind Power Conversion with Medium Frequency Transformers

  • A new type of topology with medium-frequency-transformer (MFT) isolation for medium voltage wind power generation systems is proposed in this paper. This type of converter is a high density power conversion system, with high performance features suitable for next generation wind power systems in either on-shore or off-shore applications. The proposed topology employs single-phase cascaded multi-level AC-AC converters on the grid side and three phase matrix converters on the generator side, which are interfaced by medium frequency transformers. This avoids DC-Link electrolytic capacitors and/or resonant L-C components in the power flow path thereby improving the power density and system reliability. Several configurations are given to fit different applications. The modulation and control strategy has been detailed. As two important part of the whole system, a novel single phase AC-AC converter topology with its reliable six-step switching technique and a novel symmetrical 11-segment modulation strategy for two stage matrix converter (TSMC) is proposed at the special situation of medium frequency chopping. The validity of the proposed concept has been verified by simulation results and experiment waveforms from a scaled down laboratory prototype.

  • The Distribution System consist of many tie-line switches and sectionalizing switches, operated a radial type. When an outage occurs in Distribution System, outage areas are isolated by system switches, has to restored as soon as possible. At this time, system operator have to get a information about network topology for service restoration of outage areas. Therefore, the searching result of restorative topology has to fast computation time and reliable result topology for to restore a electric service to outage areas, equal to optimal switching operation problem. So, the problem can be defined as combinatorial optimization problem. The service restoration problem is so important problem which have outage area minimization, outage loss minimization. Many researcher is applying to the service restoration problem with various techniques. In this paper, advanced Dijkstra algorithm is applied to searching a restoration topology, is so efficient to searching a shortest path in graph type network. Additionally, fuzzy rules and operator are applied to overcome a fuzziness of correlation with input data. The present technique has superior results which are fast computation time and searching results than previous researches, demonstrated by example distribution model system which has 3 feeders, 26 buses. For a application capability to real distribution system, additionally demonstrated by real distribution system of KEPCO(Korea Electric Power Corporation) which has 8 feeders and 140 buses.

LASER WELDING APPLICATION IN CAR BODY MANUFACTURING

  • Laser welding application for car body manufacturing has many advantages in the stiffness and the lightness of vehicle, the productivity of assembly line, and the degree of freedom in design. This presentation will express the innovation of car body manufacturing including parameter optimization, process modeling, and system integration. In this application the investment for systems was cut down dramatically by real time switching over the laser path between two welding stations. Points of technical discussion are as follows: optimization of parameters such as laser power, robot speed and trajectory, compact and useful design of jig & fixture to assure welding quality for 3 sheet-layer zinc-coated steel, system integration between 4kW Nd:YAG laser device and the other systems, on-line real time welding quality monitoring system, perfect safety standards for high power laser, minimization of consumption costs such as arc lamp, protective glass for optic, etc. Laser welding has found a place on Hyundai's production plant in conjunction with the startup of mass production of new sports car, and this production system is the result of a collaboration of its engineers. Outer side sheets are joined to inner side sheets by 122 stitch welds totally. And the length is about 2.4meter.
