  • The most common structure of the current transformer (CT) consists of a length of wire wrapped many times around a silicon steel ring passed over the circuit being measured. Therefore, the primary circuit of CT consists of a single turn of the conductor, with a secondary circuit of many tens or hundreds of turns. The primary winding may be a permanent part of the current transformer, with a heavy copper bar to carry the current through the magnetic core. However, when the large current flows into a wire, it is difficult to measure its magnitude of current because the core is saturated and the core shows magnetic nonlinear characteristics. Therefore, we proposed a newly designed CT which has an air gap in the core to decrease the generated magnetic flux. Adding the air gap in the magnetic path increases the total magnetic reluctance against the same magnetic motive force (MMF). Using a ferrite core instead of steel also causes the generation of low magnetic flux. These features can protect the magnetic saturation of the CT core compared with the steel core. This technique can help the design of the CT to obtain a special shape and size.

  • Gallium nitride (GaN) is a promising material for next-generation high-power applications due to its wide bandgap, high breakdown field, high electron mobility, and good thermal conductivity. From a structure point of view, the vertical device is more suitable to high-power applications than planar devices because of its area effectiveness. However, it is challenging to obtain a completely upright vertical structure due to inevitable sidewall slope in anisotropic etching of GaN. In this letter, we design and analyze the enhancement-mode n-channel vertical GaN MOSFET with variation of sidewall gate angle by two-dimensional (2D) technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulations. As the sidewall slope gets closer to right angle, the device performances are improved since a gradual slope provides a leakage current path through the bulk region.

  • High manganese steel was maintained stability of Non-Magnetics performance. Fatigue tests were carried out under constant stress amplitude, using a non-magnetic high manganese steel. The fatigue crack growth mechanism of the high manganese steel was clarified from results such as observation of crack growth path and fracture surface. The result of getting this study was shown as following: 1) Remarkably ${\Delta}Kth$ of the high manganese steel is big with about 3 times of the general steel product. 2) In the low ${\Delta}K$ value region, da/dN is dependent on Kmax, and in the high ${\Delta}K$ value region, it is dependent on ${\Delta}Keff$. The reason of this behavior is crack closure due to fracture surface roughness and fretting oxide. 3) It seems to ease the stress concentration of crack tip crack growth behavior in the ${\Delta}Kth$ vicinity by the generation of the secondary crack.

  • This study deals with the method of post-processing in the automatic tool path generation for 5-axis NC machining. The 5-axis NC machining cannot only cope with the manufacturing of complicated shapes, but also offers numerous advantages such as reasonable tool employment, great reduction of set-up process and so on. Thus 5-axis NC machining has been used for aircraft parts, mold and die as well as for complicated shapes such as impeller, propeller and rotor. However, most of the present CAM systems for 5-axis NC machining have limited functions in terms of tool collision, machine limits and post-processing. Especially 5-axis machine configurations are various according to the method which the rotational axes are adapted with the table and spindle. For that reason, In many cases the optimal numerical control (NC) data cannot be obtained or considerable time is consumed. To solve this problem, we applied a general post-processor for 5-axis NC machining. The validity of this post-processor should be experimentally confirmed by successfully milling to a helix shaped workpiece.

  • In recent years, technology is rapidly changing to support new service consumption and distribution models in multimedia service systems and hybrid delivery of media services is a key factor for enabling next generation multimedia services. This phenomenon can lead to rapidly increasing network traffic and ultimately has a direct and aggravating effect on the user's quality of service (QOS). To address the issue, we propose a novel system architecture to provide smart hybrid media services efficiently. The architecture is designed to apply the software-defined networking (SDN) method, detect changes in traffic, and combine the data, including user data, service features, and computation node status, to provide a service schedule that is suitable for the current state. To this end, the proposed architecture is based on 2-level scheduling, where Level-1 scheduling is responsible for the best network path and a computation node for processing the user request, whereas Level-2 scheduling deals with individual service requests that arrived at the computation node. This paper describes the overall concept of the architecture, as well as the functions of each component. In addition, this paper describes potential scenarios that demonstrate how this architecture could provide services more efficiently than current media-service architectures.

  • As the number of systems increases and the network size increases, automated attack prediction systems are urgently needed to respond to cyber attacks. In this study, we developed four types of information gathering sensors for collecting asset and vulnerability information, and developed technology to automatically generate attack graphs and predict attack targets. To improve performance, the attack graph generation method is divided into the reachability calculation process and the vulnerability assignment process. It always keeps up to date by starting calculations whenever asset and vulnerability information changes. In order to improve the accuracy of the attack target prediction, the degree of asset risk and the degree of asset reference are reflected. We refer to CVSS(Common Vulnerability Scoring System) for asset risk, and Google's PageRank algorithm for asset reference. The results of attack target prediction is displayed on the web screen and CyCOP(Cyber Common Operation Picture) to help both analysts and decision makers.

  • It is not easy to monitor and identify all engine faults and conditions using conventional fault detection approaches like the GPA (Gas Path Analysis) method due to the nature and complexity of the faults. This study therefore focuses on a model based diagnostic method using Neural Network algorithms proposed for fault detection on a turbo shaft engine (PW 206C) selected as the power plant for a tilt rotor type unmanned aerial vehicle (Smart UAV). The model based diagnosis should be performed by a precise performance model. However component maps for the performance model were not provided by the engine manufacturer. Therefore they were generated by a new component map generation method, namely hybrid method using system identification and genetic algorithms that identifies inversely component characteristics from limited performance deck data provided by the engine manufacturer. Performance simulations at different operating conditions were performed on the PW206C turbo shaft engine using SIMULINK. In order to train the proposed BPNN (Back Propagation Neural Network), performance data sets obtained from performance analysis results using various implanted component degradations were used. The trained NN system could reasonably detect the faulted components including the fault pattern and quantity of the study engine at various operating conditions.

  • Convenient analytical tools for evaluation of the aperiodic and the fluctuating instabilities of the passive residual heat removal system (PRHRS) of an integral reactor are developed and results are discussed from the viewpoint of the system design. First, a static model for the aperiodic instability using the system hydraulic loss relation and the downcomer feedwater heating equations is developed. The calculated hydraulic relation between the pressure drop and the feedwater flow rate shows that several static states can exist with various numbers of water-mode feedwater module pipes. It is shown that the most probable state can exist by basic physical reasoning, that there is no flow rate through the steam-mode feedwater module pipes. Second, a dynamic model for the fluctuating instability due to steam generation retardation in the steam generator and the dynamic interaction of two compressible volumes, that is, the steam volume of the main steam pipe lines and the gas volume of the compensating tank is formulated and the D-decomposition method is applied after linearization of the governing equations. The results show that the PRHRS becomes stabilized with a smaller volume compensating tank, a larger volume steam space and higher hydraulic resistance of the path $a_{ct}$. Increasing the operating steam pressure has a stabilizing effect. The analytical model and the results obtained from this study will be utilized for PRHRS performance improvement.

  • Existing mobility support scheme like MIPv4 has the delay at data transfer and Triangle routing problem. This paper proposes the new mobility support scheme and method that can overcome the problem using MPLS LSP in Next Generation Network. The proposed scheme overcomes the problem by introducing the LMS(Location Management Server) managing the location of the mobile terminal and the MPLS LSP between FA for a tunneling. We shows on the mathematical analysis using the queuing theory that this proposed scheme is more superior to the existing method(MIP).

  • We consider the heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem (HVRP), a variant of the classical vehicle routing problem (VRP). The HVRP differs from the classical VRP in that it deals with a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles having various capacities, fixed costs, and variables costs. Therefore the HVRP is to find the fleet composition and a set of routes with minimum total cost. We give an integer programming formulation of the problem and propose an algorithm to solve it. Although the formulation has exponentially many variables, we can efficiently solve the linear programming relaxation of it by using the column generation technique. To generate profitable columns we solve a shortest path problem with capacity constraints using dynamic programming. After solving the linear programming relaxation, we apply a branch-and-bound procedure. We test the proposed algorithm on a set of benchmark instances. Test results show that the algorithm gives best-known solutions to almost all instances.
