Various sizes of dolerite sills occur in the Mungyong area, one of well-exposed areas in Okchon belt. All of previous geochemical studies concluded that chemical variations of basic rocks, so-called Sangnae-ri amphibolite, result from the fractional crystallization. The second sill, which is a well differentiated one in the Sangnae-ri area, displays systematic compositional variation associated with gradual change of grain size in vertical sections. In order to clarify the chemical variation in the sill, whether chemical composition of each part of the sill is appropriately derived from the original liquid (represented by the average composition) by addition or subtraction of initial phenocystic minerals are tested(Iwamori program, 1989). According to the calculation, it is shown that major vertical chemical variation of the sill resulted from the accumulation of phenocrysts(olivine, clinopyrxoene, plagioclase, titanomagnetite) which already existed at the time of emplacement or formed just after the emplacement.
Ebsteins anomaly is a rare congenital cardiac malformation that is the downward displacement of the septal and posterior leaflets of the tricuspid valve into the ventricular apex, aresulting in the formation of an atrialized portion of the right ventricle. In most patients, symptoms such as cyanosis and progressive heart failure occur during the adolescence or young adulthood. The associated anomalies include ventricular septal defect, transposition of the great arteries, and malformation of the mitral valve. An 8-months-old male with Ebsteins anomaly, ventricular septal defect, and duplication of the mitral valve orifice successfully underwent operation with VSD patch closure. Postoperatively, cardiac size was significantly reduced and tricuspid regurgitation was trivial in echocardiography He has been doing well without any cardiac medication during the 18 months follow up after operation.
A 52 day-old male infant who had Taussig-Bing anomaly with coarctation of the aorta underwent initial palliative Damus-Kaye-Stansel (DKS) procedure including arch reconstruction because of suspected intramural coronary artery, size discrepancy of great arteries, potential subaortic stenosis, refractory pneumonia, and severe congestive heart failure. Total repair was done 44 months later, which was composed of VSD patch closure, DKS take-down, and arterial switch procedure, We report a successful case of DKS take-down and arterial switch operation for the reuse of native aortic and pulmonary valves rather than Rastelli-type procedure in a patient with Taussig-Bing anomaly having palliative DKS procedure.

The objective of this study was to delineate forest patches in the cities around the Geum-buk mountains at the north of the Geum River using multiplesatellite remote sensing data. Landsat visible and near-infrared satellite images obtained at multiple dates in the growing season were used to create a forest distribution map. Fragstats 3.3 was used to get the landscape indices delineating the distribution of forest patches. Additional ground truth data was used to assess the accuracy of the classification. Factor analysis was used to get the 26 landscape indices clustered into 4 factors. Factor I was labeled as' size of forest patches', factor II as 'fragmentation of forest patches', factor III as 'shape of forest patches', and factor IV as 'complexity of forest patches'. Factor I described large patches and their core area, while others did small patches and their shape and complexity. Cities including Cheonan, Gongju, Cheongyang, and Boryeong near the main ridge of the Geumbuk Mtns. had a small number of large-sized forest patches. However, cities including Taean, Seosan, Dangjin, Hongseong near the ridge of the western Geumbuk Mtns. had a large number of small-sized forest patches. Finally, this study showed that the region near the coast line in Chung-nam province has various types of forest patches having an irregular forest edge due to the elevation and slope lower than the one of the region far from the coast line which is near the ridge of the Geum-buk Mountains. Remote sensing data were useful to understand the distribution of forest patches, and landscape indices could be keys to delineate the relationship between forest patches. And the factor analysis, which simplified 26 landscape indices into 4 landscape patterns allowed us to understand the distribution and relationship of forest patches in an easy way.
Some tricuspid valve endocarditis can be controlled effectively with specific antibiotic treatment. However, surgical intervention Is necessary when there are continuing sepsis, moderate or severe heart failure, multiple pulmonary emboli, and echocardiographycally demonstrated vegitations. We are repoting a 19 year-old male patient who was admitted for the treatment of infective endocarditis. He previously had an operation for ventriculer septal defect (perimembranous type) about 9 years ago . An echocardiogram showed a large vegetation on the anterior cusp area and a left to right shunt through VSD, which was previously closed with dacron patch. A valve replacement in addition to antibiotic therapy was recommended for the patient. The patient underwent on operation : tricuspid valve replacement was done with 51. Jude medical valve prosthesis (33 mm), and in addition to above procedure, removal of vegetation and direct closure of VSD were done Postoperative echocardiogram showed that replaced tricuspid valve functioned well and vegeta ion and shunt flow were not observed. The patient recovered without complication and discharged at Postoperative day 25. Early aggressive surgical intervention is indicated to optimize surgical results, and this case seems to be a typical right sided bacterial endocarditis, which is caused by residual VSD. We are reporting a case of tricuspid valve endocarditis with a review of the literature. (Korean J Thorax Cardiovasc Surg 1996 ; 29: 440-3)

Many novel designs of planar antennas for related applications such as internal mobile phone antennas, base station antennas, WLAN or Bluetooth antennas, and so on, have been reported very recently, especially since the year 2000. In this thesis, Dualband internal antenna for GSM/DSC handset is proposed. The antenna has a size of about 38mm$\times$90mm$\times$1mm, giving a total mobile phone PCB for support and fold type Patch of about 30mm$\times$8mm$\times$3.2mm. This antenna characteristic facilitates the fine-tuning of the two operating frequencies of 909MHz and 1762MHz in this dualband design. The measured radiation pattern in the E-plane and H-plane for operating frequencies of 909MHz and 1762MHz is compared and analyzed. The designed and fabricated two band internal antenna for GSM/DSC handset have a gain between 0dBi and 2.0dBi at all bands.
Studies on the distribution and growth of the mud mussel, Musculista senhousia, were carried out in the mud-tidal flat near Mokpo from August 1996 to July 1997. The patch distribution of the mussel was observed in the middle part of the tidalflat during the study period. Annual mean density was 8,215${\pm}$1,394 ind./m2 and annual mean biomass was 1,966.43${\pm}$668.49 g TWwt/m2 in total wet weight, 760.04${\pm}$279.13 gMWwt/m2 in meat wet weight, 209.93 ${\pm}$ 49.41 gMDwt/m2 in meat dry weight, and 109.66${\pm}$58.78 gAFDW/m2 in ash-free dry weight. The monthly mean size of shell length varied from 11.00 mm to 16.97 mm. Relationship between shell length (SL) and shell height (SH) showed a positively significant regression (SH=0.482SL+0.791, R2=0.940, P<0.001). Regressions of total wet weight (TWwt) (TWwt=7.601${\times}$10-5SL3.052, R2=0.905, P<0.001), and meat wet weight (MWwt) (MWwt=1.127${\times}$10-5${\times}$SL3.404, R2=0.784, P<0.001) on shell length were positively allometric, with highly significant correlation coefficient. The relationships between SL and meat dry weight (MDwt), and AFDW were MDwt=9.813${\times}$10-6${\times}$SL2.928 (R2=0.421), and AFDW=1.015${\times}$10-5${\times}$SL2.922(R2=0.810), respectively. The condition factor of the mussel has been increased from March and formed a peak in July and August. It was sharply dropped in September. These results suggest that the gonadal development of the species commenced to be occurred in spring and that main spawning occurred between August and September.

Commute time embedding involves computing the spectral decomposition of the graph Laplacian. It requires the computational burden proportional to $o(n^3)$, not suitable for large scale dataset. Many methods have been proposed to accelerate the computational time, which usually employ the Nystr${\ddot{o}}$m methods to approximate the spectral decomposition of the reduced graph Laplacian. They suffer from the lost of information by dint of sampling process. This paper proposes to reduce the errors by approximating the spectral decomposition of the graph Laplacian using that of the affinity matrix. However, this can not be applied as the data size increases, because it also requires spectral decomposition. Another method called approximate commute time embedding is implemented, which does not require spectral decomposition. The performance of the proposed algorithms is analyzed by computing the commute time on the patch graph.
In order to investigate the rates and factors of slow mass movement on a subalpine slope of Mount Halla, two painted stone lines were monitored in a bare patch at 1,710 m a.s.l. The mean movement of surface gravels is 58.2 cm, equivalent to 0.24 cm/day. However, the rates of movement vary with seasons. Compared with 0.05 cm/day of a non-frozen season, a frozen season shows 0.3 cm/day. It implies that the movement of surface gravels could be largely controlled by periglacial processes during a frozen season. In particular, frost creep including needle ice creep plays a main role in the movement of gravels under the thermal and soil conditions which are favorable for needle ice development. Since line II is located at a steeper slope than line I, the movement of line II was always larger than that of line I. However, slope gradient is not the most dominant factor contributing the movement of gravels, which can be interrupted by downslope big gravels and vegetation patches. The size and specific weight of gravels also can influence the movement of gravels. Porous and light scoriae result in relatively quick movement of gravels on the subalpine slope of Mount Halla.
The floc formation, breakage and reformation of humic acid by inorganic (alum and PAC) and organic coagulants (cationic polyelectrolytes) at several conditions (pH, ionic strength and floc breakage time) were examined and compared among the coagulants at different conditions using a continuous optical monitoring method, with controlled mixing and stirring conditions. For alum, the shapes of formation, breakage and reformation curves at different pH (5 and 7) were different, but the shapes and the sizes of initial floc and reformed floc were nearly the same in the absence and presence of electrolytes at pH 7. For PAC, similar shapes of the curves were obtained at different pH and ionic strength, but the sizes were different, except for those of reformed flocs at different pH. However, for these coagulants, reformed flocs after floc breakage, occurred irreversibly for all the conditions used in this study. For organic coagulants, the time to attain the initial plateau floc size, the extent of floc strength at high shear rate and reversibility of reformed floes were different, depending floc formation mechanism. Especially, for the cationic polyelectrolyte forming humic flocs by charge neutralization or electrostatic patch effect mechanism, reformed flocs occurred reversibly, regardless of pH and floc breakage time, but occurred irreversibly in the presence of electrolytes.
