  • Noise control in underwater environments is an entirely different beast from its airborne counterpart, partly because of the orders-of-magnitude difference in density and compressibility between water and air. One of the most popular systems ever used for (passive) noise reduction under water is an anechoic coating known as "alberich," which was developed by the German during the Second World War and are still used today in naval applications. This talk looks back on some recent developments in underwater noise control, ranging from acoustic metamaterials to active noise control techniques, specifically geared to achieving underwater invisibility.

  • Many analytical and experimental studies on the active suppression of nonlinear panel flutter by using piezoceramic patch have been carried out. However, these active control methods have a few important problems; a large amount of power is required to operate actuators, and additional apparatuses such as sensor systems and controller are needed. In this study passive suppression schemes for nonlinear flutter of composite panel, which is believed to be more robust suppression system than active control in practical operation, are proposed by using piezoelectric inductor-resistor series shunt circuit. Toward the end, a finite element equation of motion for an electromechanically coupled system is proposed using the Hamilton's principle. To achieve the best damping effect, optimal shape and location of the piezoceramic(PZT) patches are determined by using genetic algorithms. The results clearly demonstrate that the passive damping scheme by using piezoelectric shunt circuit can effectively attenuate the flutter.

  • In this study, a new modified independent modal space control (IMSC), which relaxes the fundamental hardware limitation of IMSC, is suggested to handle vibration control problems using a virtual passive controller. This method has adapted a new stable switching algorithm between controlled modes and a virtual vibration absorber as a virtual passive controller in the independent modal space. It has been found that the new modified IMSC suggested in this paper, which can reduce the number of actuators, is shown to be simple and efficient in a realistic example of vibration control of a cantilever beam.

  • Topology optimization of improved passive shock isolator by controlling its force-deflection relation is proposed. And the final design which is optimized using topology optimization is obtained using shape optimization. The proposed methods are applied to a numerical example using two dimensional-axisymmetric condition. And the performance of finally optimized design is verified through transient analysis using LS-DYNA. The ballistic shock isolator model is developed as a result of topology optimization. The optimized design has more improved shock absorbing capability comparing to the linear shock isolator by about 20%.

  • The flexural vibration of laminated composite beams with passive constrained layer damping has been investigated to design structure with maximum possible damping capacity. The equations of motion are derived for flexural vibrations of symmetrical, multi-layer laminated beams. The damping ratio and modal damping of the first bending mode are calculated by means of Iterative complex eigensolution method. This paper addresses a design strategy of laminated composite under flexural vibrations.

  • Underwater radiated noise is one of the vital factors in underwater weapon systems like submarine. A passive elastic mount is an effective reduction method for the vibration from a ship-board machinery transmitted to the hull which is radiated as noise outside the hull. A passive elastic mount shows the limitation on the vibration reduction and needs multi stage mounting system including double stage one to meet the required underwater radiated noise criteria. It is necessary for the multi stage mounting system to consider the large displacement in the underwater shock explosion. So it is difficult to apply the multi stage mounting system in submarine because of space limitation. Also recent navy sonar system are trying to have the capability to detect the ship-borne acoustic signals in the low frequency range. An alternative to the passive mount is an active mount with moving-coil type electromagnetic actuator based on a conventional rubber mount in the low frequency range. In the previous paper, 4 active mounts with moving-coil type electromagnetic actuator based on the rubber mount were installed on the hard floor of the facility, which means no consideration on the elastic foundation effect for the control of the active mounts was taken into account. In this study, an experimental performance analysis on the active mount was carried out using 4 active mounts installed on the cylindrical structure to investigate the elastic foundation effect.

잠수함 수동소나 시뮬레이터 알고리즘 (An Algorithm for Submarine Passive Sonar Simulator)

  • 잠수함 소나 운용 요원의 능력을 향상시키기 위한 실제 해상 훈련은 많은 비용과 제약사항이 따른다. 소나 시뮬레이터는 이러한 문제점을 해결하고, 실제와 유사한 전장 환경을 모의함으로써 소나 운용 요원의 능력과 훈련 성과를 극대화시킨다. 본 연구에서는 수동 소나 시뮬레이터의 알고리즘을 제시하였으며, 알고리즘은 기동모듈, 소음원모듈, 소음 전달 모듈의 3가지 모듈로 나뉘었다. 기동모듈은 3차원 좌표계를 이용하여 함정의 기동을 구현하였으며, 시간 간격은 함정의 변침률에 따라 설정하였다. 소음원 모듈은 표적 소음, 해양 배경 소음, 자체소음으로 구성하였다. 표적 소음은 주파수 특성에 따라 비변조 협대역, 변조 협대역, 비변조 광대역, 변조 광대역 신호로 구분하였으며, 톤수와 속력에 의존하는 함정 방사소음 준위를 적용하였다. 해양 배경 소음은 음향도파관 효과가 고려된 바람 소음과 그외 배경 소음으로 모의하였으며, 자체소음은 유체소음과 소나돔 삽입 손실로 모의하였다. 소음 전달 모듈은 음선 기반의 모델을 이용하였으며, 기동 모듈의 각 시간에서 고유음선의 진폭, 위상, 시간지연을 합산하여 주파수 영역에서 표적 소음에 곱하였다. 최종적으로 시나리오에 따른 모의 결과 실제 해양에서 발생하는 소음과 유사한 경향을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • This paper theoretically demonstrates that our proposed method improves the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) of significantly increase the number of acceptable optical signals in FDMA(SCMA) systems. This method reduced Optical Beat Interference(OBI) by using CDMA.

  • A prosthetic knee for above-knee (AK) amputee is categorized into passive and active type. The passive prosthetic knee is generally made by elastic material. Although AK amputee can easily walk by using passive prosthetic leg, knee joint motions are not similar to ordinary persons. The active prosthetic leg can control the knee angle owing to the actuator and microprocessor. However, the active type is not cost-effective and the stability may be lost due to the malfunction of sensors. In order to resolve these disadvantages of passive and active type, a semi-active prosthetic knee which can control the knee angle is proposed in this work. The proposed semi-active one requires a less input energy but provides active type performance. In order to achieve this goal, in this work, a semi-active prosthetic knee using magneto-rheological (MR) damper for AK amputees is designed. The MR damper can support the weight of body by using less energy than actuator of active prosthetic. It can control knee angle by inducing the magnetic field at the time of stance phase. This salient characteristic is evaluated and presented in this work.

  • 정밀 시스템에 전달되는 진동은 시스템의 성능 저하 및 오작동을 초래할 수 있기 때문에 저감되어야 한다. 진동을 저감시키는 가장 일반적인 방법은 진동이 전달되는 경로에 수동 진동 절연 장치를 도입함으로 전달되는 진동을 절연시키는 방법이다. 탄성소자와 점성 감쇠기로 구성된 일반적인 수동 진동 절연 장치는 공진에서의 전달률을 낮추기 위해서 고주파수 대역에서 진동 절연 성능을 희생해야 하는 단점을 지니고 있다. 이 논문에서는 공진에서 낮은 전달률과 고주파수 대역에서 높은 진동 절연 성능을 동시에 가진 수동 진동 절연 장치들의 특성을 비교 분석하였다.
