South Korea and Vietnam have been engaged in extensive political, economic and cultural exchanges since the establishment of diplomaticties in 1992. In March 2018, Moon Jae-in, President of South Korea, made an official visit to Vietnam, a key partner of the New Southern Policy and discussed comprehensive cooperation measures, including expanding trade volume and measures to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula. At the defense ministers' meeting held in April 2018, the two countries signed a joint defense and defense cooperation statement, which included promotion of maritime security, defense cooperation, UN PKO activities, excavation of remains, and joint military cooperation. Currently, Vietnam is facing territorial disputes with China over the South China Sea, and is stepping up military modernization and military buildup to counter this. In particular, Vietnam is strengthening its external military cooperation beyond ideology with the U.S., Russia, India and France to strengthen its maritime power. Against this backdrop, the bilateral cooperation between South Korea and Vietnam needs to expand beyond the traditional economic and cultural exchanges to military cooperation. The study aims to review the relationship between South Korea and Vietnam on the 26th anniversary of the normalization of diplomaticties and seek ways to develop military cooperation with Vietnam, which has grown to the next China. To that end, it analyzed Vietnam's security environment and military strategy and presented strategies for promoting military cooperation focusing on defense areas.
The NISS (Near-infrared Imaging Spectrometer for Star formation history) onboard NEXTSat-1 was successfully launched on last December and is now under the operation phase. The capability of both imaging and spectroscopy is a unique function of the NISS. It has realized the imaging spectroscopy (R~20) with a wide field of view of $2{\times}2deg$. in a wide near-infrared range from 0.95 to $2.5{\mu}m$. The major scientific mission is to study the cosmic star formation history in the local and distant universe. It also demonstrated the space technologies related to the infrared spectro-photometry in space. The NISS is performing the imaging spectroscopic survey for local star-forming galaxies, clusters of galaxies, star-forming regions, ecliptic deep fields and so on. As an extension of the NISS, the SPEHREx (Spectro-Photometer for the History of the Universe Epoch of Reionization, and Ices Explorer) was selected as the NASA MIDEX (Medium-class Explorer) mission (PI Institute: Caltech). As an international partner, KASI will participate in the development and the science for SPHEREx. It will perform the first all-sky infrared spectro-photometric survey to probe the origin of our Universe, to explore the origin and evolution of galaxies, and to explore whether planets around other stars could harbor life. Compared to the NISS, the SPHEREx is designed to have a much wider FoV of $3.5{\times}11.3deg$. as well as wider spectral range from 0.75 to $5.0{\mu}m$. Here, we introduce the status of the two space missions.
Objective : Aphasia interferes with communication between the patient and conversation partner. Adequate communication is essential not only for the patient but also for caregiver education and training Method : This study examined the benefits of parental education and group training in terms of improving the communication of six aphasic patients and their caregivers(family members). Caregiver education provided caregivers with information on stroke and aphasia, and group training was conducted according to the experimental learning cycle. Result : As a result, communication increased in terms of sending and receiving messages or interactive communication. Furthermore, the questionnaire analysis showed that caregivers learned more about aphasia and had confidence in using facilitation strategies. Conclusion : Giving educational opportunities to patients and caregivers promotes caregiver's knowledge and positively interacts.
This study is to analyze the effects of both the bilateral FTA and a home and its trade partner's FTAs on the trade with 62 country-pair panel data over the period of 2003-2013 using the gravity model and the spatial autoregressive model. First, the study analyzes how the bilateral FTAs affect the trade using the gravity model and the spatial model. Next, the article analyzes how the home and its trade partners' FTAs affect their trade using only the spatial model under controlling the bilateral FTA. The empirical results are summarized as the followings: first, the spatial mode fits well more than the gravity model in analyzing the relationship between the bilateral FTA and trade. It implies that the spatial spillover effect of FTA is important in the international trade with FTA. Second, the bilateral FTA plays a role in expanding the trade between or among the FTA members as proved by the previous studies. Third, the more the home and its trade partners' FTAs, the more the bilateral trade are extended. Fourth, with the bilateral FTAs, as the home and its trade partners enter into more FTAs, the bilateral trade reduces due to trade diversion effects. In conclusion, this study provides a political implication that in order to increase the trade volume, a country enters into as many FTAs as possible because the effects of the bilateral FTAs would decrease.
Objectives : This study looked at the effects of chronic IPV on suicide ideation among married women in the country. Methods : This study used data from the five-year-old Korea Welfare Panel and analyzed using questions about verbal and physical violence, depression and suicide ideation that were investigated every year. Age, education, and economic levels, drinking, religion, chronic disease, satisfaction with family relationship, satisfaction with social relationship, were included as variables. Results : The five-year cumulative score of verbal violence had a statistically significant effect on the depressive symptom, and the relative risk was 1.180. The relative risk of five-year-old cumulative score of verbal violence in suicidal ideation was 1.276, and it was also significant even if they exclude the effects of depressive symptom. On the other hand, the five-year cumulative score of physical violence was found to have no significant impact on suicide ideation if they excluded the effects of depressive symptom. Conclusions : Unlike previous studies, this study found that chronic verbal IPVs increase suicide ideation, even though they do not contain effects of depression. Such findings suggest that intervention in IPV in married women may help reduce the nation's suicide rate.
The purpose of this study is to identify the moderating effect of each of the three stress response (problem-centered treatment, pursuit of social support, and positive thinking) in the effect of work-family conflict between dual-earner couples on marriage satisfaction. To this end, 369 married couples (369 wives, 369 husbands) who raise children under the age of 6 were surveyed on stress coping (problem-centered, social support, and positive thinking), work-family conflicts, and marriage satisfaction. Based on the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model (APIM), the collected data verified six research models by distinguishing the moderating effects of each of the three coping strategies from the direction of Work to Family conflict and Family to Work conflict. Interaction graphs were also presented to determine the pattern of significant buffering effects. As a result, first of all, the problem-oriented strategy of the wife buffer the negative impact of the husband's WFC on the husband's own and wife's marriage satisfaction. It was also found that problem-oriented strategy that husband himself uses to buffer the negative impact of the husband's FWC on his wife's marriage satisfaction. Second, the pursuit of social support confirmed that the negative effects of the husband's WFC on the husband's marriage satisfaction were mitigated by the pursuit of social support used by his wife. Third, in the case of positive thinking, the effect of the positive thinking on the husband's WFC on the marriage satisfaction of the husband and wife was shown, and the positive response effect of the wife's FWC conflict was also shown. Finally, based on the results of this study, the discussion and implications of the study were presented.

A brand community refers to a group of people who have a passion and loyalty for the brand, and is attracting attention as an effective marketing strategy to increase brand equity because it actively tends to support and promote the brand without expecting compensation. The objective of this study is to identify factors that are needed for sustainable brand community management. Existing studies on brand community management have mainly been conducted by quantitative methods measuring consumer satisfaction and dissatisfaction towards brand community activities, however, this study applied qualitative methods using means-end chains and laddering approaches in order to deeply identify a consumer's desired value on brand community activities. An in-depth interview of 41 members of BTS ARMY, a representative example of brand community, has been conducted and analyzed. The result of this study is as follows. In order to encourage active brand community activities, it is important to provide brand community members with a variety of high-quality brand-related content for a unique aesthetic experience, and a forum where all members can interact and exchange information and ideas to enhance brand value and experience. Finally, to nurture a strong brand community as a partner to co-create brand equity, rather than just a fan community, it is needed to build an environment that fosters opportunities for brand community members to increase self-respect and fulfillment through their brand community activities.
Government funded research institutes (GFRIs) maintain a cooperative relationship with companies and stably provide their resources through the family company system. They are thereby implementing a demand-oriented support system that responds to the needs of the company. This study analyzed the changes in corporate financial performance depending on the participation in family company system and customized support. For this purpose, 2,229 companies registered with the KITECH during 2015-2017 composed the "Family company group", and 80 companies that participated in the customized support were selected as the "customized support group". The effect of participation on the corporate financial performance was analyzed using the PSM-DID model. The analysis verified that companies in a cooperative relationship with GFRIs had a higher sales growth rate than others. Furthermore, when these companies received additional customized support, their OI and ROE were significantly improved. The value of this study lies in that it quantitatively analyzed the cooperation performance of partner companies following a sustainable SME-GRI relationship. In addition, it provides insight into the strategic support system for SMEs by confirming the necessity of a customized support based on the relationship.
This paper is a study to analyze when ISV(independent software company) has more active participation in the platform ecosystem. According to previous studies, companies are active in technological innovation when they can appropriate the outcome of innovation and when they have complementary assets (marketing, manufacturing capabilities, etc.) that can convert the innovation into value. The effect of these two conditions to join platform ecosystem is investigated. The duplication between the ISV's product portfolio and platform service is also included as an independent variable. The two sample groups are composed of independent SW companies that signed a partner agreement with platform companies and non-participating companies in the platform. As a result of empirical study, it is found that the patent rights do not affect participation in the platform. The ISVs might have believed that the benefits from cooperation with platform companies are greater than the risks of exposure to innovative technologies and unique Biz models. On the other hand, downstream's capability and the duplication of product portfolio affect participation in the platform. If ISVs have the downstream capability to transform cooperation into value creation, ISVs are actively participating in the platform. In addition, cooperation is active when the product portfolio is complementary to platform service rather than competition. This study is the empirical study of open innovation between Korean independent software companies and digital platform companies. There are similar prior studies abroad, but there are no similar studies in Korea. It is meaningful in that the determinants of platform ecosystem participation were investigated through empirical analysis by composing a sample group of companies participating in the platform ecosystem and companies not participating in the platform ecosystem.
