The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of achievement parenting behavior on the relationship between parents' and adolescents' optimism. The subjects of the study were 514 adolescents who were selected from the first and second grades of middle schools in Busan as well as their parents. The results indicated that parents' achievement parenting behavior had mediating effects on the relationship between parents' and adolescents' optimism. In boy adolescents, parents' achievement parenting behavior had partially mediating effects on the relationship between parents' and boy adolescents' optimism. In girl adolescents, fathers' achievement behavior had complete mediating effects on the relationship between fathers' and girl adolescents' optimism. Moreover, it was observed that mothers' achievement parenting behavior had partially mediating effects on the relationship between mothers' and girl adolescents' optimism.
Purpose: This study was to investigate the stress of parents while they were rearing their children. Method: This study reviewed the preceding research related to parents' stress and breeding stress with consideration of modem society, family system and parents' role. Results: In the parent-child relationship, parents feel stressed when they found it difficult to come up with an expectation to the parents' role of rearing child. Therefore, considering the health of parents and children, it is important to mediate parents who are under stress. Moreover, since parents cannot handle this problem all alone, it should be discussed and solved not only by individual but also by family, and further by social context. The parent-child relationship in early infancy is a core element to the development of an individual. Parents have influence on a child's development the most and play a big role. In particular, many parents these days believe that parent-child relationship is changing in a democratic way and a couple breeds their child together. However, in reality, the relationship has not been changed and is even regarded as more difficult situation than it was in the traditional society. Parents are oppressed with not being adapted to social changes and advance, and child also feels the same. Conclusion: Parents need education and support for child rearing without having any stresses. This study aimed to identify the relationship between MBTI personality types and parent-child relationships among the juvenile delinquents non-delinquent adolescents. From the analyses of empirical data, the following tendencies were found. First, delinquent juveniles are more likely to be classified to be such MBTI types as "Extroverted," "Sensing," "Thinking," and "Judging" than non-delinquent juveniles. Second, contrary to popular belief, the juvenile delinquent group was fecund to have more positive attitudes toward their relationship with their parents than the non-delinquent juvenile group. Third, for both the non-delinquent juveniles and the delinquent juveniles, "I" and "P" preferences were related with a positive perception of the relationship with their parents. Fourth, "EJ," as a psychological temperament type, was related with a Positive relationship with parents for both groups. Fifth, the psychological function types were not significantly related with the relationship with parents. Sixth, "EP" and "IP," as psychological attitudes types, were related significantly with a positive relationship with parents. Seventh, the juveniles classified as "ESTJ" had good relationships with parents, whereas "ISTP" types, on the other hand, tended to show the most negative attitudes toward their relationship with parents. The most interesting result of this study was the finding that the "P (perceiving)" types in the non-delinquent juveniles group as well as in the juvenile delinquents group tend to have negative attitudes toward their parents.
The purpose of this study was to observe the difference and patterns of relationship between parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law based on the perceived agreement of quality of relationship and communication. A total of 138 dyad relationships between parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law from Seoul, Kyunggi-Do, and Cholla-Do were analyzed. The study results showed that parents-in-law and foreign daughters-in-law perceived their relationship as an average and above and parents-in-law perceived their relationship more positively than daughters-in-law. A total of 4 clusters were categorized by cluster analysis based on the agreement of perceived relationship and communication: parents-in-law perceived their relationship positively but daughters-in-law were not(cluster 1), daughters-in-law perceived their relationship positively but parents-in-law were not(cluster 2), both parents-in-law and daughters-in-law perceived their relationship positively(cluster 3), both parents-in-law and daughters-in-law perceived their relationship negatively(cluster 4). In order to observe the characteristics of relationship patterns, ANOVA were performed. Cultural competency of parents-in-law appeared to relate to their relationship with daughters-in-law. Acculturative stress of daughters-in-law who have good relationship with their parents-in-law was low and marital satisfaction of them was high. In addition, life satisfaction of parents-in-law who have good relationship with their daughters-in-law was high. Implication of this study was discussed.
Purpose: This study was conducted to describe the relationship of parents' stress, coping, and partnership between nurse and parents whose children were hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Methods: A descriptive correlation study design was used. The participants were 81 parents whose children were hospitalized at S-hospital located in Seoul from October 18 to November 27, 2012. This study used the 'Parental Stress Scale: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit,' the coping scale, and 'Pediatric Nurse Parents Partnership Scale, PNPPS'. The data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and pearson correlation. Results: The parents of children hospitalized in pediatric intensive care unit were experiencing high level of stress ($3.22{\pm}0.82$). There was a significant positive correlation between parents' coping and nurse parents partnership (p<.001), however there was no relationship between parents' stress and coping, and parents' stress and nurse parents partnership. Conclusion: Nurse-parents partnership had significant relationship with parents' coping In the care of children hospitalized in pediatric intensive care unit. The results of this study provided a foundation to recognize importance of nurse parents partnership and to develop intervention program for nurses and parents to improve their partnership.
Understanding the experience of parents without custody after divorce is important in terms of facilitating their adjustment and positive relationships with their children. Ninety-two noncustodial parents divorced within the previous 5 years completed a structured questionnaire. We examined differences between noncustodial fathers and mothers in terms of the frequency of the contact and the relationship satisfaction with children. In addition, using the regression model, we analyzed the effects of several characteristics of noncustodial parents, including gender, on the frequency of contact as well as the relationship satisfaction with children. The main results of the study are as follows. First, noncustodial fathers and mothers exhibited similar low levels of contact by phone and in-person visits. Second, noncustodial parents with a child older than 8 years old visited the child more frequently, and were more satisfied than noncustodial parents with younger children. Third, the level of desire to gain the child custody had a significant effect on the frequency of contact and the satisfaction of the relationship between the noncustodial parents and their children. Fourth, noncustodial parents with more positive feeling about their former spouse contacted more frequently with the children. Fifth, compared with noncustodial fathers, noncustodial mothers demonstrated a higher relationship satisfaction with their children.
This thesis is to analyze and investigate the influence of behaviors towards an organization of public officials due to the way their parents raised them. I tried to find out how their parents' raising way influences the individual characteristics, the human relationship, the job satisfaction, and the organizational commitment. It is proved that the personal characteristics of the organization members affect the human relationship in organization strongly. It is also proved that the way their parents raised them affects the personal characteristics. Therefore I can suggest that the way parents raised children affects the organizational behavior strongly. In addition to that, the personal characteristics of each public official highly affect the human relationship such as the relationship with seniors, colleagues, and subordinates in organization. I know that the way their parents raised them strongly affects the human relationships in organization. In order to find out the influence of organizational behavior of public officials due to the way their parents raised them, I used the Pearson's correlation analysis. I find that the public officials who lived with positive parents have high job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and have high self-esteem, self-control, responsibility, and have good relationship with their senior and colleagues administrative public official. Also, from this study we can find out the influence which parents' attitude has on children's satisfaction and devotion as adults. Therefore this study can suggest a new direction of public administration.
The Korean version of the therapeutic relationship scaled for parents was administered to 156 Korean parents and 51 therapists. Statistical analysis of the data showed that highly educated parents who graduated from university had the most negative emotional perceptions against therapists. Working class parents made more positive therapeutic helping relationships as assistants though they also had negative emotional relationships. Differences in perception of emotional relationships between parents and therapists were found even when there were no differences in the therapeutic helpfulness of the relationship. That is, when effectiveness of the therapeutic relationship was held constant, perceptual disagreement about the emotional relationship between parents and therapists was more prevalent than agreement about the emotional relationship.
The major purpose of the present research was to examine the effect of adolescents's perception of parents' marital relationship and attachment with their parents on school adjustment. This study also tried to investigate the inter-relationship among related variables, and the differences in the level of school adjustment according to adolescents' general characteristics. The participants were 355 middle and high school students who lived in Chollabuk-Do province. The major results of this research were as follows. First, there were significant differences in the level of school adjustment according to sex, age, and grade point. average That is, the level of school adjustment was higher for males, for older adolescents, and for those recording higher grade point, than for females, for younger, and for those recording relatively lower grade point. Second, parents' marital relationship was positively correlated with positive aspects of attachment with their parents(i.e., communication and trust), and with school adjustment. but negatively correlated with negative aspect of attachment(i.e., alienation from their parents). Finally, multiple regression analyses were performed to analyze the relative significance of the related variables influencing on school adjustment after controlling the effect of sex, age, and grade point. It was found that communication with fathers was the most powerful predictor of school adjustment, while attachment with mothers was not found to be a significant predictor of school adjustment.
Based on the theory of adolescent development, the study analyzed how the relationship among elementary school students and their parents and intimacy between the parents affects elementary school children's gaming disorders. The current study focused on the different gender effects and the relationship between parents. The results indicated that the closer the relationship with the mother of elementary school girls and the better the relationship between the parents of boys were associated with the lower the gaming disorder. The significance of study is to analyze the importance of the relationship between parents in preventing gaming disorder.
