This study aims to investigate the effects of partially distributed loads on the dynamic behaviour of steel parabolic arches by using the elasto-plastic finite element model based on the Von Mises yield criteria and the Prandtl-Reuss How rule. For this purpose, the vertical and the radial load conditions were considered as a distributed loading and the loading range is varied from 40% to 100% of arch span. Normal arch and arch with initial deflection were studied. The initial deflection of arch was assumed by the sinusoidal motile of ${\omega}_i\;=\;{\\omega}_O$ sin ($n{\pi}x/L$). Several numerical examples were tested considering symmetric initial deflection when the maximum initial deflection at the apex is fixed as L/1000. The analysis resluts showed that the maximum deflection at the apex of arch was occurred when 70% of arch span was loaded. The maximum deflection at the quarter point of arch span was occurred when 50% of arch span was loaded. It is known that the optimal rise to span ratio between 0.2 and 0.3 when the vertical or radial distributed load is applied. It is verified that the influence of initial deflection of radial load case is more serious than that of vertical load case.

This study aims to investigate the effect of partially distributed loads on the static behavior of parabolic arches by using the elastic-plastic finite element model. For this purpose, the vertical, the radial, and the anti-symmetric load cases are considered, and the ratio of loading range and arch span is increased from 20% to 100%. Also, the elastic-visco-plastic analysis has been carried out to estimate the elapse time to reach the stable state of arches when the ultimate load obtained by the finite element analysis is applied. It is noted that the ultimate load carrying capacities of parabolic arches are 6.929 tf/$m^2$ for the radial load case, and 8.057 tf/$m^2$ for the vertical load case. On the other hand, the ultimate load is drastically reduced as 2.659 tf/$m^2$ for the anti-symmetric load case. It is also shown that the maximum ultimate load occurs at the full ranging distributed load, however, the minimum ultimate loads of the radial and vortical load cases are obtained by 2.336 tf/$m^2$, 2.256 tf/$m^2$, respectively, when the partially distributed load is applied at the 40% range of full arch span.

In this study non-linear finite element analysis of dynamic response of steel arch under partially distributed dynamic load was discussed. Material and geometric non-linearities were included in finite element formulation and steel behavior was modeled with Von Mises yield criteria. Either radial or vertical dynamic load was dealt in numerical examples. Normal arch and arch with maximum shape imperfection of L/11,000 were studied. The analysis results showed that maximum displacement at the center of arch was occurred when 70% of arch span was loaded. The maximum displacement at a quarter of arch span was occurred when 50% of arch span was loaded and the displacement was larger than that of center of arch. Ratio of arch rise to arch span within 0.2∼-.3 seems to be appropriate for arch under radial or vertical load.
The expertise required in the judicious use of nonlinear finite element (FE) packages for design-assistance purposes is not widely available to the average engineer, whose sole aim may be to obtain an estimate for a single design parameter, such as the limit load capacity of a structure. Such a parameter may be required for the design of a proposed reinforced concrete (RC) floor slab or bridge deck with a given set of geometrical and material details. This paper outlines a procedure for developing design-assistance equations for carrying out such predictions for partially restrained RC slabs under uniformly distributed loading condition, based on a database of FE results previously generated from a large number of 'numerical model' slabs. The developed equations have been used for predicting the peak loads of a number of experimental RC slabs having varying degrees of edge restraints; with results showing a reasonable degree of accuracy and low level of scatter. The simplicity of the equations makes them attractive and their successful use in the field of application reported in this paper suggest that the outlined procedure may also be extended to other classes of concrete structures.

The demand for the structural system of reduction of story height increases because buildings are getting higher. The existing structural systems are not efficiency. Thus, it is hard to reduce the story height and existing methods cannot secure economics as expected. This study aims at developing the partially concrete-filled new type composite beam, which can efficiently resist against the end negative moment and central positive moment, also reduce deflection of beams. Through case studies on loading of concentrated load and uniformly distributed load to fixed beam, we could find the most efficient ratio of moment of inertia and the ratio ${\alpha}$(end beam length to span). The gap space between middle and end beam can be used as facilities installation, consequently the suggested Omega beam system is expected to get the effect of reduction in story height as well as reduction of quantity.

Explosive growth of smartphone-based mobile nodes has increased exponentially the mobile data traffic on the Internet. To reduce the traffic load on the network and to support the seamless mobility of the mobile nodes, the IETF and 3GPP have standardized a number of mobility management mechanisms. More recently, they are making an effort to find some schemes to distribute the networking systems that involve in the mobility management in order to assure the scalability and the reliability of the network. In IETF, DMM concept for the distributed mobility management on the Internet is being discussed. Specifically, the DMM can be classified into the partially distributed management and fully distributed management. In this paper, we propose a fully distributed mobility management scheme (FuDMM) on PMIPv6-based network by applying the extended NDP. We also present the performance of FuDMM using the comparative analysis with the existing ones.
This paper presents a displacement-based finite element procedure for second-order distributed plasticity analysis of planar steel frames with semi-rigid beam-to-column connections under static loadings. A partially strain-hardening elastic-plastic beam-column element, which directly takes into account geometric nonlinearity, gradual yielding of material, and flexibility of semi-rigid connections, is proposed. The second-order effects and distributed plasticity are considered by dividing the member into several sub-elements and meshing the cross-section into several fibers. A new nonlinear solution procedure based on the combination of the Newton-Raphson equilibrium iterative algorithm and the constant work method for adjusting the incremental load factor is proposed for solving nonlinear equilibrium equations. The nonlinear inelastic behavior predicted by the proposed program compares well with previous studies. Coupling effects of three primary sources of nonlinearity, geometric imperfections, and residual stress are investigated and discussed in this paper.
The transient analysis of partially supported laminated plates with rectangular holes under uniformly distributed transverse load is studied using finite element method. The first-order shear deformation theory and the variational energy method are employed in mathematical formulation. The effects on central deflection by plate thickness ratio, material modulus ratio, ply lamination geometry and boundary conditions are investigated Numerical results are presented and comparisons of the results by the present method with those given in the literature are made.
This paper presents a partially decentralized passive replication algorithm for deterministic servers in message-passing distributed systems. The algorithm allows any backup server, not necessarily the primary server, to take responsibility for processing its received client request and coordinating with the other replica servers after obtaining the delivery sequence number of the request from the primary. Thanks to thus desirable feature, the algorithm with conventional load balancing techniques can efficiently avoid extreme load conditions on the primary. Therefore, it can provide better scalability of deterministic and replicated sewer systems than traditional passive replication algorithms. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm can reduce $16.5\%{\~}52.3\%$ of the average response time of a client request compared with the traditional ones.

In order to solve the problems such as overload, single point of failure, non-optimized data path, and network scalability in conventional central mobility management protocols, distributed mobility management schemes have been continually studied in and around the IETF. In this paper, a network-based partially-distributed mobility management mechanism, pDMMv6, is suggested and the performance comparison with traditional protocols such as PMIPv6 and MIPv6 is made through simulation under the various user traffic environment. The simulation results include UDP packet delivery ratio, end-to-end packet delay, binding delay for registration signaling, CPU utilization in each node, and response delays in several server-client TCP applications such as web browsing, e-mail, telnet remote login, FTP file up/down-load, and database access.
