The removal procedure of particles in the atmosphere was simulated in the saturated and dry conditions to know the effect of the saturated atmosphere on the size distributions of particles. The particles were divided into 5 ranges, 0.0mm, 0.0∼0.65mm, 0.65∼2mm, 2∼10mm and more than 10mm, and the gases were classified into the smallest range for calculation. At the dry condition, particles grew only by the collision -coalescence and were removed by gravitation. The particles in the range of 2.0∼10mm fell mostly at the 30 km distance from the pollutant source because of gravitation. The particles larger than 10 pm were removed at the 10 km distance from the pollutant source because of their gravity. But the particles larger than 10pm appeared again at more than 30km distance. It is considered that they have been grown during the smaller particles had been advected and diffused at that distance, and it needed about 1 hour from the moment of release. At the saturated condition, particles grew by both the collision-coalescence and condensation. The model showed that the condensation makes more number of particles larger than 10mm and then the particles were removed due to their large gravity. Only a few particles existed at the range of 0.65∼10mm and larger thats 10mm. It is concluded that the saturated atmosphere is effective on removing PM-10.
A large fraction of urban $PM_{10}$ concentrations is due to non-exhaust traffic emissions including road dust, tire wear particles, and brake lining particles. Although potential health and environmental impacts associated with tire wear debris have increased, few environmentally and biologically relevant studies of actual tire wear debris have been conducted. Tire wear particles (TWP) are released from the tire tread as a result of the interaction between the tire and the pavement. Roadway particles (RP), meanwhile, are particles on roads composed of a mixture of elements from tires, pavements, fuels, brakes, and environmental dust. The main objective of present study is to identify the contribution of tires to the generation of RP and to assess the potential environmental and health impacts of this contribution. First, a mobile measurement system was constructed and used to measure the RP on asphalt roads according to vehicle speed. The equipment of the mobile system provides $PM_{10}$ concentrations by Dusttrak DRX and number density & size distribution measurements of fine and ultra-fine particles by a fast mobility particle sizer (FMPS) and an aerosol particle sizer (APS). When traveling on an asphalt road at constant speed, there is a clear tendency for $PM_{10}$ concentration to increase slightly in accordance with an increase in the vehicle speed. It was also found that considerable brake wear particles and particles from tire/road interface were generated by rapid deceleration of the vehicle. As a result, the $PM_{10}$ concentration and particle number of ultra-fine particles were measured to be very high.
During a twenty-day period in 2005, a nine-stage Andersen cascade impactor was used to determine the seasonal size distribution of atmospheric particles and its inorganic ion species sampled for 24hr in Iksan city, located southwest of the Korean peninsula. Samples were analyzed for major water-soluble ion species using Dionex-100 ion chromatograph. Average fine and coarse mass concentrations of atmospheric particles were, respectively, 31.4 and $82.6{\mu}g\;m^{-3}$ in spring and 35.8 and $73.4{\mu}g\;m^{-3}$ in fall-winter during the sampling period of 2005, while measurements of 69.8 and 9.9 were obtained in the sampling period of summer, The size distribution of particulate mass concentration during the non-Asian dust period was generally bimodal, whereas the size distribution of particulate mass concentration during the Asian dust period was unimodal due to the significant increase of coarse particles, which originated from long-range transport of soil dust particles from loess regions of the Asian continent. Among ionic species, $SO{_4}^{2-},\;NH{_4}^+,\;K^+$ were mainly distributed in fine particles due to their characteristics of emission sources and gas-to-particle conversion, while $Na^+,\;Mg^{2+}\;and\;Ca^{2+}$ were dominantly in coarse particles. However, $NO_3{^-}\;and\;Cl^-$ were distributed in both coarse particles and fine particles. Although $SO{_4}^{2-}$ was mainly distributed in fine particles, the size distributions of $SO{_4}^{2-}$ in coarse mode were significantly increased during the Asian dust events compared to those during the non-Asian dust period. $Ca^{2+}$ showed the most abundant species in the atmospheric particles during the Asian dust period. $NH{_4}^+$ was found to mainly exist as $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ in fine particles.

The driving properties of a particle-insertion method that filters non-moving particles are analyzed, by measuring its optical and electrical properties. An area that is occupied by the moved particles is proposed, as a desirable evaluation method for a reflective display. To compare the driving property of the particle-moving method with that of the reported simple particle-loading method, two panels are fabricated, according to the different particle-insertion methods, in the same panel condition, of which the width of ribs is $30{\mu}m$, the cell size is $220{\mu}m{\times}220{\mu}m$, the cell gap is $116-120{\mu}m$, the q/m value of the black particles is $+1.8{\mu}C/g$ and that for the white particles is $-4.3{\mu}C/g$. The particle-moving method has a filtering effect which excludes the non-moving particles, inserting only movable particles into the respective cell, so that a panel fabricated by the particle-moving method can drive most of the particles in a cell. Also, most of the particles move at the threshold voltage of 40 V, with enhanced reflectivity. The driving property is also verified by measurement of the occupation rate of the moved particles.
This study aims to describe a prosodic pattern on the Korean subjective particles with respect to their discourse function. 4 kinds of Korean subjective particles were mainly investigated with reference to sentential location, grammatical relations that precede or follow the word including subjective particles, and prosodic phrasing. F0 and energy were gradually diminished as the particles moved down to the sentential final position. 'Ga'particle, which has been potentially regarded as having a grammatical focusing function, looks like to show relatively higher F0 in sentential medial in discourse. At sentential medial position, when the words including 'ga, eun, and neun'particles were preceded by adverbials, the acoustic variables of particles tended to be diminished by some ratio in comparison with the mean value. The duration of particles might vary with respect to style variation and especially that it tended to diminish from 150 basic, 50 separate, and finally 50 discourse successively. And there's some specific phenomenon that prosodic phrasing itself was relatively easily taken place after 'eun' and 'neun' particles. Finally, I tried to catch the prosodic characteristics (which would be established as acoustic features) of inter-word position at which specific subjective particles were intervened. These acoustic features can be made up of the duration and F0 fluctuation activated in the successive 3 syllables in which word (or prosodic) boundary was located.
Anti-reflection film was coated by using spherical silica nano colloidal particles and fumed silica particles. Silica colloid sol was reserved between two inclined slide glasses by capillary force, and particles were stacked to form a film onto the substrate as the upper glass was sliding. The deposition processes were studied to enhance the wavelength dependency of the light transmittance and to control the effective refractive index of the film. Both of the spherical and fumed silica particles showed an enhancement of $4.0-4.4\%$ in light transmittance by one step coating. The dependence of the transmittance on wavelength was largely improved at the longer wavelength by partial coating of fumed particles on the film of spherical particles. The effective refractive index of the film was controlled by removing latex particles that were co-deposited with silica particles. Using this process the light reflectance from one side of the glass substrate could be reduced from $4.2\%$ to $0.6\%$ although zero reflectance was not achieved due to the agglomeration of the latex particles.
Codeposion of inert particles particles in a metallic mateix by electroless plating process involves two phenomena. Firstly, the adsorption of inercles and secondly, the adsorption of inert particles on the cathode. In the present paper the first adsorption phenomenon and in the next paper the second ane are studied in greaterdetail for the Ni-SiCc, Ni-Al2AO3 and Ni-WC systems. Measurements of the Zeta potentials for the SiC and Al2AO3 particles have been in different electrolyte solutions and the ionic species adsorbed on the Particles studied. The addition of sodium acetate, trisodium citrate and sodium phosphinate to nikel sulface sruomotes the zeta potential of SiC and Al2O3 particles, but zeta phosphinate to nickel is more positive than Al2O3 particles although the amount of nickel ion adsorbrd on the Al2O3 particles become greater than that of SiC particles. It is suggested that this is due to adsortion of Na ion onto the surface SiC particles.
In order to comprehension of the behaviour of PAHs in air which is known as carcinogens and/or mutagens suspended Particulates in ambient air were collected by Anderson air sampler from 1992. 6 to 1993. 5 in Seoul. Ten species of PAHs( Phen, An, Fl, R, Py, BaAn, BaP, Chry, BeP, DiB(a, h)An, I123p) were analyzed to understand monthly variations of PAHs distribution of PAHs concentration according to particle size, and correlation between PAHs and independent charactierstics of PAHs The highest concentration of TSP was 155.58$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ in May and the lowest was 60$\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥ in August. Concentration of TSP was more affected by coarse particles in spring, otherwise which was more affected by fine particles in winter. According to results of anaylsis of samples that were collected by Anderson air sampler, concentration of PAHs was more high in winter than that in summer. In almost samples collected by Anderson air sampler, concentration of PAHs was more high in coarse particles than in fine particles, but BaP well known as carcinogenic matter had more high concentration in fine particles(56-97.5%) than that in coarse particles(2.5-46%). Correlation between concentrations of TSP and PAHs was more high in fine Particles than in coarse Particles. Both fine particles and coarse particles have negative correaltion with radiation.
Polystyrene, PS, particles of 450 nm diameter and poly(styrene-co-styrene sulfonate), PSS, particles of 140-160 nm diameter were prepared by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization. The surfaces of the PS and PSS particles were coated with Ag nanoparticles for the application of antimicrobial agents by reduction of Ag ions using ${\gamma}$-irradiation. The Ag-PS and Ag-PSS were characterized by High-Resolution Transmittance Electron Microscopy (HR-TEM), Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDXS). The HR-TEM and EDXS data showed that the Ag nanoparticles were loaded on the surface of the PS and PSS particles, respectively. The antimicrobial efficiency of the Ag-PS and Ag-PSS particles (0.4 g) with ca. 100 ppm Ag, which was coated onto yam (KS K 0905-1996 rule), was tested against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352 after 100 washing cycles (KS K 0432-1999 rule). The antimicrobial efficiency of the Ag-PS particles against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Klebsiella pneumoniae ATCC 4352 was 99.9% after 100 cycles washing., confirming that the Ag-PS particles can be used as antimicrobial agents.
An experimental study of the constitutive response of precipitation-strengthened Al-0.55wt% Zr alloy, which consists of an Al matrix precipitation-strengthened by coherent particles, ${\beta}^{\prime}(Al_3Zr)$ with $L1_2$ structure has been performed. The deformation response of the materials has been examined by stress relaxation test at 573K, 623K and 673K. It was found that there exist the threshold stress during stress relaxation and threshold stress results from the presense of ${\beta}^{\prime}(Al_3Zr)$ particles. The ratio of threshold stress and Orowan stress decreased gradually with increasing temperature. The resistance to climb-pass of particles was independent of particles size for a fixed volume fraction although the threshold for bowing and particles cutting are sensitive to the particles dimensions. The smaller particles cutted by dislocations. This behavior of dislocations in this alloy was explained in terms of the small value antiphase boundary energy. The dislocation networks wrere more extensive in spesimens subjected to stress relaxation and there were numerous areas that have a high denstiy of jogged dislocation. This experiment results indicate that the rate controlling stress relaxation process is the climb of edge dislocation over particles.
